His eight-ball trick shots make a lot of sense now, given his proficiency in Carom etc.

He's very good to 8 ball before he play carom because in 1970's no one wants to fight him because he's too good and efren reyes job is pool that's why he switch to carom and come back again to win world champion

Whether it’s 8 ball,9 ball or 3 cushion billiards, this dude is just something else with his angles and cue ball control. Along with snooker’s Ronnie O’Sullivan, easily one of the best players who had amazing control on the cue ball. Definitely one of the most naturally talented players ever

Ronnie O’Sullivan played this game and didn’t know much about it, even though he’s got some kind of Italian blood in him, and loved it. It was during a documentary he shot in USA, I believe.
I had this table from when I was born at home, my father was national and European champion, and it’s so funny, because at my Snooker Club, all the best players there, and some pros approach me, saying that I’ve got very good cue action, some of them said “to die for “as well, which is funny because most English people regard this game as being not as technical a snooker, which is complete nonsense, I believe, anyhow, I love both Snooker and traditional billiard

Not sure there has ever been a player like Reyes has ever existed before or will ever exist again.. he retired now saying he doesn’t feel like he’s as good.. like he lost it.. his feeling of losing it is any other players top game. Simply a fantastic geometric mind who developed the touch! His favorite thing is watching amateurs make unbelievable shots slop wise.. he would reset the table at home and practice that unbelievable slop shot until it was perfect.

My father told me that before American Pool took off in the Philippines during the late 60s onwards, French Billiards (known back home as 'Carambola') was the more popular 'cue-table' game. He believes that if Effren grew up in pool halls, he would've been playing a lot of carom with the older guys before American Pool. He thinks that this is what gave 'Maestro de taco' Effren the table vision other pool players didn't/couldn't see.

Ronnie gave him a 25 point handicap on Efren's request and then he got outplayed.

@@markjoshuadollete8252 Typical for any snooker player to do 3-4 + cushion escapes and hit the object ball deadweight. Carom is a fun hobby/game, but very one sided. Nothing compared to managing the traffic on a snooker table, mapping 5-6 shots ahead, predicting opponent's approach, accuracy without pocket cheating, fatigue and back/knee pains in 5+ hour matches, and actually playing for high stakes in $300.000+ tournaments while millions are watching
