If you want to hear my thoughts about why Nagito gets the "gut feeling" of luck more, I'll try my best to explain what I think here. I think Nagito gets this feeling more than the average person because he goes with the flow of life. Let's take my example of freezing a Pokemon. When a normal person notices they are freezing Pokemon after having the gut feeling that they will, they will expect more and more freezes to occur. But now they are going to expect freezes before their matches even begin. It's almost as if they want a freeze to occur whenever they use an ice move. They want to keep their luck at the same level it's at but in the process these same people will lose their luck and stop freezing Pokemon. Why? It's because they are forcing their luck. Usually they only depend on that "gut feeling" but now they are hoping for a freeze every time. With Nagito, I feel like he doesn't force his luck. He doesn't hope to be lucky. He doesn't pray for luck. It just happens naturally. He is so confident in his luck that it just happens naturally. He just goes along with what life throws at him and that's what makes him different from the average person.

Rantaro is called the Ultimate survivor, because he survived the 52nd killing game, not because of luck

Well he was the ultimate adventurer the reason he became the ultimate survivor was cause he choose to sacrifice himself and do another killing game so he only survived on a technicality he wasn’t one of the two winners who got to leave and return to the real world

If you interpret v3 logically, we don't really know Rantaro's ultimate talent, I mean, the only "proof" we have about everything being fiction are the words of a known liar/copycat (Tsumugi) and things she calls "evidence", instead if you pay attention, there's a lot of circumstantial evidence pointing to everything/everyone being real (excluding absurd lies and/or contradicting arguments like the goffer project), everything happening in the same verse, hell, they were actually kidnapped at the beginning of v3 (the real prologue is enough to know about the contradictions in Tsumugi's words/evidence), Shuichi even closes the Epilogue with his monologue about the (very) likely possibility of Tsumugi lying, and that they can only know the truth when they leave that place.

Makoto's luck is implied to be stronger than Nagito's. It's masquerading as bad luck, but in the end, everything turns out good. If you see Makoto you would think that life itself hates the guy. But looking closely... No, it actually was good luck all along.
His door stuck? It saved him in the trial.
He slipped and fell down on a piece of paper? It saved him from Junko's wrench.
Kirigiri betrayed him?.. Well... Kodaka's waifu was saved I guess? Ehh. I think that the fact that Makoto came back safe united everyone in the group.
He was forced to go through a killing game? Turns out that the outside world is dangerous and every other HP's student ended up dead, so he was lucky to stay in the school.

In my humble opinion, Naegi Makoto's good luck works on a metaphysical level, and it's the most ludicrous of all talents, the guy has the longest chain of luck I have seen in the verse (it starts before the events on DR0, with makoto's worst day ever, and continues after the end of the tragedy arc, I mean, he spared the bad guys and that somehow ends up saving the whole world? Wtf? How the heck is Makoto even alive at the end with such questionable choices lol, I mean, for example, he takes the fall for Kyoko in DR1, survives an absurdly long fall to a trash pit full of sharp objects just after surviving his own but undeserved execution, yeah, super logical, bruhh... nobody else could make that choice and survive, and that's one of his first steps to saving the whole world, a very important step)

nagito has luck scale rigged to go higher (he has amazing luck, after going through something bad, his luck is chaotic, and affects others alot) he'll not avoid danger, but he the scale rises twofold when that danger is dealt with
Celeste has a permanent buff in luck (above average luck, destiny itself bows to her, and she had to get confronted with another person with the luck talent, the ultimate detective, use hifumi to make it harder for her, and kill two people at once for her luck to run out) she won't be saved from certain death, like naegi, but her luck is way higher than the other two's in most scenarios

Makoto's luck comes and gos as Junko puts it which makes it impossible to predict. When Makoto is lucky he is invincible. Junko hardly bats an eye when Nagito had her dead to rights but when she half heartly tries to kill Makoto she tells her sister that he is a threat and recognizes him as the only threat to her plans. Also not sure if saw the secret file on Makoto but Makoto actually lost the drawing the first time to become the Ultimate lucky student and before when they drew the other name it caught on fire in and burned which caused the headmaster to belive that student was not lucky and redrew Makoto's name.

Monokuma was able to know who killed Nagito because the game takes place in a virtual world. As a virus that was capable of manipulating the Neo World Program's code, and since all the people in the virtual world were mere avatars, their life status would likely be indicated through code as well. Inspecting the code, it would likely be clear within that code who killed Nagito by analyzing the script of that particular moment to see which avatar dealt the final blow to Nagito's avatar. That's at least the way I interpret it.

    Makoto's luck often seems like
It affects the people he interacts with
    More so than himself.
Like sure the door and execution are good luck for him,
But all of the cases in the first game have a slip up that one of the characters made in a conversation with Makoto.
(Syaka, Celeste, Hifumi, Mondo, Hina and Kyoko all accidentally reveal information to Makoto that they're trying to hide from everyone and don't want him to know either)
You could also make the case for that Makoto instinctively knew people were innocent,
Which could be considered luck, since he is often just guessing.
Every trial his luck creates a breakthrough in the case,
Which causes him to gain confidence in his luck,
    Eventually culminating in his survival.

Perception can't really change the events themselves, but how you respond to things does matter. I've seen people who have bad luck streaks and they get this attitude where they're just waiting for that next kick in the teeth to come. That negative outlook becomes self sabotaging ("if everything is just gonna go to crap no matter what I do, then why try" type of attitude). Those who try to see the good side and view "bad luck" as opportunity are in a better position to capitalize on it when something good really does happen.
When it comes to that "gut feeling", I suspect part of that is confirmation bias. The times we guess right are more memorable than the times we were wrong.

I think the phrase you’re looking for with the Pokemon analogy is 'a self fulfilling prophecy'. If you believe (expect) something to happen, it will happen.
For example, if you have a work meeting early in the morning but you oversleep, you’re likely to believe that your whole day will be bad. Because you're expecting your day to be bad, it probably will be.

Wasn't Nagito's traitor... actually Izuru if you think about it ? So he wanted Izuru to survive somewhere inside and the traitor of the class to perish...so it was a double luck there.

    • @Someone-or8tp
      @Someone-or8tp Před 3 lety

No, Nagito was definitely aiming to keep only Chiaki alive. He wanted the traitor from the Future Foundation, who he believed to be working with Hope, to survive and everyone else to die.
Though, technically, his overall goal was to eliminate Despair from the Island. And though he didn't do that directly, his luck *did* affect that outcome to some extent and so his luck was an active participant in the ultimate despairs recovering.
So I'd say, even if he wasn't aiming to keep the Despairs alive, the fact he killed Chiaki is what led to Chiaki being able to share some of the truth, resulting in everyone being united under their trust for her in the final trial and thus begin their journey towards Hope. So he did help, in some ways, eradicate Despair from the island, which was his overall goal ^^

    • @Someone-or8tp
      @Someone-or8tp Před 3 lety

@@ralunix4612 I think there's been a bit of a miscommunication here. He wanted Chiaki to live because he figured out that everyone except the traitor were the Ultimate Despairs. The traitor was working with the Future Foundation who were working with hope and against the goals of Junko. He realised this after getting the book of info on the students from the octogon.
His goal was to eradicate Despair from the island. The only way to do that, in his eyes, was to kill the remnants of despair: aka all the students except the traitor- Chiaki. After his death, he very clearly explains that this was his goal. He wanted to kill everyone except the traitor from the Future Foundation so that he could become the Ultimate Hope. Because Makoto became the Ultimate Hope by killing Junko, the Ultimate Despair. He thought he could mirror what Makoto did and kill the remnants of Despair who worked with Junko, thus giving him the same title.
In a way, the failure of his original plan worked in his favour. My point is that his plan failed, but was a vital stepping stone in the return of Hope to the remnants of Despair. Thus, in that way he did help eradicate Despair from the island/programme. But his original plan to kill everyone except Chiaki to eradicate Despair that way failed.
Edit: so my point here is that he wasn't aware that Izuru was the mastermind. Izuru was technically not the traitor, as he worked with Junko and the remnants of Despair. Chiaki was the traitor that Nagito intended to have live. It was double luck, I agree. Just I agree in a different way. His original plan failed but resulted in an even better outcome: the survival and restoration of his friends.
