That was Floor and her sister Irene. This was the ending to the show and that is why they brought everyone out to end the show. Arjen Anthony Lucassen writes some amazing type rock opera musicals. Ayreon is a rabbit hole as large and wonderous as Nightwish. The Day The World Breaks Down will give you an idea of the talent involved with Arjen's "little project." I haven't heard a single klinker yet - it's ALL genius! Enjoy the journey! BTW: Arjen is the 6'8' guy singing at the end next to Floor! Ginger, if you learn just half of those people, you will have expanded your music appreciation by tenfold. They are the very elite of European progressive and metal music!

That was the closing song of the show, maybe not the best introduction to Ayreon. Maybe go for Everybody Dies from this show next.
technically this isn't Ayreon but Star One which is another of Arjen's projects. This song is like the end of the show hence all the performers gathering onto the stage! The whole concert is brilliant.
Both Floor and her sister Irene (who was the other initial female singer), Damien Wilson (first guy singer) and the 2nd male singer sung in the original live version of Star One concert back in 2001 maybe? so this was a bit of a reunion for the Star One peeps in amongst the Ayreon show :D
I can't get enough of the Jansen sisters singing together. Irene was a guest of Floor on her solo tour last year before Covid shut everything down. I first heard this song, along with many others, on Arjen Lucassen's "Star One" (another one of his projects) live show.
Need to watch the original performance of this song with both Floor and her sister Irene on Star One Live on Earth back in 2002.

Always goosebumps when hearing this. One of the best concerts I‘ve ever attended. The Ayreon Universe show is a real treasure chest. Feel free to dive in. Basically, pick any song😉

Floor and Irene have a few duets they've done, and Irene helped Floor translate a song from Dutch to English (About Love, I Don't Know A Thing, originally by Ruben Annink) but has somewhat stepped away from the stage, though she still has worked with Arjen and did this show.
The keyboardist in this is an old friend and bandmate of Floor's first band, and he organized this concert. As someone pointed out, the really tall guy singing next to Floor is Arjen who is the brain behind Ayreon. He, I think, calls himself a social hermit or some such.
The keyboardist is Joost van den Broek and he and Floor are currently working on Floor's first solo cd.

I popped off to give a few songs a listen, and Yep, the two ladies make the same lovely harmonies. Johanna Iivanainen and Johanna Kurkela sound heavenly together.

I really don’tunderstand why people suggest The Eye Of Ra as the first Ayreon song to react to. It makes no sense because it is the closer of the evening, with the grande finale. It is like starting at the end. Most reactors have no clue what they are watching when they watch this for the first time and see all the people come up on stage.
From logical perspective it makes much more sense to start the journey with the official video of The Day That The World Breaks Down, because as an introduction, it provides a lot of insight in who Arjen is, how he works, and what Ayreon is all about. And it’s a great song as well. From there I would suggest to continue the journey with live versions from both live shows, such as Everybody Dies, or Castle Hall from the 2017 Ayreon Universe show, or Amazing Flight from the 2019 show. And save The Eye Of Ra for a later moment when it’s more appropriate. The fun thing about this one is the duet of the Jansen sisters, but I even doubt whether the reactors recognized that.
All true, but pedantic. It does not detract from the pure quality if the song/ensemble. This is art. If you start at the endpoint, or proceed from the ostensible beginning, it is still art and nothing diminishes its majesty.
Arjen Lucassen is the mastermind behind Ayreon. He writes rock opera’s and then invites musicians he admires from all over the world to join his project.
Please do ‘the day that the world breaks down ‘ from Ayreon, you wil be in for a treat and will understand the concept.

"Universe" was a kind of Best of Ayreon Live. And for once Arjen himself was on stage, and singing. He have stage fright and hates to practice.

I would recommend river of time or better yet age of shadows which feature hansi from blind guardian and Marko and Floor from Nightwish.

The whole Ayreon Universe show is worth watching, then go explore all the other stuff from Arjen's musical library, which includes some live performances. This song is from Star One, another of Arjen's projects, with songs based on science fiction movies and shows, "The Eye Of Ra" representing Stargate.

I hope "The Day that the World Breaks Down" is on your list. Arjen is very charismatic (in spite of his stage fright) and a musical genius, and Aryeon is a fun project for everybody involved.
Arjen (Ayreon) thought he could never do his work live with so many artists. I'm so glad he found a way.
The really tall guy in the middle standing next to Floor at the end of the song, that's Arjen Lucassen, the composer and brains behind the whole Ayreon phenomenon,
he just released a brand new Ayreon project 'Transitus', a story with a Horror theme this time (most of the Ayreon projects are sci-fi themed) it features Simone Simons from EPICA quite a lot, she plays the angel of death!

Ayreon are so awesome, they have so much lore and background to all their projects. And what an ensemble at the end there! I recommend you check out Scardust, their singer, Noa, was actually featured in the last Ayreon album! And they released a new song 'Stranger' just a few days ago :)

Arjen Anthony Lucassen is a progressive rock/metal genius who has been able to work with the most amazing musicians & vocalists in his main project Ayreon, but also in many of his side projects. Damian Wilson, who was the 1st singer is also know for his vocals in the British progressive metal band Threshold. The first album I bought from Arjen. Originally he called the project Star One and this track is from the debut album Space Metal. This is Arjens musical interpretation of the move Stargate. Other. Sci fi movies were also covered. The first singer, Damian Wilson, Irene and Floor Jansen sang on the original track
:-) FWIW, Ayreon came first, Star One was a side project. Joost convinced him to try it live, so Star One was his first real experience trying to get something like this show together. That entire show is on YT (not legally). Floor and Irene are the backup singers on that.

Aryeon Universe is amazing. If you want a fun song from there, try Intergalactic Space Crusaders. I also love Into the Black Hole. But they are all good.

The first ladies look kind of alike, don't they? I know, I know. Working from Floor to her right is her sister Irene (and notice she is taller than Floor) and to her left is Arjen (Ar-yun), he is Ayreon and the one who asks everyone to participate and everyone drops what they are doing and shows up. For further SF related rock music, you could check out Magma, founded by the outstanding drummer, Christian Vander, who set his music in a science fiction universe and even wrote his own language called Kobaian. He has always surrounded himself with excellent musicians, particularly bassists snd singers. They were founded in 1969. I love this performance from 2006 with my favourite of the early bass players, Jannick Top, and long-term vocalist, Klaus Blasquiz. I saw these guys live in the early seventies and they blew me away. I can't believe you haven't done the most popular song by Ayreon yet I only see 2 on your list this and Valley of the Queens. also Simone Simons has a reunion with Tommy Karevik (Kamelot) [ she performed with Kamelot before] On a song from the most recent Ayreon album not counting side projects Transitus is the Ayreon album and the song they do is called Daniel Descends into Transitus Medley. Ayreon was much underrated for the longest time. Arjen's finally getting a little bit of that deserved appreciation. I absolutely love the guy for his musical genius as well as his humbleness.
