    • @TXFDA
      @TXFDA Před 10 měsíci +3

      I'm in the process of deciding between which one to get. My initial thought was to go with the RG35XX for that same reason. The Miyoo just looks like my hands are gonna cramp up on it. But after digging, I think I'll have to just deal and hope it's not too bad, because between the two, the Miyoo has more that I like. Wifi being a big thing with RetroAchievements and FTP, but also the ability to adjust the screen's brightness/contrast/color, as well as OnionOS on the Miyoo being more fully-featured and updated compared to GarlicOS on the Anbernic. And in the end, the RG35XX isn't THAT much bigger than the Miyoo. Mainly just an extra teeny bit on the bottom, which honestly, I don't think is gonna make a huge difference to me when it comes to hand cramping. The buttons themselves are still generally in the same spot, which I think would matter more than having an extra half an inch on the bottom.

      This is what might happen to me too. I really wanted to love the Miyoo, but the console was small enough to where I felt my hands cramping up. I ordered the RG35XX to see how much of a difference it'll be.

  • @TXFDA
    @TXFDA Před 10 měsíci +13

    I'm considering ordering a Miyoo. I was looking at both, but the Miyoo having wifi is what's pushing me towards it. I already have a Retroid Pocket 2+, and while I like it, I'm not a huge fan of it running Android. It comes off as feeling like I'm trying to emulate on an old low-end phone with an attached controller. Which I don't really like. It feels more like I'm just running files, as opposed to playing a game console. It's a similar issue I have with trying to emulate on a PC or something. I have less attachments to my saves because of it too.
    My biggest reason for considering the RG35XX is simply due to it being ever-so-slightly taller. I have fairly big hands, and even using the D-Pad on my Retroid, my thumb will cramp up sometimes due to the D-Pad being way down in the bottom left. So, seeing the Miyoo has me slightly concerned that it's gonna be a bit TOO small, and it's not going to be comfortable. But, when I looked into it more, I found more reasons to want the Miyoo more than the RG35XX. The Miyoo has Wifi, it has the better OS (Onion, as opposed to Garlic on the Anbernic), it has settings for adjusting the screen color/brightness/contrast, and...in the long run, Miyoo has more of a community behind it. I dunno if the community's as big as Anbernic's seeing as Anbernic's done more than Miyoo. BUT, the community from what I've seen of the original Miyoo Mini, just seems way more into it. 3D printing/selling cases, shells, grips, stands, whatever else. Plus the updates to OnionOS and whatnot.
    I also have a hard time really getting into the idea of buying an Anbernic. I'm not knocking the quality of the handhelds, but, Anbernic makes a LOT of handhelds. It really feels like they make a new one every month or two. I could buy the newest and best Anbernic handheld right now, and within a couple months there'd be a new one. It feels like they're just making everything they can to get one to stick. And I'm not a fan of that idea. Miyoo on the other hand....doesn't make a ton. And even when they do, sometimes they run out so quick that it's near impossible to get one. I'm not trying to fall into some kind of fake scarcity thing, where I'm rushing to buy one because I don't wanna miss out before they're out of stock again, but at the same time, the fact that they ARE harder to come by, mixed with them not making a ton of different handhelds anyway, and owning a Miyoo seems more 'special' almost. Like, buying one would make me a part of a community that I kinda like the idea of being a part of.

    • @SIQmai
      @SIQmai Před 2 měsíci

      I hear what you say about the difference between Anbernic and Miyoo in terms of releases, but you could argue that Anbernic is at least offering a tons of different designs so you can surely find one you like, and they also offer a lot of variations in terms of power, etc. They even offer model that can run both android and linux if you would want that, as well as models only with linux for a bit less. I personally think they win on hardware compared to Miyoo who has now put 2 models out. They are great, for sure, but I personally would love to see sth else from them with more power.
      The thing with their community though is: there are rumors of handhelds coming out with different form factors and ppl are already complaining that 'the miyoo mini spirit is lost!'. So great community, but then they could be stuck in a one time wonder from the og miyoo mini.
      Where they absolutely win however, is the OS experience. Vastly superior to anbernic's apparently (I don't own a MM+ yet). And apparently anbernic is refusing to let devs work with their source code so they are shooting themselves in the foot if they don't come out with a great one themselves soon.
      Anyway, just my 2 cents ✌🏻

    Bought on Amazon a few days ago both of them. just to compare and keep one. All I can say RG35XX is absolute winner for me. It is a bit lager, so its easier to hold it (my opinion). Also it was preinstalled dual OS stock/ and Garlic OS. Also I liked D-pad more on 35XX. Sound is much better on it. Also HDMI and possibility to connect gamepad -completely made my choice. Yes, and one more thing, mini plus looked a bit more fragile for me, comparing to 35XX. As i understood I get a newer revision of RG35XX, at least manufacturer calls it like that on their official page. it got 2600mh battery and some more improvements, as I understood. Including dual OS, or I may be wrong.

    I think the Dpad makes for a pretty big dealbreaker. Probably the biggest between the 2 systems. They're devices used for retro games that are reliant on the Dpad... many of which benefit from the extra precision. But the stock issues along with screen issues do make the MM+ a bit of a risk. My screen is also slightly raised compared to the rest of the screen in 1 of the bottom corners. I don't think it'll pop out or come close to it, but I do notice it being slightly raised at times.

    I still have the Anbernic RG351P. For me it's better to buy the 351P instead of the Mini Plus because it's a bit cheaper but has better specs. The 351P also has dual joysticks which is really great for ports for fps like Doom, and Quake 1,2,3 platformers like Shovel Knight, Point and click games/ Scummvvv games. It's also more comfortable playing the Diablo port because of the joysticks.
    If you want a cheap alternative and don't really bother with retro achievements or even play multiplayer over WiFi, the 35xx is good enough.

    I got the RG35XX just because I wanted the Miyoo Mini and it was sold out everywhere. Now that the Miyoo Mini Plus is out, I am considering getting it but, since its almost the exact same thing as what I already have, I am once again thinking about getting the original Mini just since it would be easier to take around.

    I took this list from a website, but I think it’s a pretty good top 20 for Sega Genesis:
    20. Toejam & Earl
    19. Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine
    18. Herzog Zwei
    17. Castlevania: Bloodlines
    17. Gunstar Heroes

    10. Shadowrun

    8. Flashback: The Quest for Identity
    7. Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master
    6. Mortal Kombat II
    5. Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium

      @@JoeysRetroHandhelds I agree with most of this list. Some things I'd like to add...
      - Herzog Zwei was awesome. It's like the precursor to games like StarCraft.
      - I liked Revenge of Shinobi more than Shinobi III. (I LOVED the original Shinobi...I've finished that game soo many times.)
      - Strider and Ghouls 'n Ghosts were great Capcom ports
      - You can't really go wrong with any game in the Streets of Rage, Phantasy Star, and Thunder Force series. All great games.

    At around 6:00 you mention that the Miyoo doesn't feel as premium as the RG35xx. I never owned a 35xx until recently. So I never understood how anybody could feel this way. Cause in photos and videos, the Miyoo looks much nicer. But I agree.. in person, the RG35xx is way more premium than you would think. I still give Miyoo the edge. But much closer than I expected. I'm anticipating the RG35xx Plus to win the battle though. Especially if it comes in metal, like we've heard.

    Hey Joey, did your Miyoo screen pop out yet? I have one and while it does not move as much as yours, it definitely does click a little bit and seemed to have some give. I've got about a week more if I want to return it to Amazon and get a second exchange. The first exchange was for a bad d-pad.
    As a Genesis kid, I've got a few recommendations.
    1. Phantasy Star 4
    2. Streets of rage
    3. Sonic the hedgehog 2 and 3.
    4. Alisia dragoon
    5. Michael Jackson's Moonealker (for laughs).
    6. Aladdin
    7. Earthworm Jim
    8. Comix zone
    9. Gunstar Heroes

    MM+ owner here. If you're thinking of which one to get, literally just focus on comparing between your desire for hdmi capability, wifi, battery life, OS, and size difference. Literally everything else after $30 of mods from etsy will even the board, that includes buttons, dpads, and audio. Screen brightness is irrelevant cuz nobody ever plays at full brightness anyways to save on battery. Hope this helps
