  • CB750K (CB750) Project Pt. 1 - center stand removal & exhaust mods !! GUYS! In this episode we start getting our hands dirty on the 1974 Honda CB750 build.
    First up is tackling all of what is involved to install a MAC 4 into 1 exhaust system. Especially challenging when one of the previous owners cut it all to pieces and abused it severely! I have to break out the MIG welder to customize the pipe to work on my bike.

    Yeah... so it's the first actual episode in the series of how to's for customizing your CB750K. What would you change (or have already changed) on your ride?

    So happy I found this. I was trying so hard to remove the spring to get the center stand off and then saw this video and bingo . Thanks a bunch mike !

      Hey I'm glad it helped! What year of cb750 do you have?

      @@Mike_Barker thank you, mike ! I have a 1980 cb750f. The center stand is similar tho so your video was very helpful to take it off and send to the powdercoaters. Now to figure out how to put it back on!

      That green is my favorite color! Cause I got one!!! My project, is to put a center stand on a stock bike that didn't have one.

    My cb550s center stand was resting on the chain due to the lack of a second muffler. Thanks for the video i can ride with no worries

    Yeah, Ichiban is a cool dude the great part is he lives about an hour drive from here. Can't wait for the next installment! Sure seemed cold in that garage!

      Thanks Midwest! The garage is COOOOOLD. It's plumed for in-floor hydronic heat, but I didn't install a boiler yet... and to be honest... a mini-split might be all I need. A/C in the summer would be nice too!

    Oh No Im 4 years too late - from the passenger foot peg, the original pipes should have had a clamp that kept the foot stand from hitting the chain - When having to replace the OEM on my CB750 DOHC 1979, I saw the exact same problem. It was mitigated by using the metal plate that the mufflers used to attached to the Foot PEG -
    Im not about to give up my center stand - its the only means I have for working on my bike - imagine trying to adjust valves, tune carbs, etc while on a side stand ?

    I have a Kerker muffler on my 400F's stock header. When it was put together, my welder tacked on a flat tab to catch the center stand just like the stock muffler.

      Nice! My pipe wouldn't clear the center stand. If it had cleared I would have retained it for sure!!

    Im sure you already got this hack after this vid, but the simple way to keep those springs locked open and much easier to take off the center stand- or any part on these old bikes-- is to fully extend the stand- therefore extending the spring fully as well, and then shim as many pennies as possible in the open coils of the springs, then close. The spring will remain expanded and you can simple take it off which ever part its on. Ive been doing it that way and it saves me tons of time. BTW- wheres the CB550 w the CB750f tank details video. Were all waiting man!!!!

    • @Mike_Barker
      @Mike_Barker  Před 5 lety

      That's a sweet sweet hack! As for the cb550... I've got something in the works but need some scheduling to line up
