      But it’s a fact!! If Rodgers hadn’t of agreed to take the Leicester job at that precise time (3/4 through a season) then the Leicester hierarchy would have gone elsewhere. Rodgers had a clear decision to make, either accept the job or remain at Celtic. Now ask yourselves what you would have done in that situation 🤔

      You caught dead in a narrative that Simon is trying to unclog from your brain. The managers are responsible for what they do, and not matter how much money you spend on players what happen on the field tactical and otherwise lies with the manager. 4 clubs have won 28 PL. You might miss the point that only Leicester and Liverpool drop in for one. So once the reality sets in, oh what about the FA and League cut. Show me the teams that have come forward in the last 25 years to mount a challenge to the clubs at the top. What Simon said, there are factors, that stretched beyond Levy, and as might as you all will say Poch was never backed. The teams were good enough to win something. I know if we had better players!!!

      @@iMikes please read a little more. I said the argument is that Spurs has not won the league and no other club outside 4 has done so. No need repeating myself. We have been to 3 finals and chase the league twice. Once the fact of domination is represented then the narrative is what about the FA and League cup. Conte football was awful, and while I did not agree with Jose firing at the time. His football was as dreadful as Conte.
      What both had in common, they took no responsibilities for their part, and proceeded to call out the chairman publicly. They were too coward to say, this is not for me, good bye. They wanted to be fired to get every penny of their contract.
      The facts of Levy not being a football man is not going to chance, but you don't want to hear any other side. . Within all the bad deals he made, we have about 5 to 6 teams that should have won. Not counting the Jose saga. Don't interpret what an saying as defending Levy, I am defending a balance that by extension the managers played their role. They are not innocent. You reading something totally different when Simon said I am not defending and proceed lay out why Levy is not the only one that has not done the job. The managers get all the credit and walk away from their failures.

    Spurs have plenty of money to compete at the very top. The problem is that their ownership is unreasonably tight! The biggest examples in the past 6 months are the 50M joint bid for Maddison and Barnes in addition to only offering 12M for Trossard when Brighton wanted a package that could see them with 27M. This is not like when Arsenal moved into the Emarites and was completely broke, Spurs are in the era of mega money and had spent far more in 4 years than Wenger did in 10 at the Emarites even taking into consideration inflation.

    • @edmanning274
      @edmanning274 Před 11 měsíci

      The Maddison and Barnes offer never happened, it was just a rumour. Trossard, yes - no one else was in for him at the time and they made a mistake. How do you know how much the stadium is costing? We have around £150m per season to spend while the stadium is being paid off, and will be much more after.
      Your point about spending less than Wenger sort of makes sense... but we've spent a lot less than United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal in the past 3 windows. It's all relative.
      Simon is right though, most of the time the league table ends up being a list of clubs who spend the most on wages, top to bottom. Read soccernomics - great book.

    No one is talking about the elephant in the room. For years Spurs have had high coveted players that they refused to sell as Levy want to show he was such a top stubborn negotiator. Guess what? Many players would of seen this. Spurs are not a dream club in any players career, most want to play for Barca or Real or even Bayern, maybe even United. They would see Spurs as a stepping stone, if they succeed they would want that big move, if not they are still at a good club in a great City. Modric, Eriksen and Bale had to force their way out the club. Kane downed tools and Levy still wouldnt sell even for 120m to City. They managed to keep Son and he lost form. They only need to look to Chelsea (forget the Boehly-Clearlake Mess). They sold Courtois and Hazard to Madrid after trying their best to keep them. A 2 years after Hazard left, Chelsea won the UCL. Hazard's career crumbled. This just shows, rather sell when theres no change to keep the player since anything can happen. They reinvested and signed the UCL winner 21yo Havertz for 62m. 3 Years later, he's about to go to Arsenal for the same amount.

The Djed Spence signing is a highlight of how the board and the manager are not on the same page. It's decisions like this which make Spurs fans scratch their heads and go wtf. However / I think the situation would be different if they won the league instead of Leicester (which they should have done) , won the CL final which they could’ve done. Won against bloody Sheffield. Won the final of the cup as well. If spurs won those games, instead of bottling it, I wonder how much of a negative would be around Levy’s name. I do think levy needs to go - but it’s good to be mindful that it’s not all levy’s fault and that people would be changing their tunes if they won those 3/4/5 major trophies in the last 5/6/7 years. That would’ve been 1 trophy per season in the last 5 years - are spurs REALLY more than a 1 trophy a year side? Not sure

But without the right attitude permeating from everyone in the first place they are going to be up against it no matter who they hire as Manager or what players they buy. Postecoglou is a brilliant Manager who will do his utmost to get the players playing for the shirt and themselves.. give everything for themselves, the club, and the fans. Will the players buy in, though? Will the rest of the club buy in... Levy... the ground staff.. the nutritionists... everyone. Postecoglou is THE right person for this job

They got close to the UCL Final, more so in terms of luck, and Pochettino, because they almost were out of the group stage that season. And of course miracles vs City, and Ajax. The summer before, when Spurs needed to strengthen, they were the FIRST team to not spend a SINGLE pound on a player. They didn't buy anyone to reinforce their squad. Levy's running the football side of things not as great to win things...(You need a winning mentality from the TOP owner/ceo) , while he was busy with the stadium.
