Russian/soviet history, I think people do not really understand how far behind the Soviet economy/military was when it comes to electronics. Anything that relied on microprocessors was either much harder to come by, worse than what the US had, and in all honesty, usually both worse and less available. The soviets were great at heavy industry, but terrible when it came to electronics. The russians, having inherited mostly 80s soviet military equipment have tried to modernize it with more advanced electronics, with some success, but they don't have the same emphasis on optics, fire control systems, guided munitions, avionics, etc. that the US has, its simply not in Russian military culture, and combined with corruption. The funny thing is Wagner group could have done a coup in Russia with better Results then fighting in Ukraine…😅

Just to give you an idea of military development at the cost of civil goods production in USSR:
1957 - launched first satellite to space
1969 - started producing toilet paper
And that is not a joke..🤣

Putin is VERY careful about who gets mobilized. It is not the elite in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, it is in fact the ethnic minorities who are called up disproportionately. From Tavush Republic, Tatars, Dagastanis and many many others in Asian Russia. They are very careful to only lightly touch European Russians. The mobilization is very calculated. This must be talked about and the effect it has on the thousands of small villages where most of the young men who live there are taken at once only to return shortly in body bags. This is what is barely talked about and also plays a big part of why the general population is not more overtly against the war.

"China produces 4 to 5 times more graduates in STEM than in the U.S." and we wonder why they've grown so rapidly technologically. Duh?? In the U.S. you have to be RICH to even get into college/university and if you're not rich but get in, you have to take out loans and/or work your butt off to pay tuition, books, room & board which leaves less time to study. Topics such as Physicis, Math, Engineering take lots of time to become an "expert".

Ukraine already lost most trained and motivated soldiers along with almost all hardware it had before the war plus hundreds of tanks and IFVs it got from Eastern Europe (to understand the scale of losses it had 1 990 tanks, 1 212 IFVs, 1 112 heavy artillery systems, 354 multiple rocket launchers). Its army is a shadow of its former self at the beginning of the war. Zelenskyy is catching and forced conscripting often at gunpoint mostly people with zero motivation to die for him, who never served in the army, often disabled . When such people are in the trenches, it means that the front can collapse at any moment. According to WaPo of all places Russians have 1:6 advantage in artillery (you can imagine their real advantage). 85% of Ukrainian soldiers are killed even without seeing an enemy. Biden administration is getting quite desperate. The only option left for Biden administration is to throw Polish army into a meat grinder . I just hope that Polish government isn't that crazy.

And Trump told Putin he could keep the Crimea. Trump never criticized Putin for that because he didn't want to offend his daddy. And he got Georgia when Bush was in office. So there's two republican presidents that told Putin he could keep Georgia and Crimea. Because republicans were tough on Putin by saying he could keep territories he invaded. Okay numbnuts.
