My Quest 3 arrived last week and I've been having a complete ball with it. I was expecting good things upgrading from my HTC-Vive to it but my expectations were blown completely out of the water. It's an amazing headset and with the new v64 update, things are just better. Steamlink is amazing and I'm able to enjoy all my SteamVR games in excellent quality, I've also installed SideQuest on my pc and I've been playing around with some games with that(Doom 3 was awesome). All in all, I'm having the best time with this and finding it's a great way to enjoy my retirement.
Need GTA port, sell headsets , VR blows up, other game dev companies go into panic.
The Ultra resolution vids have the most dramatic impact in 360 movies such as the crazy new Ghost in the Shell movie on the Meta showcase. Seeing it in a higher resolution and smoothness was an eye-opener and really makes you engage the medium of film in a new meaningful way. You're surrounded by the movie and you're physically moving and turning during the film. It's wild and the MQ3 IS the "superior" headset.

I watched an 8K 180VR youTube video of Times Square at night. Pretty awesome. I'm enjoying being able to watch videos while laid back on a comfy pillow in bed. The improved passthrough in V64 is a nice improvement.
Yesterday I noticed a big improvement in pass through and when I checked I saw that I have v64 installed. But as far as room mapping there is not the improvement where it can scan furniture. So far I can only add windows and doors, but no table or chairs.
That Crystal Light is a tempting addition to my sim rig. Crystal Light for racing and other seated experiences teamed with a Quest 3 for wireless would be an awesome combo.

Dude I've had multiple headsets and the Quest 3 is a game changer for sure. Using it with 6E wifi and virtual desktop it's nuts to play any game you want!
i have tried setting up my room after the v64 update and it didn't do anything.
i had to add any furniture, door and window manually
My 2nd B100 battery just arrived today. So happy with BoboVR's products, the fan is just awesome!
I hope mapping will use edge detection and make fewwer points that table is 2 linesegments and 2 semicircles. Surfaces could be better mapped and simplified. I want the room view to be more like a clean cad software.
I wasnt on v63 long, thank the gods, it had the worst framerates issues I’ve experienced on quest so far.
From what I can tell v64 has solved these issues.
And yes the AR does look marginally clearer but it didn’t blow my socks off, the way people were going on about it I expected iPhone camera quality
I really don't get their updates. I still haven't noticed any change to it remembering my rooms at all even though they said that would be fixed in v62.
I have to try to rescan the room because for me never forgot the room setup :o
Lie down mode was cool for watching videos like you said, unfortunately it seems to affect normal use too. I found it tilted my view a few degrees when playing red matter or 7th guest making it a bit disorientating. Had to disable it, redraw and set floor level and reset the view to fix it. Just resetting the view didn't work.

Vr64 kept my room set up the CZcams did look pretty great that's for sure
I just got the v64 update today and don't have "Use apps while lying down" in my experimental section. However, at least I can check my phone much more easily now.
Having joined the PTC channel for Q3, I find getting the newest firmware faster, both beta as well as the actual final release
Try to get the Visor for a test, it is very interesting to know how suitable it really is for use, whether it is not much better than the third quest even for working with a PC..
I have the v64 but have not tryed remapping my room as of yet but will try it now...

My first VR headset was the Rift s and exposure to that software environment spoiled me for life. Oculus truly nailed the software consumer grade users wanted (multi-purpose, multi-functional) and it seems Meta are continuing on in this development frame. ***** to Meta. I also own a Varjo Aero and from a hardware perspective the Aero is about the best there is at the moment but (besides the company political issues) the software is far too limiting for the consumer environment a total rewrite of the software and the Aero could leap back to the top of the vr mountain. Thats my thoughts anyway. Great news and keep up the great work JB. Ps v64 downloaded for me last night a testing we will go lol

With 8K VR video on CZcams, the total image is 8K. But you're only seeing a part of that because of the projection of your FOV. So yes, there is more data and it does objectively lead to better image quality.
I have yet to try laying down with my Quest 3, nothing I have seems like I'd want to lay down. Though when working on my car, and I'm under it, changing the oil, when I start to look around giving a small visual inspection, I actually get queasy. I really don't know why, because if I lay down on the floor, or on my bed etc and look around nothing. Maybe its a slight claustrophobic thing? I can handle small room and areas no problem, so no real idea. I used to get VR sickness, nd probably will still get it here and there, but I have no idea if the two are even linked.
Competition is great but some companies who create only premium-priced devices do more to prevent access to VR. As long as we have forward-thinking and pricing companies in play, good.
Super happy with my Q3, especially with V64 and a sharper passthrough.
I'm glad that Apple came out with their VP but there is no way in hell I'm going to spend that kind of $$$ for one of their headsets (despite having 4 iPads, a MacBook and a Mac Mini).
The good news so far is that Meta doesn’t seem to be enforcing the age restriction at least according to my friends. But still it could be a possibility.

My Quest 2 works As in it turns on and I can use the web browser and CZcams but whenever I start VR chat or Rec room it can’t get past the login in

Personally I'd like to see a bigscreen beyond with a higher ppd then I'll upgrade my quest 3 to something like that.
Might just be me, but I feel like the light should have pancake lenses with slightly better specs to the he 2 but not 3, the lenses are the first thing you notice in general. Especially if the headset it supposed to be better but affordable. Idk maybe just me.
The cpu and processing should be attached to the back of the head, similarly as a battery in bobovr. The front of the set should be only visors and screen. This way, the producers of optics and producers of processing unit could cooperate, and you could just upgrade optics or just upgrade processing.
Third party manufacturers would not be pleased and the headset would become more expensive.

@@jan.kowalski I follow the news around headsets for many years and that's what I deducted from Meta. It's cheaper to sell a Quest with the usual headstrap. Look at the Quest Pro...not so different from the Quest3 but three times as expensive.

I would say this, coming from Vive, Quest 3 has absolutely amazing wireless, but it DOES require you to get yourself a hefty Wifi (go for a gaming router) of a higher class, preferably Wifi 6 or 6E, and you're good to go. No lag for you.

I think mainstream will come when there are known triple A titles with great graphics like Call of Duty, GTA, and many others. It has to be something that pulls people away from consoles. I think the quest 3 is on the right track. It'll probably happen around quest 4 and a cheaper apple vision pro.
Idk I half agree with ya. I mean GTA is a game people will play for hours on end. How many people gonna keep a headset on that long? Not to mention battery concerns. Vr expects alot more out of the user compared to traditional gaming. I don't think VR needs AAA ports of flat-screen games to be successful. It needs games that harness the medium correctly. Like HLA for example. Graphics are important sure. But I've played all the games from HLA to Lone Echo, stormlands etc. All the lookers. And I can still play a native quest game like medieval dynasty and the experience isn't any less fun because of it. Point being Graphics aren't the end game either. Its a matter of the developer knowing what makes vr fun, and leaning into that. Lastly I don't think Q4 will have the horsepower for that dramatic of a increase in Graphics. Sure they will get better, but devs will probably use that for things like better ai and bigger worlds. I feel like Q5 maybe 6 will be the defining period for standalone VR. Only time will tell.

100% 8k looks better. 4k looks terrible compared. Even though the quest can't do 8k technically, 8k absolutely bumps up clarity and lessens artifacts compared to 8k. I can't watch VR videos in 4k because they look so bad with compression and artifacts lol.

OMG people need to stop making their arguments public! This is what I hate about social media because people will say things they wouldn't say to someone in person.
VR headsets need to all have OLED displays! That's the only way to go for dark scenes in VR.

Blacks look fine for me on my Q2 and Q3.
And I've played on an OLED .. while it's nice and has deeper blacks it's almost too black sometimes. Like in the Darth Vader trilogy. There's a scene where you are in a dark space with Vader. On oled it was so dark Incouldnt even see the details on his suit. Just some silhouette and his shiny eyes.
On the quests I could actually see him. The details on his suit. His actual body, the details of his face.
Not to mention the price difference....

No you wouldn’t , this is their way getting into your home but sugar coating it with games
If they asked me to do that for a specific reason and I could accept that reason, I would let them, if it was beneficial to me.
