How To Make Three Ingredient Buttermilk Biscuits

  • THREE INGREDIENT BUTTERMILK BISCUITS
    If you'll follow this simple recipe and a few easy tips, you'll have light and fluffy biscuits every time!
    Ingredients
    2 cups self rising flour
    1 stick salted butter, cold
    1 cup buttermilk
    Directions
    Preheat oven to 450F.
    In a large bowl, add flour. Using a cheese grater, shred butter into flour. Stir occasionally to keep butter cold and from clumping together. Reserve 1 tablespoon of butter and set aside.
    Stir flour and butter making sure everything is mixed together with no clumps.
    Create a well in flour mixture and pour the buttermilk into the center of the well. Stir sides of the bowl just until the dough comes together. Turn dough onto a floured surface.
    Using your floured hands, gently bring the dough together and pat into a rectangle. Gently take one end of the dough and fold over the other. Pat into another rectangle and repeat this process five times. Add sprinkling of flour as needed, but try not to use too much because that will create a tough biscuit.
    Pat dough to 3/4 inch thick. Cut biscuits into desired shape. Do not twist dough cutter. Place biscuits close together into skillet or cake pan.
    Bake for 12-15 minutes until light golden brown. Top with remaining butter.

    I’m a 45 year old southern girl born in Bama. My mom never had the patience to teach me how to cook - so I’ve had to learn on my own from observation, etc (first time I made fried pork chops I knew I needed something to make the flour stick, but had zero clue what u were supposed to use and I got butter and legit spread it all on my pork chops …. Later I discovered egg or buttermilk works lol).
    Anyway, I have now learned a couple things I never knew from watching you. One, that I should cook my ham flat side down so the fat can flow down. Second, that biscuit ingredients should be cold.
    I probably be using your ham recipe but in a crockpot …. Trying a scalloped potato recipe for Easter this year! I’ve always used the same ingredients for my biscuits - but I def will use your method from now on! I also prefer tea biscuits tk normal sized biscuits! ❤

    I forgot to mention that I cube my butter and add it to my self-rising flour and combine it in the food processor with a few pulses. It really saves time.

      Yay! I just know you can do it. It’s ok if they’re not perfect right off. Just keep it up. It took me some time to master it. Not sure why. I think I was over thinking it. When it clicks in the brain it will stay with you for life❤️
