I feel like you have to call the extra 100k no?
The problem is Antonius overplayed the hand. He shouldn't really be making that raise with a worse hand than 99 in their dynamic, and T9 and TQ both beat Daniel. You see that Phil Ivey even snap folded to Daniel's bet, and Iveys hand was only one notch worse than Antonius. When Antonius makes the raise he has to expect to be called by worse, which he can't be, unless he's up against bad players. This is why it was an overplay which caused Dnegs to fold.

Not an unreasonable fold maybe but yes a 100k more was a pretty good price with 9s full.
Another thing in the hand is the Ivey turn call and river tank fold which makes it almost certain he folded a T removing quads from Antonius’ range.
@@grindix I wouldn't agree it was obvious that Ivey was holding a 10. he didn't bet a single street and ended up folding before putting any more money in, which makes this hand even crazier

So much history between these guys. They all felt like Patrick was super strong - that's why Ivey folds in the middle. You can see him glance with a bit of frustration at Patrick as he folds

I would never claim to know the thought process of Daniel Negreanu, he's obviously miles better than me at poker, and he knows Antonius better too. But I think the only value hand you beat in this spot is pocket 5s. T9, Q10, pocket Ts would all take the same line as Antonius did. While hands like K10 like Ivey had was at best a call. So if Daniel had a read on Antonius and knows that he is not bluffing, he is beat most of the time.

The thing is, as Daniel explained in his hand break down, Patrick should NEVER have fives in his range because it doesn’t ever make sense to raise with it at all. He doesn’t get any value because Daniels worst hand he’s betting for value into two other players who have strong ranges is MAYBE AT, but even that is marginal value because you might get guys like Phil who are so keel on Daniels ranges that they might fold a ten, like Phil did with KT. 55 loses to all of Daniels value hands so it doesn’t make sense to raise with it, and it didn’t even cross his mind that he could possibly have 55 because it doesn’t make sense and burns money. Daniel has said he would play the hand exactly the same, and Patrick says that he would play it differently, and if that’s the case than you have to live with the decision as Daniel

He didn't even consider it an error, even made a video explaining why it's still a good fold in theory even though this particular time Patrik had worse, Daniel expects to lose here 99/100 times therefore he still likes his fold
EXPECTED VALUE is the thing in poker. Singular situations dont matter, it matters what is the EV
it's a bad fold because we see the cards, in reality, it's not that crazy of a fold, He loses to a lot of hands (Q/Q, 10/10, Q/10, 10/9, and 10/5)
Totally agree. The only value hand he beats is the one Patrick happens to have. Probably a reasonable fold, even though it doesn't look that way when you can see the cards.

Y'all are talking nonsense. All those hands aren't in consideration. There's what you call ranges for a reason, he blocks T,9 and T,5 is definitely not in consideration.
Calling several rounds of bets against 2 players, one of pot size also cancels out the likelihood of Q,Q. The only hands reasonable of beating him there are T,T and Q,T.
And with just that hand to consider, that was a horrible fold.

I can understand the fold from Daniel. You beat 5s full. You lose to QT, T9, TT, QQ, all of which Patrick could have. Bluffs are extremely unlikely given the action (multi-way pot). It does make sense as a fold given no further information.

Everyone is so results oriented, If Patrick has QQ or or 10 Q or the only combo of 9 10 Daniel is a hero.. but what value hands is he beating really? 55 might be it, he just flats A10 or maybe K10 he may even fold those hands.. there so is so many boats available. QQ, Q10 combos, the last combo of 9/10 even.. And he’s laying such a good price it makes his hand look even stronger… also I promise Patrick thought he had the best hand, he wasn’t turning 5’s full into a bluff.. so if Daniel has some live read (i know this is a stretch) then he picks up on Patrick thinking he has the best know and assuming 55 is the only combo he’s beating I don’t hate his fold.. but I’m stuck playing 2/5 where they just always seem to have it. So what do I know.

Daniel you are a legend in the game of poker and poker is not for everyone so many people lose their life getting addicted to gambling, I'm one of the victim of it, so much so that I'm thinking about suicide due to debt i have. Please help me Daniel i want to clear this debt and leave gambling and just be fan of poker
You can never bet money you dont have. Sadly the first rule of gambling. If your betting sports and a bookie is charging juice every week you will be in debt forever. But why take your life? That is not the way out. If you are dealing with “real” people your family will become targets after your suicide. This is crazy to see on a poker video. Best of luck to you.
