To me, 《bocchi the rock》 is S tier not because of its relatability, but its direction and passion the crew behind the show gives it. Try reading the manga, you will find out how incredibly bare bone and simple it is, no offense to the mangaka. It is a 4-koma style of manga, with each segment tells a different story. Yet the anime transforms that source of material into something amazing.
Let's compare 《Senryuu Shoujo》to 《Bocchi the Rock》. Both are 4-koma manga and have gotten their anime adaptation with the same time length. 《Senryuu Shoujo》anime follows closely to the original material, barely changes anything, which is nice and respectful toward the mangaka. However, because of this, the staff has no way other than to slow the pace of the overall anime, which imo is deadly to the 4-koma style and overall anime experience, making it boring to watch and essentially forcing viewers to skip and eventually stop watching. I immediately got bored after the first 10 minutes in and couldn't be bothered to continue on.
Meanwhile, with 《Bocchi the Rock》, the staff, instead of just using the base material, adds in their own taste of improvisation and creativity. For example, in the 《House visit》episode, the entire Bocchi's parents interaction is completely original to the anime, which makes it very enjoyable and properly paced instead of slowing it down in order to complete the time requirement. Not only that, there are parts where the whole team actually goes out and take pictures and films in real life to add to the anime, making it much more engaging and entertaining to watch. Furthermore, they also go all out to actually put in and continuously alternate multiple art styles, which is incredibly rare for anime nowadays, which allows for various types of emotions and situations while being fun and enjoyable.
Overall, I would say 《Bocchi the Rock》is an incredible surprise for this season, and definitely deserves S-tier and every slice of life, comedy style anime should take this as a prime example of how to make an anime adaptation good and entertaining.

The biggest and deciding difference between K-ON an Bocchi The Rock is the setting. K-ON takes place in a highschool because they are in a music club, while Kessoku Band in Bocchi The Rock is a legit band so thats why they spend their time more in the livehouse. Thats why some people enjoy K-ON more than Bocchi and why some people enjoy Bocchi more thay K-ON. The friendship between the cast is the most important thing in K-ON, thats why it takes place in highschool, while the band and music is the centerpiece in Bocchi The Rock, shown by their hangout place; a livehouse.
For someone who wants an anime that really focuses on the music and band aspect, they might enjoy Bocchi The Rock more. For someone who wants a cute and relaxing slice-of-life anime where the music takes second place, K-ON is probably their choice.

I think not many people would agree with me, but all four main Kessoku girls are kinda relatable in a way. And yes, not just Bocchi.
-> Kita, despite being a social girl who can easily connect to people, and be able to sing in front of crowds, still felt like she didn't contribute much. Hell, even Nijika and Ryou also felt the same. They need to improve not just individually, but also as a team.
-> Nerds would relate to the urge to explain facts that interested them the way Ryou did 😂🤣
-> People who had shy introverted friend/s would relate to how the rest of Kessoku girls treated Bocchi.
Anyone can relate with any of these girls.

The interesting thing is, Kita doesn't look like it at first, but she is the most similar to Bocchi in a sense, she does have her own type of social anxiety, but the way she faces things is by throwing and forcing herself to situations, she does half assing at times and she knows it, which is also a neat detail how, among the band, both of these two are in the same year and same school, compared to Ryo and Nijika who are one year older and different school, and she keeps messing up at times, buying the wrong instrument, episode 10, and other times more, Kita extrovert side is the kind of having many friends but not close enough, and in Bocchi she has someone that truly is close to her and sticks with her, which makes their dynamic so fun and wholesome
Nijika is also a different type, she is a more calm extrovert but she also knows how to keep her distance and take time for herself, we even see it when everyone going about their holidays, she spent most of it in the clubhouse or at home working, while Ryo is the most introvert of them and shows how a healthy introversion is, it's not something bad, it's just a way she is, where she gets more outspoken or crazy when it comes to things she likes, the show really makes a good way to show us this with no need to giving us a text wall about it, and develops them further as it goes

K-on did not cover the processes and perils of forming and playing with a band, it's a show that shows school life through forming a band but not about the band that much outside of the songs. Bocchi really captures what all band wannabes (including yours truly) had to go through, all the while showing the real personalities of each band members. For that Garnt's right this show is fuckin top tier AAA type slice of life, coming of age band anime like how Blue Period is with art.

i used to be a Shounen Junkie once upon a time. looked down on slice of life. i was also a dub only thinking all jp dubs were high pitched voices that didn't fit the character
(thank japanese goku for that misunderstanding) but ironically it was Deltora Quest's adaption (terrible adaption to be honest but i watched it because it was my favorite book series) season 1 was dubbed but season 2 was only available in sub. i couldn't handle not knowing so i bit the bullet, jumped in, and to my surprise the voices weren't like i imagined them to be. they fit the characters and there was no out of character high pitched voices. thus it took a shitty anime adaption that i will never watch again to cure my dub only misunderstanding.
this opened me up to enjoying subbed anime as well...Buuuuuut i was still a Shounen Junkie so it was limited to action packed fight anime. then i found the dubbed version of the original Kino's Journey. it had fight scenes that satisfied my Shounen Junkie urges but it also had philosophical questions and got my brain thinking, it was down to earth and it opened my eyes to the fact that i had been ignorant to. SoL anime DOES have story its just not your conventional kind. its varied in the ways it conveys its story but they all tell a story. this all was long ago.
if you are still here the point is i know that mindset of ACTION FLASHY FIGHTS GOOD no flashy fights bad. i pity those still stuck with that mindset.
i don't look down on all Shounen (just the ones i don't like after having tried them.) like a SoL puritan i enjoy a good Shounen anime just like i always have. but i also enjoy and don't shun the SoL genre like a Shounen Junkie. i am just an anime fan. sub or dub war i belong to neither side and find the war meaningless. genre, studio, the VA, none of that will prevent me from pursuing an interesting summery. i enjoy what i enjoy. give me a summery and if i find it interesting i will give the first episode a watch if it catches me i will gladly continue if not i will still give it 2 more chances to do so before i quit. Slow Loop was the winter show that was much more than just cute girls fishing, but became an introspective series about family. Bocchi was one of the ultimate expressions of anime as a medium and a wonderful introvert music series. And they're both in the same series of magazines and feature quick cameos in each series (Kessoku Band playing in a show in Slow Loop and the main characters from Slow Loop on the cellphone charms of SICK HACK's guitarist).

Bruh, I was about to mald if he kept Bocchi in the mid tiers lol.
I'm so glad that Garnt placed it in the "S" tier. It's probably one of the best slice-of-life anime I've ever seen. As much as I *_love_* "K-ON," I can kinda understand why Garnt didn't really like it. Unlike Bocchi, which focuses on an actual band who has goals that they *_want_* to accomplish, "K-ON" was pretty much the epidimy of "cute girls doing cute things." And because Yui and co were in an after school club and were not as productive as the girls in "Bocchi the Rock," you can't really connect with it as much.
Another thing I loved about "Bocchi the Rock" was the way that it tackled social anxiety through the use of over-the-top animations. Not only is it visually appealing, but it hits you harder than most other anime that had already tackled similar topics. Even the writing got a laugh out of me a few times. Especially whenever Ryo is on screen. And do I even have to mention the *amazing* music lol?

A roller coaster of emotions, descended from heaven to show us ordinary folks the wonders of not just rock, but BOCCHI THE ROCK. One can not claim to have come to realize the true value of this masterpiece without the divine devotion I possess. I wake up every morning looking forward to watching Bocchi's astounding guitar solo for the 1472th time. Every day at work I feast my ears on the lovely musics of Kessoku Band, hitting my table furiously as I imagine myself playing the drums for Bocchi as she slaughters the audience with her bewildering guitar riff. Every night I cry myself to bed knowing Bocchi will never suffocate me to death with her humongulous badonkers. It makes me feel the cruelty of this world I live in all the way to my core. But despite all my suffering, it's Bocchi's awkward smile that gets me through each day, telling me, TATAKAE. This is why Bocchi the Rock means the world to me. I BREATHE Bocchi the Rock. The animation variety just increased the value of the show more and the comedic effect.
Bocchi as a protagonist worked really well where at first, she's just a girl getting pulled along the story but slowly trying to develop herself along the way. And let's not forget the likeable members of the Kessoku band. They're not just one-dimensional characters to fill the typical band trope, they have personalities and charm of their own.

One of the things Bocchi the Rock does really well is actually confronting the fact that their band sucks to start with, and their character growth is getting to a place where their performances are "decent". They have potential - their band members are all fantastic individually - but they aren't used to playing together and lack the kind of confidence and energy that really makes a great band, and that's something they just have to push through and work on.
