    Definitely yes to the splicing series, please. My wife and I were joking that never mind Bear Grilles or Ant Partington, we would choose Magnus. your knowledge on seemingly everything is incredible.

    We had an engine fill with water at sea during a delivery. It took a long time to sort everything out as the boat rolled constantly. I think a splicing video would be welcomed by many viewers. I've made a ton of splices for other vessels because the owners didn't know how.

    Yeah! Bring on the splice videos! Troy (Free Range Sailing) had some great demonstrations of knot tying - worth a look. Like yourself, he's a natural communicator.

    Lucky to find that water when you did.
    Those alloy backleak rail washers on the injectors are only meant to be a one time use item, but as you only really disturbed just the one it shouldnt leak. Any diesel shop will have replacements if needed, the same washers fit every small engine regardless of make with P-size injectors like yours has.
    Did you test the glowplugs before reinstalling them.?
    Should invest in a 21mm or 22mm deep socket to remove the injectors as a whole unit rather than stripping in place.
    Need to get a few hours on the engine after its little swallow of seawater.

    Cool Vid!
    I think that the water in the engine would have stopped me dead in my tracks...
    BTW the Dyneema splice you've made looks like a Brummel eye splice to me Magnus.

    Hi Magnus Well spotted with the water in the engine before cranking. I've had two of those Trusdesign siphon breaks fail the same way! Luckily they didnt move below water line. But it is going to be a royal pain replacing them.

    Do you have filters to remove water before the diesel enters the engine. I hada Volvo Penta and they were very pro be to stopping when shaken up by a heavy sea

      The anti-siphon loop fell off the ‘wall’ and ended up below the waterline. Thanks for your comment. W.

    Bravo on the splicing video that you can follow. Most of them skip the critical bit, without which your splice is absolute shite. I well remember it taking me AGES to make sense of a basic eye splice in three strand. I could never figure out the third strand, as there never seemed to be an adjacent strand to tuck it under that didn’t already have a strand ticked under! Finally I got there, but no thanks to about 50 videos!

    Why did you dissassemble that injector insitue & not just remove it from the head ? Was the injector in the way & not allowing you to remove the head bolt ?

    • @LifeinaNutshell
      @LifeinaNutshell  Před rokem

      Magnus didn’t have the correct spanner to get the injector out in one go. He had to disassemble it in situ so that he could get to the bottom of the injector to remove it to get access to the head bolt.
      We tried to buy the correct spanner but it wasn’t available. W.
