Prologue, similar the fellowship. Will show some backstory on it
I think it could be the first plot line for season one
I would love it if we could get one of the main characters say the famous poem .

DEF a prologue for sure!!! We could end up seeing glimpses of some first age events occasionally scattered throughout the series. It could aid in further explaining the story line whenever the need arises.
I'd guess that it's a prologue, giving a little background to the story that follows.
Even the trees have confusing names and lineage, Tolkien’s details are unparalleled
If you’ll forgive the pun, the Professor loved to sow the seeds of confusion.
I quite convinced that if some future civilization finds this books long after we are gone, they possibly can believe it was truly a real world
@@anothermouth7077 Well for some of the readers Tolkien's books already are as holy than the Bible. In next 2000 years when we live in post-apocalyptic world, maybe some group of future geeks will create religion out of it.
Yeah there's one of the kids that does a channel on a lot of it I want to say men of the West that guy is unbelievable on his detail I've never even heard him stutter on name and all the stuff! I stutter on my own name sometimes in the morning. The kids unbelievable and very good at this stuff He missed his calling but I hope he's making good money

Talk about Isildur's dedication and perseverance saving the tree.
I like how this shines a different light to his character, from just LOTR Isildur (under the influence of the ring) comes off rather dislikeable, but hearing how much he risked for the tree gives him much more depth than I originally thought.

And not once but twice, carrying a sapling from doomed Numenor and another from fallen Minas Ithil. He obviously conidered the tree an important heirloom or symbol for his people.
"Why bother with winning a war when I have all I need right here. Now leave me while I stare at this sapling until dusk!"

Judging from this video, it's REALLY hard to have a nice tree in Middle Earth without some random Dark Lord wanting to cut it down.

So sad that Isildur valiantly rebelled against evil & the cult of Melkor... only to succumb to the darkness of the one ring
no one could have have thrown the ring into the fire not aragorn not sam or elrond thats the entire point of lord of the rings it had to be accidental
He never succumbed to the darkness of the one ring. That is something Peter Jackson popularized. Isildur was on his way to give the ring away to Arnor when he died.

I just hope this Amazon series does justice to the Tolkien legacy.

@@tw0crows74 I mean I don't have hope they randomly made dark elves in the series made galadriel into a warrior and she falls for a man instead of celeborn who just got deleted from existence 🤦 and already a bunch of timelines were changed some characters aged up some events happening yrs later or before 🤦🤦

This is what I love about Tolkien. I truly feel immersed in a world that somewhere in this universe exists but is yet to be discovered. The level of detail and involvement in this world is unparalleled. I'm currently reading the Silmarillion and just read the chapter about the white tree. I just can't get enough of all of this lore.

@@hazbojangles2681 what I meant with my previous comment is that the Party Tree had no importance in the lore. It was not descandant of a great tree like the ones on the video, and no great moment of Middle-earth' history took place there. It was just a tree that was cut down by Saruman and then replaced by the mallorn.
To the hobbits it was big deal for they valued it like they valued everything natural that came from the earth. But to the myths? As I said, just a tree
I love how Ungoliant the Spider, also called the Devourer, was capable of consuming both darkness and light itself. She is, to this day, one of my favorite beings of Tolkien's inventions.
They're both light one is just silver and one is gold.
@@ForbiddenFollyFollower I think there was a slight misunderstanding here, let me correct it right quick. The part of my comment about light and dark was reference to the part of the Silmarillion where Ungoliant is introduced. It said that she grew to be so ravenous that she could consume both light and darkness itself. I wasn't referencing the two trees when I said that.

I know it’s a lot to ask but it would be astronomically rad if you could do a full Silmarillion timeline, even if you used old footage and cut it together in sequential order. Your channel rules them all btw, huge fan 🖤
Thank you for this video and for focusing on the tress without digressions :) I never understood nor appreciated enough the scen of Aragorn finding the sapling in the mountains. Now I see how important it was.

Great video to cap off a fun week. Your deep dives, not only into the trees of valinor but taking the important trees all the way through to the end, gives me inspiration over and over throughout the video.
Mr. Tolkien's mention of trees and gardening fostered a life-long appreciation of horticulture for me. I still love to go walking in the woods and investigating flowers and so forth.
Actually his love of and appreciation for trees was one thing that drew me to his writing, as I already felt the same way before reading Tolkien.
@@Enerdhil I started way back in the 60's and 70s. I'd loved a good garden before that, but I really began to appreciate it after reading Tolkien's books.

I learned gardening as a child in the sixties and learned to love trees in the early eighties working for a tree surgeon. There is a science to cutting off or trimming tree branches.
I cant remember the quote but someone said could not stand taking walks with Tolkien because he would stop every 100 feet to talk about the trees and plants.

Pretty cool video to watch since I just started reading the Silmarillion recently (after having read LOTR and TH/TABA many times over the past 20-30 years) and only just learned about these trees and so far some of the events in the first and second ages that you reference.
You do a great job bringing it all together into easily digestible videos while utilising amazing but also relevant artwork. Keep up the awesome work! 👍

As for the series from Amazon, it's not the look I'm worried about, I'm sure they have the best resources to ensure a spectacular look, but everything else, something tells me it's all going to be a horror show.
And It's not a matter of being pessimistic or hater, but when it comes to entertainment, I've watched a lot of good franchises die or be warped beyond comprehension, we live in dark times without a doubt.
I feel the same. I keep hoping that at some point sanity might prevail...but..we'll just have to see.
There is so much good in the world of Tolkien and hopefully they dive deep into it without the baggage of our current society, but it seems like most stories today can't just be good stories.
With The Hobbit being this bad, of course we can presume this show will be dreadful!
Yep I’ve already seen multiple signs that the series is going to hijack this amazing lore to push a modern day political agenda. Like you said, it will no doubt look amazing but I think the story and characters are going to suffer majorly at the hands of the current ideological culture war.

The tale of the Ents and Entwives was sad. It's disappointing Quickbeam isn't mentioned travelling to look for them and new trees as his groves were destroyed by Saruman's forces. They say he's young for an Ent, and there's many places the Fellowship went to that may be interesting to him. Not sure why none of the Ents from Fangorn want to visit Lorien and why the Elves of Lorien don't want to visit Fangorn Forest?

He kind of skipped that part in today's video. The High Elves are more knowledgeable and powerful because they lived in the light of the Two Trees and got taught directly be the Valar.

Great video, like they always are. One comment tho, pretty sure that the two trees on the entrance to Moria, Durin's Gate (aka The Hollin Gate) are two ancient holly trees which were the symbol of the Elven kingdom of Eregion also known as Hollin.
