How to Find and Pan for Diamonds
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 10. 04. 2017
- We went to a location famous for gold where diamonds had previously also been found. Diamonds are best sourced using a gold pan in conjunction with a fine sieve as most alluvial diamonds tend to be very small in size.

I just found your videos because I just started to Tumble stones and looking for a channel that really explains what to look for when looking for gemstones and other types of rocks. How do can you tell if it is a diamond and not a clear agate? Really glad I found your channel!!!

I am looking your good chhanel.it give me knowledgeous about different rocks and valuable minearals.
To test if it's a diamond...First thing I do is do a scratch test on sapphire which has a moh hardness of 9. Diamond being 10 moh hardness should scratch the sapphire. Next I use a Refractometer to determine the refraction index. Cheers, Liz
take what you think is a diamond , make friends with a X-ray Technician and have it X-rayed.. if its a Diamond it will glow or light up... or do a hardness test
i love your videos Liz. i rarely watch videos more than once, however i will watch your gem hunting videos over and over as they are so good. :)
I am so obsessed with finding crystals, I learn so much from your videos and it makes me realise that it is really easy to find some!!!!
Thank you!!
Diamond Panner: Just gold...
Gold Panner: WHY IS THERE NO GOLD, ITS JUST DIAMONDS, DIAMONDS AND DIAMONDS. đ€đ
Because it's a video about diamonds dumbass, not gold.
+Tim McHone why the anger?
Tim, do you know what humor is? Or context for that matter?
You got a few cogs misfiring bud
Nathan Tjio - honestly if I was panning I'd be extatic about either, the UK has nothing like this âčïž
Tim McHone
Woooosh
Nice to see you again. my mom and I have fun watching your videos here in El Salvador. We hope to see more videos like this soon.
Liz, I just love your channel. You're the best!
thanks for the video LIZ you inspired me through your actions.
Good to see you posting again. It would be so nice to see you find a really big diamond but some are better than none. Good luck on future prospecting. See you next time! :-)
This is the only channel I watch in full screen! Thanks for another great video Liz! :)
czcams.com/video/P5gbOr3TyJI/video.html diamond gel shaped
I've read some time back that the ole timers use to coat a board with axle grease , run water , material from the river ; everything except the diamonds would return to the river, the diamonds stuck to the grease.
Glad to see another video from you guys and good to see John out there having a dig. Cheers guys.
I liked the background music, it wasn't too loud and suited the video style
Watching your videos inspires me to follow my passion and do stuff like this when I grow up
Don't ever grow up. It's highly overrated. =)
gphx No truer words my friend : )
Ha, ha, ha!! đŸđđđđđ»đđ±đŸđđŸ
Some advice, i'm 32, still haven't accomplished anything I wanted to, still live in PA even though I absolutely hate winter and hate PA. Never think to yourself "someday", if you want to do something do it asap. Time flies.
@@robschannel5930 True enough! Keep lookin' for rocks out there,Rob-the best ones are in places that nobody looks at! I have found agates and fossils in places where people weren't officially saying that they were(you get the best stuff that way!) I am 60-still crazy about finding rocks-still finding some GREAT stuff-enjoy it all-time is zooming past....
*"I'm depressed, All I'm getting is GOLD"* Lol đ

Great video Man you have a eagle eye when it comes to spotting the smallest piece of gold in the dirt great job.
Liz, I am very impressed that you speak very clearly being easily to understand what you say, because most Australians slaughter (mess up) the English language.
You have to be the only person that complains about finding gold lol
LOL...I really prefer gemstones. The hubby is the one that's fanatical about gold. Thanks for watching and wishing you all the very best for the New Year. Cheers, Liz
Lol

Yeah, but not worth the wrath of the river gods.
Fufo tulfo
The device you typed your comment on has circuitry made of gold. Itâs not rare whatsoever.
J T and your cars exhaust system has palladium. The fact that it has practical uses is part of the reason itâs valuable.
I like the music & learning. Thanks for the info.
I was really impressed watching ur vidoes and those have taught me a lot of course confirms some of my rough stone but no gold so what's the new way to go?

I'm off to Eldorado for Easter, after this vid I'll be checking the pan extra careful seeing they have diamonds up there too. Great vid as always.
Sounds like a plan Balx. Hope you find a big one. Have fun out there and take care. Cheers, Liz
Liz Kreate Hi Liz, flaps my hands omg omg where is this location? :)
Balxies Gold Adventures. Good luck! Diamonds are really nice but there are ALOT of nice stones in the world. Main thing is have fun & keep on trucking.
Along with tons of junk I've kept going & find really nice jewelry, esp. rings. I found some red metal shiney rock too. One day will get it caked out.
That looks like such fun even if you don't find anything, a bit like beach combing xxxx
âFor the river godsâ I like it lol, awesome video!
MagnĂfico. Super like
Liz, thank you for the video! May I ask, do you use screen stacks as well to find diamonds. I know I see you use them for other gemstones in your other videos. I was curious why you didnât here.. thank you again!
NICE LIZ !!!!!!!!!!---ENJOYED YOUR VIDEO.
Hi Liz. I live in South Australia and was wondering what you think my chances are finding diamonds or gold or other precious metals / gem stones? I've tried a few rivers here but seem to have no luck (just panning)
This is very entertaining! đ
Thanks Liz. I love watching and learning. Best of luck :)
Thanks for watching Bromac. All the best, Liz
I love u and your video and the diamonds and gold.
Thank you so much for sharing that with us. I search for mysterious things all throughout remote locations of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range in California, USA and I just KNOW there is gold all around me! I'll use some of your tips you have shown. CHEERS!

You're welcome and thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck and take care out there. Happy Hunting. Cheers, Liz
thank you liz. i live in gold country in california. in the 60's my uncle found enough gold to buy a small home. so ya never know what may turn up. also, at clear lake , after a rain storm my girl friend found several pea sized diamonds on top of the ground, no panning necessary. she had them cut and mounted. i miss your little birdie video s.
Thanks for watching. If I were you, I'd be frequenting that spot to find some more.
Pedro now has his own channel called "Pedro the Budgie" and I've just posted a video a few days ago. There's also a link to his channel below this video in the description box. All the best, Liz
In the 60s, it costed a heck of a lot less for a home. Any individual person prospecting isn't going to be able to do that today.
i have paid for my home and made a good living as a full time prospector for 20 years!
lepayen a couple years ago a guy in Australia found a nugget the size of a baby as well. It can still be done here, i see it all the time
Rarely, and you'd have to find a fairly big nugget, or a lot of them to afford to buy a house. Most likely, they would have found something like that on their property. When it comes to property you don't own, you still have to stake a claim before you can take gold, and you'd have to know there's gold there and that nobody else has a claim on it. At best, you could pan rivers and such and hope to find enough to make the day worth going out.
Do you know where we could find information on diamond and gem stone hunting in Alabama and Georgia?
I wanna do this omg I will spot them instantly and no need for a tester I am incredibly keen on diamonds đ
Amazing video thank you
Very interesting Video, can swing a detector for days but don't know that I would have the patience to pan for any length of time. Cheers peter T
Your job is amazing l love it .from algeriađđđđđ
I subed because you find so many gems and gold and.nice.vids
Thanks for the tips
great video but i was wodering if you could do a video on what tools you use when you go rock hounding
I once went out looking for Herkimer diamonds. Some family was looking for them too. They were finding them everywhere. I ended up buying one at a local store.
OMG you know how many of those I have seen when I pan out here? I am going back to where I go!!!
Very inspirational.
As an ex prospector myself, I find diamonds are the hardest to find. They are found in Pike's Creek, below the dam and are quite small, about 1-2 mm and are often mixed with other gemstone like Garnet, Quartz, Sapphires and some occasional Emeralds of non commercial value. Diamonds glow in water and are best seen in a fired metal pan. The pan is placed on a campfire until very hot, then thrown into the cold water so that it turns a soft blue hue. Gold is also seen as tiny specks to a 2-3mm grains. Black and or dark green plastic pans are also good but I preferred the metal one. All the precious grains of gold and gems are often associated with black sand. that takes so much time to separate. So, I used to put the last bit of the wash with Gold or gems and black sand in a bucket then take it home and let a revolving separator to remove the gold or gems from the black sand. Some places also show speckles of shining feldspar and granite flakes that generally overflow out the pan with the water.
That looks like fun!
Fantastic!
cant wait to start doing this in Queensland
i im bi fan of you youtubers are the best
LIZ KREATE....Super..
Nice Liz.
a nice video again... thanks
Good video. I have panned for gold before and made 4 videos of my experience, but I am no where near experienced. Finding gold while attempting to find diamonds would distract me enough to continue wanting to find gold. Just my two cents on the matter. I do plan on going to the Arkansas Diamond mine this year for my first time ever prospecting for diamonds. Hopefully I find something there. If I do ill have a video on it as well.
Wow! John is so determined, he won't even swap the flies on his face đČđČ
Just been researching about the place IÂŽm going on vacation and IÂŽm going to Thailand in the province Phetchabun and found out that it is possible to find diamond and I would love to try finding one but how do i check if itÂŽs a diamond I got? You learned me about the weight and where to look for them but Diamonds have many colors and I thought maybe thay got something in commen? Like I know something about their Hardness is the think with scratching glass true?
Ive had 4 coffees and am having panic attacks. Your videos are helping me not to completely lose my mind.
a nice 3-5 gallon bucket would be nice for ye to carry more material. it would be interesting if you used a type of vacuum (hand operated so you didn't have to lug power or fuel of course) to pull up material from those hard to dig spots
The Beauty of uncut diamonds (=
very nice
You are my hero Liz
Woah I absolutly love your videos thank you I've learded alot .Do you have an ebay store?if so whats the link.
Watching this make me wonder, did I had diamonds in my hand while playing the rivers, when I was young? Thanks for great information you have on all the videos. Make me want to go and explores in my treasure hunting prospects.
hack f zay: Diamonds are not always associated with gold! You have to know in which type of rocks diamonds occur and the age of the rocks and if it's eroded... In New South Wales, where Liz is looking, small diamonds have been found in this area. However, the source of the diamonds have never been found whereas in Western Australia they found through extensive sampling, mainly along old river beds, the source of a very rich diamond mine, Argyll, which at one time was the largest producing diamond mine, BY VOLUME in the world. In fact, Crater Lake diamonds in Arkansas have similar coloured diamonds as those in the Argyll Mine. Both Crater Lake and Argyll rocks are what is called lamproites. You would be better off going to Crater Lake in Arkansas to find diamonds...
Sorry, that should be yack... Stupid autocorrect!
very nice !!!!!!
Really liked the music. Never give up & have fun looking
Do you know anything about lake rock diamonds? A person said they weren't 'worth much' but I'd just like to see what they look like.
It still might be fun making jewelry or things for my doll houses. Just a thought.
congratulations Liz kreate i lıke ıt your works..
Thanks for watching and commenting Selman. Cheers, Liz
How do you differentiate between quarts Crystal amethist and diamond?
thanks Liz very helpful and friendly great photo of diamonds found could you please show checking of them to be diamonds if possible
I'll keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Liz
Is this video located in Australia or another country?
I live in Andalucia in spain near Almeria. There's gold but microscopic and no placer that I've found..The geology is perfect and now thinking of looking for gemstones instead. What colour gravel should Iook for. A lot of grey schist and red quartz, some of the streams run red with the iron oxide its so concentrated..any tips would be good..
Interesting videos, love to do what you are doing, good instructions. You don't need the background music, its distracting.
hello liz i just join in because i love looki g for gold and most diamonds and i would like you if you can tell me some places to go to please i leve in sydney nsw i ha e a metal detector can measure gold u der grou d up to 10 mtrs deep a d im buying soo a machine can detect diamonds about 10 mtrs thank you
If you ever make it to the U.S., you should visit "Crater of Diamonds State Park. It's the only diamond mine in the world that's open to the public. It routinely produces high gem quality stones, including the Strawn-Wagner diamond, which was graded as a "perfect" 0/0/0.
Adults- $10 (USD)
13 and up- $8
6 to 12- $5
Hey Liz,
Where in QLD are you? I am interested in seeing if the diamonds are being transported downstream from an old kimberlite.
Hi Clara, This is in Southern tablelands of NSW. Cheers, Liz
Nice video.
I can ask you a question can it be true that in the areas of rivers with volcanoes there are diamonds and rubies?
Amazing vid
