- We're back at the dragstrip with the AWD Acura RSX project! Things started off a bit rough but Rob Greengotuned made some tweaks, put the "send it" tune in and we were super impressed with the results! Even more so that the car is on an all season street tire! Last episode we installed a PPG Hypoid gear from Marc P at GP1 Racing and had it rebuilt by Aaron Lopez from The Few H22 Crew. We also added a Magnus Pro Clutch Slipper Valve so we can dial in the PERFECT launch for the dragstrip.

Without even watching the video and reading the description of the video, I liked it right away. Coming from a Honda enthusiast, Honda motors go forever!

It's crazy, huh? I had an '07 Si with the K20z3, and despite only having a little over 200whp after some N/A mods it was a blast and I beat the shit out of it in VTec to redline constantly. The motor and tranny were at 215k miles and still going strong until some lady totaled it, and all I had to do was regular oil changes and 1 clutch swap to make it last that long. I had a built/boosted B18C1 Teg with 375hp and a built/boosted '93 240sx Coupe with 400hp/475 ft lbs and I honestly can say I had just as much fun overall in that Si since I could beat on it constantly year after year driving the back roads in the Colorado foothills to work and never had to worry about something breaking every time I ripped it to redline.
Yup. Honda forever. Love it!

H lied, its not 700... they confirm it at 8:44. Its 560. Lol. Over 700whp actually exists, but this isnt it. 600whp has been done by thousands of setups. Crack 600whp, and good luck keeping it together for very long.
@@ThatRacingChannel Congrats on getting the car to where it is though. People don't realize that you joined the thousands that have been doing this for 15-20years actually. Kpro came out in 2004, so, about 18years ago power went from having a kseries have difficulty with just 300whp, to instantly cracking 400whp. Then setups with 800whp built block came out within two years. I personally worked on that car in 2006. Then, the over 600whp stock blocks came out, on blocks with even 250k- 300k miles. 5year old cars, driven 50k miles a year, 250k miles. I worked on one that had over 200k miles, near 600whp. Congrats. The newest part that wasn't done 15years ago, is the AWD, doing 10s, on street tires. That's impressive. I was originally not happy that this was click bait, because the power is not as advertised... instead you should have said "10second RSX on street tires." I get it though, this isn't a car guy that lives for cars and performance, it's a camera guy entraining us, trying to show us him building his car.

The car made 570 on about 19psi, which is the setting it trapped 132mph. the 137mph trap speed pass later in the video was on about 24-25 psi which we estimate to be close to the 680-700whp range. Based on weight of the vehicle and trap speed. As much as its become the norm on youtube to have click bait titles, we try our best to have a click bait free community 😂.

K's can hold so much power stock. Ive seen people pushing close to 800 fully stock motor. Truly the old K series are a marvel of engineering.

Love the DC5 myself, but I always found it odd that it never came with an LSD, but the Si did.
@@verothacamaro Because of the Stupid Acura division.. THe Japanese Type R did, and it is actually a better LSD than the Si version, but the Acura division denied it for the Type S because they thought it made the US model "too aggressive".. The Acura branding was going for more comfort. Ive never been a big fan of Acura's decisions.

The high rev of the k series engine has had my heart since high school, that’s why I got my 02 blue type s when I got life together. Can’t believe this is the suggestion y’all built. How freaking cool to see the biggest best version of the rsx type s get full attention. Wish someone around home could build Honda’s like this….There is one shop but I doubt it’s this quality of build

It’s all in the tuning. Have the engine tuned to perfection by a highly trained professional is the secret to success with any build. I’ve got a friend that’s running a Del Sol with a turbocharged B16A, stock bottom end and he’s making some pretty decent numbers.
400 to sometimes 500 HP is ok on certain b16 stock bottom ends.

Yeah I got to drive a dc5 integra type r same colour but rhd obviously as was here in England when they were a couple of years old and was very impressed with the whole car. I preferred it over the dc2 due to the more torquey k20 and the 6 speed manual always thought it would be great as a 4wd and turbo it looks like that power level works nicely with it

Car won’t be a time bomb in a few weeks at 900+. And it launches better on the street than prep with its current tires. Refer to last video in this series.

Absolutely! This wheel and tire combo was just to get baseline numbers while we sort out the built engine for the car and drag wheel/tire combo 🤙

Can anybody explain to me why the newer K20C1 engine even when heavily modded can not sound good like this? They all sound hollow and weak.
They have different sized cylinder boring ever so slightly and intake interior sizing
This car sounds like a Subaru flat engine.
1 big thing they have an exhaust manifold built into the head. Look up pictures of the cylinder heads of the k20c1 and previous gen k20s. The exhaust exits out of one hole in c1
Direct injection and the the exhaust manifold make most of it I think, plus it doesn't rev the much, only 7k
In the process of installing the built motor and cranking the horse power up, please install some slicks, we wanna see low low 9s results potentially high 8s. It can be done!!!

Mine is getting there, altho Going AWD and cutting into the car a bit is holding me back. Just because my Type S is such a low mile example and is in mint condition. Only 50K on the chassis and odometer. I have had $20K+ offers already for it this past year.

@@w0ntuanASMR Great to hear! Take care of that thing! 222k is nothing for a K as long as you stay up on maintenance and fluids. Hold onto it and just clean up thee chassis and interior over time and Im telling you in 10 years, these things will be going for big money.

Would have been 9's without such a long 3rd and 4th gear, you really hear the car struggle through them. Good stuff though! Built engine and slicks it will outrun the R32 GT-R with 1/2 the budget, and still have AC/PS/Cruise control.
Feel like the launch is pretty poor because 1st and 2nd spin like a mf. 3rd and 4th are the best gears in a Honda. He's in vtec the entire time in those gears and doesn't spin at all. Decent tires and some extra weight up front and he would run 9's
@@trystanskaggs2 I understand it doesn’t spin in 3-4, but you can audibly hear the car struggle to pull through those gears at his current power level.

what does it cost to convert to an awd system?
first off awsome car now i dont know the full rules of racing but u are doing the high speeds on the track all u have is the standard lap belt i hate to see u going at high speeds if something happend you crash all u have to depend on is the helmet and a standard lap belt is there is a way to can install the proper racing harness other then that good luck on the race season have a awsome day

No there is no loll…the 4g63 is the best 4 cyl, it’s been proven and that motor design is ancient. That K-series is 1 hell of a producer but they’re are documented 4g’s with well over 200k making good power and going 10s and 9 sec eta in the 1/4 mile and the blocks don’t crack over 1000hp either, the K-s will.

We basically rebuilt this car from the ground up, including an awd conversion. There was a lot to test and sort out before cranking up the power. In the meantime we were building a strong motor on the side. Now that we’ve sorted the drivetrain and the setup, all we have to do is swap in the built long block and crank it up. Plus it’s a ton of fun beating it up on the stock motor, wanted to see what it could handle haha 😎🙌
