You people. Let me explain. Some scene in movies/TV series are symbolic, like when you put some similitudes or deep meaning hidden behind some "natural" things. Here she is seeing the banqueting in Valhalla and the banqueting in real kattegart. As a meaning of the end of the past greatness of that town, and also the end of her time too. The past glory belongs to Ragnar, lagertha and Bijorn, the future to that other people. If you pay attention they choose a footage where Ragnar is banqueting indeed. Also the fact that she kill herself with water: she is the last great shieldmaiden and lady not "corrupted" (in old values meaning) person of ragnar's family. She has to go to make space to a new era, where the old values will not endure. The old is washed away and a new era is reborn. Do I have to explain the end scene with ubbe (son of ragnar, representing future) and floki (representing past) watching toghether the sun, rise again on new land (take a look at their clothes and the position of the sun). Do I have to explain you why the series not end with a clearly satisfying Valhalla scene? Cause kattegart and the history the Ragnar saga is ending, but the mith is still very alive in this earth in two of his sons, lives goes on but in a change of times, change of traditions, change of ways.
