Cryptographic Agility or Crypto-Agility is the ability to change cryptographic algorithms and parameters rapidly with minimal impact to products and services.
Many organisations are undertaking initiatives to improve their crypto agility, for various reasons: to enable adoption of new cryptographic technologies like TLS v1.3 and cloud cryptography services, to prepare the upcoming migration to post-quantum cryptography, and to mitigate other risks such as a mathematical breakthroughs on existing algorithms or changes to compliance standards.
However, for an organization with a complex IT infrastructure including in-house applications developed in both legacy and new cloud-native architectures, third-party applications and infrastructure, achieving agility can seem a daunting task.
