I'm in the path west of houston. They were telling us possibly 70 to 85 mph gusts where I live.

If you're not quite sure WHERE our Houston / Galveston coast is on the Texas map, just look for the "Smiling Snoopy" shape... that's us. (We here in Houston are quite used to these things. My first one to ride out was Alicia) HOWEVER! If we lose power for very long, it IS a danger for the elderly. They need their A/C's and refrigerators. What is your rain projections for north east Houston from Beryl? Around the Cleveland, Livingston, and Shepherd area?
Protect your animals. Do not drive into flooded areas even if you think it's safe. You can become a victim and just part of a bigger problem. This is whether you have a car, SUV or truck. You would be surprised how easy it is for a flooded area to move your vehicle. If you have anything outside that might become flying debris, bring it inside or lock it up. You can save a life this way. Make sure you have plenty of can food, water, batteries in case you are stranded. Make sure you have a backpack of medication and first aid.
