    The trick to riding rigid is compliance, everywhere. More compliant wheels, flexier bars, ESI Extra Chunky grips, 29+ tires with low pressure. Also sniping lines helps too.

    with bleeding the maguras mate best practice is to use the supplied bleed blocks and push and pull from the calliper syringe until all air bubbles are removed, then close off the system from both ends. its important you don't try to overfill the brake system as you can burst the internal reservoir in the master. align the caliper to the rotor then insert the pads, first few pulls will come to the bar and then come out as the pads make contact. make sure you bed the pads in properly, 20/30 stops from 20mph roughly

    I've ridden my old Redline Monocog 29er for about 8,000 miles. A rigid frame is fantastic for cornering. Suspension is too inconsistent. With a rigid frame bike there are fewer variables. You're going to know what it's going to do in most situations and over time your muscles will store that information.
    Further, maintenance is a bummer. Fewer parts, less maintenance and more riding.

    It’s a adventure / all surface bike . I ran rigid with tubeless but would run my pressures so low then tires would burp. Those tree roots on the trail will have you hold on when your front hits them.

      @JeffKendallWeed  Před 6 měsíci

      Oh yeah with the 36mm rims, 2.6 tires, and Cush core, I can run crazy low 15-18 psi and they don’t blow off. Any lower and the rebound would be terrible.

    • @psclassy1123
      @psclassy1123 Před 6 měsíci

      Yes your probably right mine was a low dough set up sx25 WTB rims and 2.3 High Rollers. I cant ride anywhere close to your level but I put a suspension fork back on. By the way those cheap rims will bottom and still stay true back in the day you would walk out. Great content by the way / out of all the bloggers on youtube you are the gospel in my opinion.

      Thanks PS! These wide rims and such are all total cheater parts, so don’t feel lame or anything for going back to squish! Run what’s fun, what works for you, and what you’ve got available to ya!

    Not much different than my first two mt bikes from the 80s except the carbon, the 1x, the 29/27 wheels, the wider tires, the dropper, and the disc brakes... lol. I served my time on those bikes, no desire to go back. :P

      @JeffKendallWeed  Před 6 měsíci

      Yeah when I started in the mid 1990s it was at least a little better, but still… I’ll proudly call the Stooge a cheater bike! It’s so cushy!

    Rigid bikes are amazeballs. More people need to ride rigid. It's not painful or scary and we all can and should totally do it! I got so much better after riding rigid. Rigid for life! 💯

    Wild. So their website says the model is actually the Speedbomb and nothing about being enduro... so how did you decide to test it as one?

    • @JeffKendallWeed
      @JeffKendallWeed  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Nope, this is the Dirt Bomb. It's been discontinued. 65 degree head angle and massive wheelbase make it an enduro bike. www.pinkbike.com/news/bike-check-matt-lakins-fully-rigid-stooge-cycles-dirtbomb-enduro-race-bike.html

    Riding a rigid definitely has a learning curve. You quickly learn how to ride light or pay the price. Riding a rigid with clipless pedals helps with this.
    You may not get down the trail as fast a fully but you can ride just about anything on one.
    Stooge Cycles has some interesting bikes in their line up. I'd like to get my hands on an MK6 frame and fork for a sweet custom build.

      @JeffKendallWeed looked like a blast. I've rode some rigid ss but it was older geo and xc width tires. It is nice knowing if you are going to have a 70 hta its not going to get steeper on my xc rigid. This is way more capable. The mk builds are the ones I was eyeing. For the exact reason you were talking about lowkey trail capable. Ride a commute to work and hit some trails before heading home. I've done that on a handful of bikes hardtail usually seems best.
