Thanks Dan! I have been trying out the heated brush again, vs using a blow dryer. I've been using mostly the heated brush, because the bathroom is attached to the kids room, and the blow dryer wakes them up early. I appreciate this video, and the video where you go over using both tools.
I wear my mustache pretty much like you describe. The handlebar and full walrus definitely don’t work for me, and I too can’t stand the feel of wax, or even balm in my mustache. The heated brush does seem like it would work, but I prefer a blow dryer to style my beard, and don’t feel like using them both. I just blow dry from the middle of the mustache, towards the side and use a boar bristle brush for a little tension and just kind of brush it down and to the side, blending it into the beard. Quick and easy, good enough for me, without the matted feel of the wax or balm. 👍
You just resolved my mustache frustration. I never thought of using a heated brush just on my mustache based on how I did not like the way the heated brush made the rest of my beard look. I have been using the heated brush just on my mustache for the past week and I no longer need to use a wax and it is styling the way I like it. It's these little things that change the experience on the beard journey that take frustration to enjoyment. Appreciate everything you do and the education & positivity you bring.
My beard is the natural rainbow of beard colors, front is black, lower sides is brown, top sides is red, and mustache is blond. On a good day, I do a loose low handle bar, so it kind of displays over/into the beard. I think it highlights the different colors I have.
I guess that i do the lazy walrus as well! I do throw a little wax in to hold it higher off the lip when I am going out to eat and maybe drink wine or something.
Dan remember when i sent my updated pictures? You suggested to start training it to the sides, well my stache doesn't really grow all the way down to my lip and thats why i like to leave it down ! It gives me the fuller illusion look .
Came here after the man himself suggested it in a reply to one of my questions and I gotta say exactly what I needed and the Lazy Walrus sounds exactly like what I'm looking for in terms of style. Thank you again Dan.
I tried out the heated brush on my stache for the first time after watching this video today, and I must say, it works better on my walrus than the blow drier 👍
One of your videos where I just watched, shook my head in agreement from beginning to end and said "At least I am doing something right"... I know Patience, Patience, Patience...
My girl likes my lips, not hair, but she absolutely loves the fact that I'm growing out my beard. I'm only 43, but because I smoke, and stress (don't ask), my beard is almost all gray. Started my beard journey a out Nov. of 2020, so about 7 months.
Lazy Walrus. I like that! I heard Eric Bandholz said he designed the comb with a small area for mustaches and the rest wider for beards. I didn't know the mustache area was finer than usual. Thanks for the info! I'm on your page with my mustache. Tried for a Walrus with same qualms as you,. Had a lot of transparencies and waves.
I have a similar mustache , i guess it could be handlebarred up with wax if I wanted, it is separated from the beard but I just comb it down over the lip and push the “bars” over to the sides with my fingers in the corners of my mouth. And that’s it
I didn't know it until now, but I do a lazy walrus too - minus any lip trimming. Mind you, I'm only 4-5 months in on the full beard so that (the trimming) may change. Every morning I blow dry each side of the moustache up and out (working from the middle) with my comb, and that's it. I've had a moustache for years and years (probably close to 25 years) but up until now it was just with a goatee - I have learned over that time that as long as my wife can see some of my top lip I can get away with not trimming it - so this style is great because you can still see the central part of the top lip.
Aberlite pro is a game changer. Got it on preorder from the Kickstarter and LOVE it. I have a short beard a bit over 2 inches and it’s great through the whole beard and even for my head hair.
The Lazy Walrus Stache is my style too. As of a few months ago one side started settling differently than the other and below the lower lip a S pattern. The heated brush is preferred method. A slow run through and immediately use a teaser brush works for me. Followed by butter or balm depending on the day.
Was trimming my mustache every other day. To keep it nice and neat. But now I'm just letting it grow. I'm almost at my 6 month beard growth and my stache to me was looking to small compared to my beard. Now I think it's all working together. Nice to the point video Dan C.
Timely video for me as anything I’ve tried so far with the stache I haven’t been pleased with. When I’ve used wax I just didn’t like the feel of it. I may recently have drifted into something similar to the lazy walrus but you’ve actually given me a little more direction than I’ve had with it. Appreciate you Dan.
I have the same routine with my mustache and rock "The lazy Walrus" style. Havent trimmed it since no shave november and its getting pretty epic. I do use savvy jack mustache wax to help keep it out of my mouth.
@@DanCBearded the heated brush tip is a game changer. finally able to style the stache while growing it out. game changing and stache saving tip - thanks again!
I use to try and style a handlebar but with the advent of masks in public, the masks push the stache into a walrus. So after a couple of months, I gave up. I haven't trimmed my stache (except for a couple of over achievers, once.) in two years and currently am between a walrus and a "lazy walrus". Lazy at the beginning of the day, to walrus at the end. Perhaps it's a hold over but I use a medium hold wax, blow dyer and stache comb to style.

Hey Dan. I am trying a Chevron mustache only. No beard. Where do you recommend to cut around to shape the mustache properly? I have been growing it for a month only. Thank you Sir!!
Truly is just personal preference. I would say grow beyond your goal and then trim back to it
@@DanCBearded Thank you Sir!
👍🏻

What's the name of that heat wand?
I do not remember which one I used in this video, but I believe it is the aberlite pro
@@DanCBearded Got it.
Just ordered it.
Not a fan of heated brush, makes for a overly manicured look
On the mustache?
#ISITWEDNESDAYYET?
ALMOST!!
Great info. The over the mouth mustache should now be called the "mask mustache"😷

Lazy walrus 😂 my mustache is ok but not as full.
Don't talk down to your stache like that!
Now if I could just keep my mustache from getting in my mouth when I'm trying to sleep. It's so irritating some nights.
I don't think I notice that problem. Very interesting!
my mustache is a mess
I have never thought that!
I just wish it was thicker and fuller next to my beard it falls short imo
Your Mustache looks great Dan
