  • We just started homeschooling our autistic son and let me tell you it is a learning experience for both of us. It’s hard to get his attention and he definitely doesn’t see home and a school setting. Little by little it will get easier.
    In this video I show our quick and easy homeschool activities that I incorporate throughout the week with my 7 year old nonverbal son.

    Lots of duplo got me through the younger years. Possibilities were endless let's build a yellow tower, make what I made, plus new vocabulary with the windows and car pieces.

    Do you have any musical instruments in the house? Hand banging on a desk can have a sensory release for him. A kid drum set? Maybe a simple digital keyboard? A guitar? You can have him wear headphones, so he doesn't disturb others. Have you tied using 3x3 simple puzzles?

      we are looking into a hand drum. He wasn’t into piano but I think a drum would be cool

    We've been using those new Pop It things for math & shapes and direction skills. Has worked......somewhat well so far...def keeps my boys attention more than a lot of other items we've tried
    "Let's pop all the corners" "let's pop them & make a square" "let's pop four of them on this line; now 3 of em"

    I suggest you use a flat table to prevent the puzzle pieces from falling.

    Omg baby. There’s so much work you do. I’m about to pop too 38 w and having an almost 3 y old autistic boy and I’m so nervous I’m not going to manage it. My son is in a 45h a week therapy school and not that severe. And I cannot sleep at night I’m so worried.
    😔

      You can handle everything that comes your way. I know the unknown is scary. I’m worried about the future as well with a newborn but we will do our best because we love our kiddos and we will adapt and learn what works best for us all. Sending good vibes! Stay strong omg you’re almost there 💙🤰🏻

      His occupational therapist said a slanted board may help him attend. I think I got that one at target. I saw some on Amazon as well. Im thinking of getting one that isn’t so big 😂

    My grandson Jacob is four years old. My question is how do you know when Christian is in pain. Beside crying do you follow some steps you rule out. It hard to determine on non-verbal.

    • @ROCKNSTIMS
      @ROCKNSTIMS  Před 2 lety

      Kinda like with babies. Lots of body quo’s. He’s irritable,crying tired ect. For Christian his usual pain he starts feeling is growing pain. How we tell is very irritable,leg stiffness and crying. it’s not easy to tell tho 😩
