I just wanted to let you know that you have basically saved my life. If it wasn’t for me stumbling upon your videos on insulin resistance one day, months ago, I never would have known what to do. My life and health has drastically improved since then. I could always use low carb tips. A quick meal low carb is scrambled eggs with cheese. Sliced avocado on the side with some beef jerky. As a 16 year type 2 diabetic, I am so burned out on the diet. I like these videos as reminders of what I should be eating. Thank you Kait.

You know you can eat some carbs as long as you eat your fats and proteins right. The fats keep your insulin low.
Eggs, cheese, cream, Greek yoghurt butter, avocados, mushrooms, chicken, oiiy fish, unsalted nuts, broccoli, cauliflower, ultra low carb bread etc. I've been trying bullet proof coffee, does take some getting use to.

my favorite low carb meal is an omelet with smoked salmon and cream cheese with capers. Sometimes I add onion or mushrooms or another veggie as well. But I am satisfied from breakfast to lunch with that meal for sure.

Love your cats! ✨ In Western Australia our equivalent of the 'premium' grocery stores more likely to stock a broad variety of local and imported quality goods would be IGAs, for what it's worth! Along with The Good Grocer and a few other places. I'll see if I can check out the Butcher Crowd box in December - awesome to have a CZcamsr recommend a deal I can actually get in Australia haha!

Okay so I grew up in Adelaide from 2001-2007 and Foodland stores did not used to look like that. I’m so shocked. I remember my local foodland being really barren and tacky, and we lived in a decent area. Good on them for updating and coming so far! Also I’ve lived all over Aus and Adelaide is the only place I’ve encountered Foodland. :)

I really enjoy your videos. My shopping list includes most of what you displayed on the video. I have never tried mackerel before, but it is now on my shopping list. I also have an over inquisitive cat. Is cat hair gluten free? :-) My lo-carb diet goals were achieved some time ago, and I have been able to maintain my blood glucose levels and my weight (under 200 lbs). My wife has joined me on the diet, partly because I do most of the cooking and she has also lost some weight. stay safe, BobF

Eggs are always mentioned but I would advise looking into what the hens are being fed. I have a friend who has issues with the store bought eggs.
If you manage to reverse insulin resistance, can you start reintroducing some foods that cause big blood sugar spikes (like a donut once a week or something), or will your insulin resistance just come right back?

I'm binge watching your insulin resistance videos. Please do one on, Insulin Resistance +PCOS+SLEEP APNEA. And, a history of thyroid problems in other family members, so no uncooked broccoli or tapioca because they block T3 receptors

Great video! My problem with keto is potassium intake. I love avocado with lemon juice, salt and pepper, unfortunately, soon after eating my throat gets incredibly scratchy. Turns out, I am allergic to avocado. Any recommendations or videos that you could make to address ways to get the adequate daily electrolytes and minerals through food or supplements would be helpful.
Sea salt or Himalayas pink salt in water . Himalayan pink salt 84 is the best in my opinion. The 84 stands for 84 minerals.
Is the Equate Protein shake sold by Wal Mart (30 grams protein and 2 net carbs) a good supplement to low carb eating? i.e. healthy blood sugar levels?

(I've just done that for a month, and get no pressure from BC. They're SO accommodating and easy to deal with.😁😁👍🏻)
What do you think about plant based butter and non dairy foods like yogurt and milk.
Plant based butter is margarine rebranded and highly inflammatory. I recommend everyone avoid it. Something like coconut yogurt is ok without added sugar. Most plant based milks are mainly vegetable oil so find one that’s just almonds or coconut and water.
Living in Texas most of my purchases include grass feed beef, I raise my own chickens, so know what I am getting there and grass feed pork. A lot of spinach, green salad, olives. Really enjoy the video's.

I have tried to go carnivore several times and just can’t seem to stick it out. Think I’ll just focus on keto and fasting, which seems to suit me better. I work in a busy public hospital here as a nurse. It’s a daily frustration watching how unhealthy our supposed health system can be…

For your babies, walmart has Cat Paw Claw Control Nail Caps Covers Protector. A friend of mine is trying that now. He tried to take them off then he stopped... but so far so good.
Thank you! I have seen those and will have to check them out. For the most part my cats are pretty good and mainly use their scratchers but sometimes they misbehave 😂
Don't use the claw caps. It will prevent them from scratching completely, which is not good because they have to scratch. Put double sided sticky tape on the furniture and put the scratcher right next to it.
Your Foodlands look like our Whole Foods or Goodness Me in Canada. We have Foodlands too but typically in small towns and they're more budget friendly chain stores.
Kait, Is it ok to buy Greek yogurt nonfat or low-fat or regular fat? Costco has a non fat version and a low fat version and I’m never really sure which is best. I have gotten both at different times. Bobby Parrish from FlavCity said the fat is good because of the omega 3’s so get full fat if possible. I was surprised that Greek yogurt was on your list and is considered insulin-resistant friendly because 1) it’s dairy and 2) it has lactose (a form of sugar)? What is your opinion on this? Thanks🙂!!
Full fat Greek yoghurt is 👍 It's relatively low in sugar and carbs unless you eat a lot of it! If you buy low fat, it will be higher in carbs.
I just did my grocery order to start low carb. Because of my personality I am going in slow. Low carb first, keto, and then carnivore. (If the prices of meat stop going up here) I also thought with the amount of insulin I take this might be a good idea. I have on a couple occassion taken my insulin and not eaten enough and my blood sugar dropped to 59-60 and those were horrible experiences. :) Thank you for giving us ideas.
might be good to talk to your doctor about coming off the insulin & trying something else till your A1c drops so you can be med free!
@@Rosebud4u1 Thanks. I have spoken to them. They are a big no on me stopping the insulin. They would rather me test more between meals and slowly reduce my insulin every couple of days.

Been enjoying your Insulin Resistance videos. Thanks to you I have confirmed that I have Insulin Resistance (which makes a lot of sense with this stubborn belly of mine I've had for years 😅).
But I've been wondering, when you say "reverse Insulin Resistance", you mean temporarily stop or reduce it rather than outright "cure" Insulin Resistance, right?
What I mean is that you can improve your insulin sensitivity, so yes, basically "cure" although it is tricky because IR is on a spectrum. When your cells become more sensitive to insulin again then you won't have high circulating levels of insulin anymore (which is actually what causes the side effects and leads to other diseases). At this point people can tolerate carbs better. Of course if you go back to your old way of eating entirely, that made you resistant in the first place, it is going to come back 🙏

So snacking is obviously not good for insulin resistance...but that aside if that is not a problem. Is snacking okay? I've seen previous vids of your meals which aren't very many meals...so how do you include these "snack" items in your daily eating?
If you are metabolically healthy snacking can be ok depending on your goals and depending on the snacks. High sugar and carb snacks are not ideal UNLESS you are an elite athlete then they might have a place. Low carb snacks are best if you are going to include them but I think it is ideal to focus more on getting your nutrient and energy needs met at your meals so you don't have to rely on snacks 🤗
