As two families fight for who will rule, one of the Pandava brothers, Arjuna, can't bring himself to fight. He wants to fight as a prince, but when he looks out on the battlefield, all he sees are fathers and brothers and sons. He doesn't want to kill any of them. It just so happens that his friend and charioteer is Krishna who is here to answer some of the prince's questions. As well as reveal some fundamental truths of the universe to his human companion. Ah mortals, aren't they adorable?

Important side note: While the Gita can be treated as an intro to Advaitha philosophy, the context of the Gita i.e the Mahabharata is very important to understand why Krishna was almost pro-war at this point. Krishna (and the Pandavas plus Draupadi ) were consistently anti-war for much of the epic as they were pushed closer and closer to total annihilation. Without the Mahabharata, the Gita is incomplete. The later volumes post war are a sobering reminder of the cost of war, which people often neglect to understand.
Plus, it’s important to view Hinduism from a pre-Abrahamic lens where Gods are not absolute and flawless and belief in supreme power is not a requirement. It’s a tradition based in philosophy rather than belief.

It's great that you found a story/character that helps you feel more grounded. Perhaps you have stumbled on a means of self-soothing that you can use time and time again. Either way, don't give up friend. If you keep reaching out you will find, on numerous occasions, that you are not alone and that a lot of research has gone into finding solutions for what you are going through. Well that depends on the true nature of them. Here, the pure essence of Krishna is a calm collected attitude. The beauty in observing the universe and just how it works is completely neutral and does not involve any wordly feeling. That's why he is rather calm and composed. But since he is a manifestation who came to preserve the world's righteousness, he also holds great compassion for his friends and fighting for dharma. The version he showed Arjuna (his true form) was proven to be dangerous and frightening to observe because the truest cosmic order of the universe can be the most beautiful thing and the most ruthless occurence at the same time. Because he is time and space, and time can destroy everything. He is birth and he is death.

*The reason why Oppenheimer took Bhagavad Gita quite personally was also because it was a sort of rational consolation to himself. He was born with immense intellect and gift of quantum physics, he was a scientist and he belonged to theoretical physics, it was his true nature in universe and naturally his duty(dharma) to show mankind something so destructive, Even though he quoted Vishnu, I believe he really saw himself as Arjun, who was only fulfilling his duty by carrying out the will of god as if the god had already planned it out for nuclear bombs to be the demise of humankind and Oppenheimer was only one of the starting medium to reach that end-result.*
Also, if we draw the parallels, many manyyy soldiers died in Mahabharat but prior to that Arjun already saw them rushing towards their physical death(as the soul is immortal just like the supreme spirit) , Oppenheimer and other scientists also knew how deadly the bomb is going to be and how many are going to die, yet Oppenheimer did not try his best to stop that and let all those people die, later to be viewed in US as the "cost of victory" just like Pandavas who had to kill millions just to ensure victory of Dharma over Adharma (But they lost their own sons and relatives in it too).

Parvati, longing for a child, creates Ganesha out of clay one day when Shiva is away from their home in the Kailasha Mountain. Ganesha comes out to be the perfect child and Parvati loves him to no end for the brief part of the day they spend together. Later noon, Parvati, who wants to bathe in peace, asks her new son to stand guard in front of their home to stop anybody from entering. This is exactly when Shiva decides to return and not knowing his father, Ganesha doesn't allow him to enter. Shiva, being the god of wrath and annihilation, is aggravated by this child's challenge. In a fit of rage, he beheads Ganesha. Parvati, hearing the commotion, comes out to see her husband just kill her only son and threatens to curse Shiva unless he returns her son to her. Shiva sends for his minions to look for a replacement head at the earliest before sunset to fix Ganesha but forgets to mention to them to find a fitting neck only from a human. And so they return with a baby elephant's head that fits his neck exactly. Shiva, not seeing any other way to find a neck before dusk, just reattaches the elephant head to Ganesha's body and brings the latter back from dead. And that is how Ganesha got an elephant's head.

@@pyrrhusofepirus8491 The version that I read was a long time ago so I dont remember it entirely not sure if its any closer to the accurate versions, although as someone said above, there are many contradictory sources. It goes like this:
Ganesha's mother went to the bathhouse, instructing him to not allow anyone in. Shortly afterwards, other deities started arriving, demanding to meet her, to which he refused. Whether from not knowing Ganesha or just being arrogant, their arguments escalated into a full blown fight. Soon, more Gods joined in against him, using even their superior weapons. Ganesha fought valiantly, but then either was overwhelmed or got taken by an underhanded tactics, and got decapitated. By then his mother came out from her bath, shocked and heartbroken to find his sons fate. Realizing that boy was right and not wanting to get into her bad side, the other deities decided to find the first thing that can replace his head. So they searched, found an elephant, took its head, and brought Ganesha back to life with the elephant head attached to him.
Like I said, not sure if its one of the popular versions, but definitely feels like something that could fit with Extra Myth's narrative.

One thing that makes Hinduism different from any other religion is we believe God is in everything. Because if God created this universe then where did God get all the materials to create this universe? Was there someone else who gave those materials? Then how come there is one god? It gets in a loop. The simple answer is he never created any universe he himself is the universe. And within this supreme universe there are infinte universes born and die. We are just in one of those universes. We can't see that because there is a curtain called "Maya" which means a layer of lie which prevents us from seeing the true form of the universe. This is why Krishna gave Arjuna special eyes to see his true form during Gita.

These guidelines are taught in 9th or 10th grade depending on which board you are studying in. Let me give you some example , Imagine that your grandfather has seen some big event happen in front of his eyes which is not documented and he cannot produce any proof. Then that event will not be considered as history because of lack of proof. That does not mean that even is neccesarily false. SImilarly these epics are not considered as history but for you that should not mean its not true. And proof like the locations mentioned are not even a bit sufficient. Many stories are disaccounted if the proofs are not entirely conclusive and these is some possibility that it can be false despite the proof being true. And defination of mythology is "A body or collection of stories belonging to a people and addressing their origin, history, deities, ancestors, and heroes." and tell me which part of this is not Ramayana and Mahabharat and no where in definition does it say that mythology are not true.
