    It is great how my favorite historical shooting channels does a collaboration on the Mad Minute. The Chap on the BotR covers the French and less ubiquitous rifles, Rob in britishmuzzleloaders the British standard arms, and Nemeth from capandball the Ausro-Hungarian rifles. Looking forward to more videos on the subject from all three channels!

    Insane how cool the Werndl rifle and most of the early single shot rifles looked .The feeling of chambering it with a round that you treat as special and you take your time aiming as you focus fully on that precise long range shot or just quickly reloading it with great haste to hit many targets ... just amazing .Pair it with a uniform of the time , a Saber and a Smith and Wesson Model 3 and I could take on the world .
    Why have they never done proper repros of the early single shots ? .

      @drakegrizzell4258 Před 2 lety +6

      Unfortunately it does not appeal to the "mass market" so enamoured with the next modern mess in the world of firearms. That being said, I certainly agree the romance of these marvelous rifles hearken to an optimism of a previous age, and I certainly would back anyone who decided to make and sell accurate reproductions of these rifles.

    • @comradecosmonaut7746
      @comradecosmonaut7746 Před 2 lety +2

      Because most people are more interested in more modern stuff also add to that that the biggest market for civilian shooting in general, the US, is full of people that only realy care about American firearms of that time hence why those actually do get reproductions made by companies such as uberti or pedersoli and the rest doesn't.

    • @CtrlAltRetreat
      @CtrlAltRetreat Před 2 lety +1

      Nah, the primary reason is that old cartridges require repro brass,which c&rsenal can tell you, gets very expensive very fast. Most folks looking for older model repros will go for muzzle loaders to avoid legacy reloading and take advantage of muzzle loader hunting laws. A breechloader design also has to compete vs modern arms in the field and hunts during the same season. Even so, rolling block rifles are still in demand because shooters like these old single shots, but need something with ammo or loading component availability.

    This is an outstanding video. I have reloaded for Black Powder Cartridge Rifle. I have found that using a drop tube of at least 1/3m helps give me a cleaner burn Also, I leave the slight flare on the case mouth, I feel that it helps clean some of the fouling out of the neck area of tapered and necked cases. I reload for 1886 Winchesters, 1873 "Trapdoor" Springfields and 1885 Highwalls and Low wall Winchesters. You must flatten the flare for the lever actions but can leave it in the single shots.

    muzzle velocity we actualy get is always under the initial velocity. first reason: the developper of the rifle could have said more than he realy had.
    second reason the cases today are very sturdy and thicker than ancient ones, resulting in fewer powder inside. 440 m/s is realy good
