  • Learn tips on how to price a lawn for lawn care services. Proper pricing is a huge factor in the success of your business. I prefer to price it right on the front end, as opposed to coming in with a low price and then looking to raise the rate the following year.

    I live 1hr south of Seattle and no service I have found charges less then $50 a 1/2 hr visit for a 2 man crew to mow edge and blow walkways. On a lawn under 10,000 sq ft.. And I went through 3 co before I found a semi- reliable one.I finally just got my neighbor to do the job while I was out of town for 1/2 the cost.

      This video is a little outdated. For mowing, I try to charge $50 per person per hour. Lawn care companies like smaller lawns so they can get in and get out quick.

    (Dr. Evil Pose) Won Milliyon Dollors!!! (Dr. Evil type laugh)
    But seriously in the Cincinnati Ohio area, I can charge $35 for mow/blow only if the lot is under a quarter acre. trimming is 10 dollars more. Corner lots that are not tiny get a fee tacked on too. If the lawn is overgrown then I charge extra. Not too many people that have called me refused my bids. Some even pay me up-front. :D

      John Cinty That is great. I think almost everything is more expensive up north. Pricing is somewhat regional.

    hey, im having a hard time coming up with a lawn service name
    What is your opinion with Ed's Green Extreme Lawn Service

    • @lawncarelife
      @lawncarelife  Před 10 lety

      Personally, I would leave your name off of the business name. To me, it just makes your business sound small like it is just you.

      Lawn Care Business
      i have to disagree, having your name i think is good, personable, they call and want to ask for someone! just sayin, thanks for vids! Im not going with the green extreme name now anyway, i made it shorter with my name, thanks!

    • @lawncarelife
      @lawncarelife  Před 10 lety

      No problem. I think it is important to have a name that you like. Not everyone liked my first lawn business name, but I did. That being said, I wouldn't pick a name that most people don't like. I do agree that a shorter name is better.

    Hey Jason, I love the videos, but I'm not sure where you are living but here in Denver there is no way i could charge $40 per lawn. Unless they had a HUGE yard. But for your average suburb the pros mow trim and edge for $20-25. Think you could get by on those numbers?

    • @EdStaniszewski
      @EdStaniszewski Před 10 lety

      wow! competition must be really stiff in your neck of the woods! where are you located?

    • @lawncarelife
      @lawncarelife  Před 10 lety

      Sorry for the slow response. $20-$25 per yard would be tough to make a living. I know pricing is regional. You would have to have a lot of customers to make that work at that price

    • @Mabrito88
      @Mabrito88 Před 10 lety

      I live in Colorado. Highly populated city near Denver. I agree, I would need 40 accounts minimum. But I have called around and most companies charge $25/wk including whacking and edging. One place was $30. I would love to start my business but it seems highly competitive. Thanks for the response.

      didnt they just pass legalization of marijuana out there? maybe you could open a dispensary, LMAO!! dont laugh too hard, lots of $$ to make with that stuff!

    • @Mabrito88
      @Mabrito88 Před 10 lety

      No, you are absolutely right BUT the state only gives out a certain number of licenses per year, and it is highly regulated. More than any other business. Not just anyone can grow and sell. Plus the start up costs on such a business would be a lot. Way more than a lawn care business. ha ha

    Around here in Florida lawn services charge between $40-85 dollars a month. That is just mowing, edging, trimming and blowing.

      wow!! a month? that is crazy low!! When i cut im making on avg. $40-$80 an hr., sometimes more. I work by myself and do very nice work. I have alot of 2 weekers, alot of co.'s dont want to cut every 2 weeks, but i do, they add up! i save my Fridays for landscape jobs, etc. works out well, my next 6 Fridays are booked up, make very good $$ on that day!

    fact is, if you want alot of lawns to cut your going to have to be the lowest bidder. This will be my new tactic, especially with the lawns in my township, close to my house. My stepdad does this , he has about 50 lawns, and does not weed whack, can you believe that? He gives them a very low bid and tells them that is for no weedwhacking, customer takes care of it, and it works for him! And all his lawns are in his township which is nice, he can knock them out quick being not much travel time.
