Geerzy has put himself in the center of controversy with Sypherpk and the rest of the Fortnite community for his unjust gatekeeping of his Fortnite Map The Pit. UEFN map creator Leoxy had his map taken down after Geerzy reported it to Epic Games. Is Geerzy justified in his actions or is the Fortnite community right to be outraged?

Fortnite creative right now just feels like a worse version of Roblox There’s some needles in the haystack in there but mostly hay
The thing that sucks is that all these maps are the almost the same map just reskinned

To put it simply, the players and creators who want to play and create player driven games are all on Roblox, despite the potential the UEFN has. UEFN is the much better platform, but I have to admit the community is not nearly as productive.

As far as I know is not the only one, Sypher and other creators received private discouraging messages when creating their own pits, last week he managed to suspended a twitter account of a creator that exposed that he made to take down his pit map too.
Probably because this pit map was actually popular and could thus harm his income

There's no point in banning Geerzy.
He's just a symptom of entitlement, a lot of people who make things popular think they own it, these people don't know how copyright works. People tried to copyright/trade mark the word react.
As long as these maps are transformative Geerzy doesn't know what he's talking about about

The worst part about the pit is that it isnt even a good map, its just item spawners, vending machines and a huge box which is the laziest way to implement a pit like mode ive seen. The thing that made the minecraft pit so good is that you aren't just divebombing the centre for elims, you can optionally jump out to the side and fight in the unique terrain surrounding the centre which can make for much better fights and increased survivability.
Geerzy seems like the type of person to make a spin off of the Hunger Games then call it “The Hunting Games” then when people like it and make similar (or better) concepts he hates it😭 How immature instead of letting others have a piece of the VERY LARGE PIE he wants it all for himself despite already being full
Honestly Geerzy had the first Fortnite pit, but you can’t copyright that… it is literally a bunch of weapons with an opening to a timed free for all build battle. Poor guy thinks his future/retirement will be the Pit. He is lucky Fortnite is still popular.

@@munster7349That's not how copyright works. When you make something, you own the copyright. All the copyright office does is recognize your claim and record it. You can't take someones diary and then sell it, calling it your work just because you sold it first. Doing that or doing something like claiming the pit as your own idea is fraud. Hypixel can make their claim at anytime and because they did it first, they can DMCA Geerzy. Except it's a gamemode. If Geerzy gets to strike other creators for making their own take on someone else's idea, PUBG is well within its rights to sue Fortnite for theft. The pit has become a genre. I can make it in Halo, Roblox, or even COD if I could get my hands on their dev tools. You can't copyright a genre. If you could Mary Shelly's estate could sue FNaF for stealing her copyright over horror. Do you research things, or do you automatically assume yourself correct like a twitter user?

I remember about a month or so ago I played on a map with a friend from Japan called “The Arcade”. It was basically the pit zero build but with an 80s arcade aesthetic. I encourage everyone to play that as their pit substitute.

Fortnite Creative is nothing but pure garbage, right now. There's nothing, but copy and paste maps. And even with good maps that have Creativity and hard work put into them, they ether died off quickly or Barely get recommended by epic games.
Fortnite Creative is roblox, but 10x times worst.

The only good creative maps that actually get players are the party Royale ones, and there’s only so much of those you can do.
It’s like only up. You can’t make a map yours. Look at all the maps made based of only up. And that isn’t a problem. Geerzey is just money farming. Honestly he created a good map but then decided to cook up some unnecessary drama in which the only person sticking up for him is his Mom.
It’s horrible but not unexpected that a larger creator is gatekeeping like this. It’s making me wonder if something similar happened to my absolute favorite creative map I’ve found, Balkan Zonewars. It just disappeared one day with no explanation

His map isn't even a map. It's a hole with weapons on the top and nothing on the bottom. The gameplay in his island is just standard Fortnite gameplay and he offers nothing unique.

As a map maker, seeing someone abuse the system this much without seeing any consequences from Epic themselves, it just feels really demotivating.

The warning signs were there. Geerzy was begging for sac codes and begging for money before epic removed the device.
Ok so yes geerzy is mostly in the wrong for not letting people use the word pit or the pit but the thing is is that the other pit games have very similar thumbnails to the actual pit so he’s more wrong but leoxy isn’t all innocent either his thumbnail is very similar to the pit
I hate creators like this. The word Pit can’t be copyrighted or trademarked what’s next someone makes a map with the word the and magically that word is owned by Geerzy. It’s greedy, and it’s just a bad reputation many creators need to learn this.
6:46 there is already a better version of the pit out called Toy Box it’s created by Postboxpat and it shows that other people can have similar ideas to other people so taking down maps for the use of pit is just stupid and it wouldn’t surprise me if eventually when people start making maps like The Hole or something Geerzy attempts to take those down as well
Someone could make a horror story map called ‘The Pit of Horrors’ unrelated to Geerzy’s The Pit but yet Geerzy would still falsely put a DMCA strike on that individual creator.
But yes you’re correct that you cannot copyright the words ‘Pit’ and ‘The Pit’ when it’s too generic.

How Epic handles this, or lack of handling this, could be what makes or breaks Fortnite Creative. If they do something where they ban Geerzy, then it sets a good precedent of not allowing big creators to do whatever. If they don't do anything, it sets a bad precedent of big creators can do whatever they please.

I haven't played much on the pit since it's so boring, but whatever amount of time I've played it, i wish i could take it back. Don't want that stinky ahh guy have even a single $ of earnings from me(or anyone😤). Anyways, saw this issue break live yesterday on twt and i must say huuuge W sypher for calling that guy out, also everyone who stands n fight against this utter nonsense. Hopefully, leoxy gets back his map and earnings :(

It’s really unfortunate that it’s near impossible to find high quality maps simply because lower quality maps get played more. I took a break from Fortnite after that weird thumbnail trend with the fat AI generated characters. That was my wake up call 😂

I’m realizing now that Geerzy is probably the reason I can’t play The Power Pit in creative mode anymore. That map was way better. It was clean, organized, had interesting but not op power ups, and most importantly wasn’t an ugly blue and orange checkerboard. Geerzy is the worst. He has the lowest quality, lowest effort, ugliest pit game and gets other better games taken down. Rip power pit, hope I can play that again someday.

i feel like creative has trully became epics biggest problem. sure it allows infinite creativity, but its only good if the right mind is put into it. like i believe there can be some really cool maps that can be put into good use, but people will always find a way to get a quick buck

I actually build my own free for all map called ffa busters (I stole the name from one of my friends and his maps) he wasn't the best mapmaker but had a great idea so I expanded on it and made ffa busters deluxe, ultimate, and totally normal which uses glass and is the one I update the most and the pit came out after I made my newest version of ffa busters but I was never able to publish my map, between me and my friends though we all like my map more than the pit and mine is actually more updated than the pit is currently it does have less features and the map is more bland looking but the gameplay is way more fun and engaging and it's amazing at just using pure combat skill without random game mode changes or waiting for vending machines
Honestly, it's people like this that stifles creativity in the community. If anything this demotivates people.
