We love you, the energy, the presentation, the concept of a tall loud guy and a short quiet guy. Wonderful show really, we love all about you guys. But didn't fool us. ;)
See, real magicians, can make it entertaining for everyone, including those who know what to look for and often debunk tricks. Penn and Teller are ALWAYS entertaining whether I know how they did something or not
At 8:43 Penn stuck the card onto the side of the box. At 9:45 when everyone is distracted by Penn and Richard you can see Teller reach for the side of the box to get the card, then as soon as he does this you can see him turn around. As for the breathing part, he could've actually been holding his breath for that long, but most likely he could've been using a secret breathing mechanism. I don't think he was breathing purely in the tiny space in his goggles. The breath-holding illusion could've been done in many ways, in which one of them is that secret pipes are stuck inside Teller's nostrils which run through the goggle frames and through the sides of the goggles, into his shirt or something and a small air tank hides in his shirt. I noticed that Teller constantly keeps his head on his left arm, so if his breathing method was used, then I think the pipes run through his left sleeve, and he breathes in through his nose and breathes out through his mouth, which he does time to time.
Well done. I’m too lazy to look at the slight of hand, but it was obvious that the card was slipped in in one of the times he went to the box. Also there’s a video that showed how the breathing underwater for 20 minutes was possible. I assumed it was something similar to that
6:22 Immediately after shuffling the cards, Penn turns to his left and pockets the card in his left pocket while also misdirecting us by asking Judy for the time. 8:38 You can see Penn reach back into his left pocket for the card before the camera cuts to a shot of Teller. Right after, Penn goes up to the tank and places his left hand on top of the tank to set the card in place. 9:45 Teller turns to his right to grab the card before completely turning around to place the card inside of his goggles.
You can find an earlier version of this trick on CZcams where it did almost go wrong and Teller was in actual danger of drowning so they had stage hands rush to the set to pull him out the moment the card was revealed. Teller apparently got some water inside the mask as he was slipping the card in, so they subsequently revised the trick to make sure it would never happen again.
"This is the lockpicking lawyer, and as you can see at a little after 3 minutes in this video, the audience is blissfully unaware that the very masterlock closing that water torture chamber is incredibly easy to pick..."
I liked the Fool Us version better where they waited for someone from the audience to shout "let him out!", and then stopped the watch while criticising the audience. Of course, they can't wait like that on someone else's show.
I've seen this trick done a bunch of different times, and now ever since watching "Off the Deep End" as well, I'm just convinced Teller can breathe underwater.

This was so awesome! First time seeing it. I hope this is the trick that they spoke about in an interview. In which the end when they normally bow Penn didnt come out to bow. hahah
Option 1:The video was cut at 6:28 so you couldn't see Penn putting the card at the back of the tank. Some time later Teller managed to grab the card. Option 2: When teller reached up and tried to open the lock he put his face right up against the tank. Could he not have passed the card, mouth-to-mouth or hand to hand or mouth to hand, over to Teller? 10:26
that's not the trick though he gives teller the card when he is holding the key waiting for the guy to rip open the envelope and teller is breathing through his nose
6:25 as he turns around he places the card in his pocket. He either hands the card to Teller around 8:04 or at 8:45 when he tries to reach for the key. And I'm guessing Teller can breathe through his nose in the goggles.
Obviously there was a hidden breather inside the mask, that's why his nose was duct into it. you didn't see the bubbles, because air was extracted through the same place it came in, probably some flat shaped pipe in the headband thing.
