Interrogator: "How many are we going to fill him with my lord?"
Inquisitor: "Just keep crammin-em in there, I'll tell you when to stop."
*Inquisitor sips caffeine*
I can hear Thadius in my mind when I read this
“Infest him with every daemon we have- wait. I’m afraid that what you heard was ‘infest him with a lot of daemons’.
What I said was ‘infest him with every daemon we have’.
Do you understand?”

The Grey Knights on a budget. One of my favorite chapters.
Those Administratum budget cuts came down hard and now we all have to make sacrifices.

Grey Knights on a very tight budget. Homeless shelter level
The grey knights are the exorcists on a budget
The two should exchange notes but than again, GK might destroy them for not being GK. on the other hand having GK give thumps up would be way more reliable than whatever inquisitional cult they are allied with.
"Because why just defy deamons, when you can toy with them and say 'go fuck yourself'?" - Exorcist Librarian's musings, M42
Fist successors of the highest caliber; not only do they defend the Imperium, they defend their very selves in the most intense way possible.
(Im still convinced that the choir we hear in the background of each of these videos is canon, and that Oculus just has like, a couple dozen servitors in his studio singing while he does his work)

I literally have found it on Spotify and can link it if you would like
I used to think my homebrew successor chapter being purple with white pauldrons was too on the nose. I see now that I have nothing to fear. I might even add gold details just for fun.
See the Sons of the Phoenix
*Thinks about the colours* "Wait a minute..."
You might wanna take a look at the "galactic partridges" they're a 4chan homebrew. No no, they come from the /tg board so it's ............MOSTLY free of 4chan cancer. Absolutely hysterical.
@@iona2225 did you just notice the Exorcists are a Word Bearers successor, or was mine more subtle than I thought?
@@MrPooleish Your homebrew led me to your stated conclusion, yes. I am a bit dense with this stuff, your comment pushed over the first dominion which led to the obviousness of the Exorcists.
Whenever the Exorcists go for a walk, they asked the Daemons how's their health plan.
Apparently it was great.
Sadly no named character of this chapter goes by Alucard

Pride comes before the fall.

This implies the Exorcists are minding their own business in their fortress monastery, chillaxing like ballers.

They should get Robutte Guillaman to use the emperor's flaming sword to relieve the suffering of the lost. He would might be understanding should he be informed. Guillaman has his own heresy that he is hiding. The sword would permanently kill the demons within the lost.
‘’Hello there daemons, it’s me, ya boy”

Wether I’m watching something else on CZcams, playing a game, watching a show, everything else Im doing gets paused when Oculus drops a new lore video. My poor wife is a stoic champ when it comes to me excusing myself with IPad and earphones when it happens lol. Love your work, they are both excellent lore material and comfort listening to me. Emperor bless you.
(Slaps top of Exorcists head)
This bad boy can fit so many souls in it...
Oh HELL YES. This is a rich new vein for the franchise. Here's hoping the best successor, yes that one, gets a video too.
No doubt that’s got to be the Black Templars

Black Templars best chapter.

Have to love how Oculus went into the detail about the post-possession mutations of the Exorcists. 'Eyes that are too far apart, Grins that have too many teeth...' Bloody hell! First time I heard that. Love how each of demon of the four ruinous powers leaves different types of scars on the possessed. Great review of one of my favourite chapters.
Hard day at work, hard day at home. Thank you for this video to help me unwind
You've a style that meshes with lovecraftian stories. I'd swear your reading matches EXCEPTIONALLY close to the HPPodcraft reading of "The Haunter in the Dark". Hell, if it turns out you did that one too? I'd not be surprised.
That was Andrew Leman who did most of the readings and for the main podcast too
Ohhh Chapters Index to expand the Badab War content? Can't wait for the Carcharodons, Executioners, Sons of Medusa, Minotaurs (unless you wanna save that for the Orphean War?) etc in that case. Some of the most unique Chapters in all of 40k were involved and would make for a fascinating closer look and study 🤔
If Magnus were ever to be redeemed, I’m sure he would happily adopt the Exorcists as his honorary sons. While not potent psykers, they understand the benefit of studying the daemonic in order to fight it, and are not afraid of being touched by the Warp (often with their flesh literally changing) in order to do so.
They’re like that student who isn’t naturally booksmart, but still studies hard anyway in order to get into the field he thinks is best suited for him. Nerds would be proud.
Magnus can't because of Dorn's geneseed, but I doubt the Templars will accept them as kin🤷♂️

A really compelling premise for a character would be an exorcist trying to pass off as fine and dutiful but harbouring a dark grudge against the chapter and the specific inquisitor that decided to put Multiple never borne in him.
Winters SEO’s custom chapter “the 13th” is a collection of survivors from the 13th founding chapters iirc.
I fully believe they are word bearers, either loyalists that survived or their gene seed was used. Their faith in the emperor and ability to cast off demons gives me plenty of reason to believe this.
It’s entirely possible. The Minotaurs chapter are secretly descended from Iron Warriors who stayed loyal during the heresy and there are other chapters similar too.
@@glyngreen538 So are the Silver skulls.
The Shadow Wolves are Luna Wolves
the blood ravens - thousand sons
red scorpions and death eagles - emperor's children
iron snakes - alpha legion
mortifactors - death guard
carcaradons - night lords
and the world eaters could be any chapter that prefers melee combat.
I really feel giving the Exorcists a special geneseed just guilds the lily.
@@professorsponge1554 The Carcharodons are strongly implied to be one of the many Terran-born Raven Guard fleets that Corax had permanently exiled for their stubborn adherence to their cruel and slave-making practices.
Man, I knew about the Exorcists before, but seeing it all spelled out like this with your excellent narration really brings home how extra-super-duper (official Inquisitorial designation btw) heretical, insane and dangerous it is haha!
I was telling some friends about this chapter last night! The God Emperor works in mysterious ways.
Indeed
Obligatory report in from an exorcist viewer. Taking it to a tourney next sat wish me luck.
Watching this made me realize that we have yet to het a more broken down categorization of the warp entities constantly referred to...given previous demonic entries...im excited for it.
Robute's black sheep...? XD So much potential here for some cool kitbashes
Hmm, good choice of a Chapter to cover. I'd like to watch an Emperor's Spears one, or a Guardians of the Covenant. These are always a pleasure, thank you.
One of my favorites:) A very revelatory passage Chronicler, well done.
The best Thousand Sons successor clan.
“The Exorcists, huh?”
- “Yes”
“So I imagine you’re Grey Knights who are really good at exorcising Demon-hosts and the like, right?”
- “…”
“…Right?!?”
I mean, they probably ARE quite good at exorcising daemons. They've had the practice...
Technically yes. The best _kind_ of 'yes'.
A video on one of the best chapters by THE best 40k loremaster!
A treat as always ❤
At 3:22 the phrase “None know precisely how many Chapters were raised during this founding” is repeated in short succession.
A quirk of Oculus Imperia is that they leave in at least some of those moments where they flub/redo a line. Personally I like it, adds further veracity to the feeling of this being a series of recordings by a scribe rather than word perfect lectures.
Its simple.
I see Oculus Imperia video, I click.
Easy life. Good life.
Oh... Nice! New Video
I will admit, the Exorcists were my first possible choice for my primaris, but, instead I chose to make a White Scars successor chapter, lets me make my own theme, and I chose to use Native Americans :)
I think the White Scars are Mongols. The old Dark Angels were Amerindian themed way, way back in the day.
White scars aesthetics are Mongolian, but I'm pretty sure that any nomads based astartes would be similar in combat style. Only trappings would change.
This guy ladies and Gentleman...
This oculus guy...
cant believe occulus just snitched on the exorcists

Lookin at you, Leandros, freaking blue falcon 😠
this vid reminded me that before the eye of terror, the imperium tried to suppress knowledge about the warp and chaos...which is a pipe dream now.
With all these new CZcamsrs coming out in the last year or so with Warhammer pages, your level of quality stands head and shoulders above the rest...
Are there more space marine chapters that focus on a specific enemy?
Like a space marine chapter that focus on greenskins or nercons.
Love to see records of the Raptors or Carcadons
I really hope we get an entry for the Blood Ravens soon. How can assist to make this happen?
I love your videos so much. The narration and script are beautiful to hear
Definitely one of the more unique chapters. Great lore video, as always.
just like a good friend; since the last time it feels like it's been forever, and it feels like it's been no time at all.
Marvelous work! Hope there's more to this series soon. The treatment of Sucessor Chapter lore you give makes this the bes video on YT on any chaper that is ever graced by your skill. Hope you do Warbands too!
Excellent as always
Thank you so much for these. GW owes you big, The lore much more than the game keeps me in 40k.
“And without faith it is impossible to please The Emperor, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
Through knowledge and faith we can serve the Emperor, body and soul, despite putting Both on the line for our duty
I was introduced to you on “Juggz” and can happily say that was a great find!!!
Your video concept and approach are absolute genius!!
Actually makes listening to Lore a lot more easier and interesting!!
Thank you for the education on this Chapter, i stumbled across these in the Warhammer plus channel in the Lucius video!!!
Had no clue who are what they are!!
Now i am enlightened thank you!! 😊❤
This was very good. Thanks for sharing.
Great story and great video. I've been into 40k for more than half my life and I didn't know about these guys.
Fellow Astartes, Scribe.
Pure of heart. The Emperor's servants.
Very cool Chapter and interesting lore. Appreciate the phenomenal content.
I always wonder like, space marine chapters are essentially self sufficient societies. What keeps them fighting the imperiums wars when pretty often the imperium mistrusts them like this? I know they have a sense of duty but is that like genetically encoded or are there just space marine chapters that have decided to settle down on a secluded agri world somewhere and just chill out?
Plutonians you say? Were any of them named Emory or Oglethorpe by chance?
Going old school with a chapter video, nice
Love these videos man!
Always loved the Exorcists. Also Genesis chapter.
These guys are so cool. I wish we could get more lore on them
I love this! Honestly thought you were gonna do the Word Bearers or Ultramarines next.
As a lover of all things Inquisition this feels like an early Christmas present.
Oh man, this is perfect. I 2as just talking about these guys' retcon to make the IF genestock instead of GK.
Praise Terra, the Oculus has enumerated yet another chapter of the His Angels!
Nice Video- excellent content!
Please continue this series
Oh ho ho! My favorite chapter? Why yes I would love a video. Thank you please.
Awesome thanks for the video - i'm in the final stages of building my Exorcists army, there is so little content on them!
Would be awesome to have a podcast version of these explorations.
Half of me really wanted them to be secret word bearers successors.
their aesthetics match to an extent the other half is fine with them being imperial fists successors. After all through out the lore the sons of Rogal dorn regardless of chapter have a unique resilience to the warp.
It is said that the warp could never truly touch Rogal dorn as his very presence was able to disrupt it this is backed up in the 41st mellum by the modern imperial fists whose first company was lost in the warp for about a century and returned uncorrupted and continued to fight another example lies in the black templars despite having no libraius and frowning the use of any physic power are able to disrupt chaos by the power of their sheer determination and fanatical devotion to the emperor.
Here comes the Lord Reagent's historator, with another archive full of information that it best be hoped the Inquisition or Clade Secretum never find out that he knows about.
Nice new series
Freaking best one yet!!🤘👍
Oculus .... 1:45 As Inquisitor Verity Calendra would say, quoting ancient adept administorum Sir Humprhey of Old Alibia [..] He who has a secret must keep it secret that he has a secret to keep [..]
"Can we have Grey Knights Mom?"
"We have grey knights at home."
Grey Knights at home:
It should be noted that Dorn was noted to be so resistant to daemons of Chaos/Chaos in general, that Neverborn were said to be in a state of perpetual agony and at such an intensity that was thought not possible for a Chaotic entity to experience. While in the presence of Dorn, so strong was Dorn's will and his lack of belief in the Gods or magic. So the gene expression of the Exorcists makes way more sense. I also would argue that the main benefit of the Exorcists is that they can be used to fight Chaos and Daemons. Without the secrecy and steps necessary when using the Grey Knights. Well until the Great Rift change everything, hell we may soon see Primaris Grey Knights before long. Along with discovering that the Warp Ghosts are in fact a lost group of first born Grey Knights that fell to Chaos if not necessarily the Chaos gods themselves. Due to some horrific accident in the Warp and said GK's being trapped for untold eons in the Immaterium.
Ah my favourite successor chapter!
Love to hear a memorial for Commissar Yarrick
Here’s to hoping he does the grey knights
For thsoe wondering why the inquisition would want another demon hunter space marine chapater: grey knights are mostly independent, despite being a aspect of the inquisition, they can not simply be ordered to do something. Very often, inquisitors request their assistance and give them a brief on what it is they need help with, but ultimately, whether they turn up or not is entirely down to the grey night officer contacted. The exorcists are more at the wimp and request of the inquisitors, similar to how the minotaurs are the high lords lap dogs. This doesn't make them bad or anything its just more practical then having a group of deamon hunter who might not even show up cos its just a "minor deamonic manifestation" (if such a thing fucking exists). Dorn was known to have similar effects as to a null with the warp litterally bending and lessening around him, so his sons having more of a resistance towards the warp and the powers of chaos tjen others makes logical sense, its also a common trope you will see in other chapters of the same origin.
In their original installment, the Exorcists were a successor chapter of the Grey Knights and an Inquisitorial experiment, thus explaining both their special abilites and why their origins and geneseed were top secret.
@Alberto Vela Luis yeah retcons very often either make no sense or make something more boring. In this case, i guess it was done to be more in line with making the grey knights their own unique thing.
@@tomjordan7606 I think the same, which in my opinion is a shitty idea. They just destroyed the charm of the Exorcists.
@@albertovelaluis8512 that was only ever in one Black Library short story, in their *original* instalment (or rather when they got fleshed out more for Armageddon if I remember rightly) they weren’t GK successors - that was one BL author’s afterthought.
Personally I think it’s better if they’re not GK successors as it allows them both to be their own thing without the Exorcists being in their shadow (or being bargain basement GK).
And of course in your personal fluff / head canon you can always decide that they are, especially with how secretive the Exorcists are - they could just be lying about all this stuff, even the Exorcists themselves don’t find out about the supposed Fists descent until they’re in the 1st Company.
Same for the experiment thing, that was in there in the earlier official / non-BL fluff, and I’ve incorporated it into the ‘official’ background of my Exorcists - either they were secretly observing the Chapter they’d formed (and initial recruits were not aware and didn’t go through the possession process) and expected something like the possession of Enoch Trismegistus to happen and stepped in to control it, or it’s just another esoteric obfuscation they tell their Marines until they reach a certain level within the Chapter when they reveal the truth about their origins
@@vaudevillian7 Perhaps, but it was established as their main lore until the recent retcon. Being not GK successors allows them to be anything but their own thing: a generic chapter with an arbitrary name and inconsistent background. Not even an average chapter lore-wise. Even their new primarch is a generic choice.
Well this is neat
Yeaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!
The mention of demon-hosts and inquisitors makes me wonder if you'll do an Eisenhorn video after the last Bequin book comes out
Thank you.
Wait, so they're sons of Dorn?
I was led to believe, that they're the only existing successor chapter of the Grey Knights!
The GK origins was only ever in one Black Library short story, in their earlier instalment (when they got fleshed out more for Armageddon if I remember rightly) they weren’t GK successors - that was one BL author’s afterthought.
Personally I think it’s better if they’re not GK successors as it allows them both to be their own thing without the Exorcists being in their shadow (or being bargain basement GK). It also lessens the importance of the demonic possession (which is their USP) as with GK (the Emperor’s) geneseed it means they’d be really resistant to demons/the Warp in the first place.
And of course in your personal fluff / head canon you can always decide that they are, especially with how secretive the Exorcists are - they could just be lying about all this stuff, even the Exorcists themselves don’t find out about the supposed Fists descent until they’re in the 1st Company.
Same for the Inquisitorial experiment aspect, that was in there in the earlier official / non-BL fluff, and I’ve incorporated it into the background of my Exorcists - either they were secretly observing the Chapter they’d formed (and initial recruits were not aware and didn’t go through the possession process) and expected something like the possession of Enoch Trismegistus to happen and stepped in to control it, or it’s just another esoteric obfuscation they tell their Marines until they reach a certain level within the Chapter when they reveal the truth about their origins
They need to bring the mechanicus in on that whole human prisons for demons thing, I bet you could build some kind of gun that squeezes psychic juice out of those dudes to kill stuff.
Strangely all the inquisitors involved in the debriefing attempt mysteriously vanished and were never seen again.
Truly glad to see your notification, Oculus
Well, I have a new favorite chapter.
Please keep doing successor chapters i wanna know who left or the major successor that are left
Do Ultramarines and Word Bearers.
Since we already have Grey Knights, I think it would be dope if they made these guys like the Death Watch. Take Space Marines from different chapters who can undergo the demon possessions and put them in a single army. I feel like it would take them further from being in the GK's shadow.
Can they force demons out of little girls that spin their heads and puke green sick?
GOOD choice!
Would you do a life video on the Ashen Claws please? I think it would be an interesting video on this renegade chapter and I don't see much out there on them.
i want more of these to be honest, a sort of series of reports on what forces Girlyman has available.
Favorite Dornian successors.
I'm not sure if I'd be celebrating if I saw them coming to my rescue. In fact, I'd rather toil at some Ork labor camp, end up feeding a Hive Fleet, or do standup comedy in Commorragh...
This sounds like a twisted version of what happens in the Dragon Age verse.
YES YES YES HELL YES
