- Join us on the One Family martial arts podcast for an inspiring interview with Katya, a dedicated martial artist and mindfulness practitioner. Born in Kazakhstan, Katya's passion for yoga, meditation, and breathwork began at the age of 13. She studied Clinical Psychology and won Taichiquan championships before opening her own martial arts school in Saint Petersburg, where she taught Iliqchuan, Qigong, and meditation.
At 30, Katya became a Buddhist nun in Taiwan and later moved to America to study mindfulness under venerable Master Jiru. After a transformative spiritual experience, she now serves the community by volunteering at a hospice and the Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Center, applying her rich knowledge and experience.
