Just saw the news about Donald mustard, it’s really sad that we probably will not ever get another decent live event ever again since the ones that he worked on were memorable. While Fortnite is still an amazing game and fun, it just doesn’t have the charm that chapter one and two had. Some of that is nostalgia, but a lot of it is true. We don’t get simple LTMs anymore, such as marvel ones or 50v50 or even tag. We don’t get a memorable storyline, depth to the characters, or even unique graphics anymore. I will continue to play and enjoy Fortnite, but it devastated me to learn that Donald mustard was never able to complete the storyline, and that it was replaced with the chrome live event, the pre rendered cinematic that is a disgrace to the entire community. Donald mustard will forever be known as the man that made Fortnite unique and memorable, and shaped an experience that we will all remember for the rest of our lives

Even Underground is the worst season I ever experienced, just a COD ripoff, speciality of ch4 weapons and fun got killed and rid of, auguments gone, No fun stuff in attachments, not even anything exciting and the worst bp ever which is worshipped by midas lickers and ch2 s2 riders, RTL simps and OG Riders and etc. (the fanart, storyline, fanfics and rants suck ass imo in fortnite wikia and r/fortnitebr that it feels like amino and temu)

I know, Charlie Wen killed the story.
They deemed the metaverse stuff more important, and red vs blue still has more players than Fortnite festival and rocket racing. And sometimes even more than lego Fortnite. When people download Fortnite, they want to play Fortnite. Not any of the new games that epic made.
I can’t talk for the other modes but Festival has a pretty solid community. The reason it never has more players at once though is because there’s a ton of games in that genre and we like to rotate between them.
In my opinion epic should just focus on br and let the players build the fortverse. (I hate metaverse it should be changed to fortverse)
The second I saw the event for chapter OG I instantly knew that the game was gonna just become a money making platform instead of a money making battle royale...
A short summary, the story line won’t continue as it originally was because of epic’s greed for money

Listen, he landed on his feet, he's working with the Russo Brothers in their AGBO production company, which means he still has a lot of creative influence (Hopefully the company dosen't die off because the Russo Brothers have only produced flops since they left marvel).
We know he's successful, but the point we're trying to make is that him leaving kinda took away from a lot of fortnite. And knowing why just makes it worse because it's literally all because epic turned into a money hungry hog. They're milking their "big break" for all they can before it dies and they leave it as a husk of it's former self.

Yes they do events the best, but the storyline is very basic as compared to other IP in gaming itself. It has definitely declined after he left, but we are over glamorizing what it was even back then.

If charlie can keep up and keep making stuff like the pandoras box event, I trust he can deliver what we want. However the story pacing feels a bit slow. As far as I can tell NOTHING has changed this season. If the river Styx is supposed to expand this season then they should have done that a couple weeks ago maybe earlier. Other than that I trust Charlie to carry the game

I think Epic made a huge mistake taking the game in the direction they went. Look how many people are playing BR, then look at creative/other modes (who are mostly AFK or XP farming)

The black hole event is the only reason I started playing Fortnite and haven't stopped since. It drew so much intrigue and interest in the game. Donald Mustard was a creative genius and I'm not saying Fortnite will die without him, but we have lost more of Fortnite's vibe and soul each day since he has been gone. I still love the game and the different experiences but you can definitely feel the corporate business and greed influenced in every fiber of the game now. I don't think anyone used to feel that when Donald Mustard was there.

The biggest problem with gaming industries these days is that other gaming companies want to be like eachother. Its sad too see Fortnite loosing its point and meaning of the game like live events and what makes it special I hate that there taking ideas from other games and trying to be like roblox which that will never happen because the community for roblox is super huge and they wouldn't be able to top that. There missing what really makes the heart of Fortnite and if only they followed the heart and the meaning of Fortnite success will come for them. Fortnite was so fun back in the day and its devastating too see what it has become now I wish they would listen to the community and realise that there's a bigger picture and that they need to focus what the community wants and not focusing on other gaming industries.
I'm really looking forward of the star war event, when it comes out. :)

I feel like if this new 1 chapter per year thing is going to work we need five seasons with 2 events, if Epic can just accomplish that including everything else they’re working on we wouldn’t really have any reason to complain, but it seems Epic is set on making some dicey, poor choices, and while yeah it is aggravating and disappointing for the community it’s actually just sad to see, I think I can speak for a majority of the community when I say I’m not mad I’m just hurt, hopefully next year things settle in and start to get back on track

I’ve been saying all along that he didn’t “retire” by his own choice. He’s probably got a non-compete in place (before non-competes became insolvent this week per the FTC), and once it expires he will join another developer or start his own company. He will get behind a similar game to Fortnite and put pressure on them to step up their game. Concurrent player counts are down for a reason. All the money spent on these new game modes, but concurrent player counts are WORSE than before they were added.
As soon as you said his last season was chapter 3 season 3 vibin.. I was like “ohhh yup makes sense”.. that was the last really good season. What complete idiots for losing this guy.

Who would have gyessend that the last good live event (Chapter 3 season 2) was the last event donald worked on. Festival, lego and rocket racing have ruined fortnite. The game will never feel the same again.
I knew something was up when he quit and then all those employees that got laid off confirmed it even more. Fortnite was his dream job so to leave the job of your dreams only means he wasn’t in agreement with the future direction of Fortnite. I even knew someone who wanted to work for Epic games but they applied some where else because they got the heads up about Epic’s work environment was “getting toxic.”
The metaverse is not a bad thing but sacrificing the heart of the reason we all played is not worth it. Battle royal is where the numbers are and demands the love. The love brought us in the greed will push us away.

The Vibin season was the last season I played the whole time
Fortnite lost it's soul when live events became rare. That's how the story was told, that and missions. It made you feel like a part of the game. Now it's just the cinematic trailers at the beginning of the season. Like Pandora's box opening should've had an event, I had no idea who summoned it until I got some dialog out of a character who said it was Valeria.
I personally feel that this chapter hasn't had much of a soul. The Greek mythology stuff feels so bland, and the underground season felt like a trying to get struck with lighting twice in the same way idea. I don't hate this new stuff, it just feels too corporate now.

I still play fall guys when I’m really bored. It’s still fun but all the maps are basically the same as when the game came out
A easy fix would be for Donald to come back (if he wanted) and have the OG team for BR work on BR only and have certain teams for certain Game modes, one for BR one for Lego one for Rocket racing and one for Festival that way we could have the true BR Story focused fortnite back and have Lego racing and festival be side game modes like they're meant to be, don't get me wrong i like the game as a whole still but i have to admit the BR side is falling off for me as the story is literally all over that place or just not there at all.
i'm still waiting for A.M.Y to come back with The Seven after leaving in Chapter 4 season 1 (May never happen now) i'm still waiting for and update on the last reality after the end of chapter 2 (May never happen now) all the key parts of the story seem unfinished and or forgotten and without Donald we may never get a proper ending to any of it

He was basically George Lucas but of fortnite once he left fortnite became crap ever since epic got rid of story lines they put out generic skins and they screwed up the locker. Most stories don't seem to have any ending it seems. Too bad he moved on.
