  • In this buying and depreciation guide of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, I’m showing you the depreciation per year and per 100 miles driven. Furthermore, I show what the forecasted values and fair purchasing prices are and how the depreciation numbers compare to the Corvette C7, Ford Mustang Shelby GT350, Audi R8 V8, and BMW M2. Looking to purchase a V8 Vantage? Then this is the video to watch.
You can contact me on fourwheeltrader@gmail.com if you would like a personalized analysis.

    Corvette C7: • Corvette C8 vs C7 | C7...
BMW M2: • BMW M2 Buying and Depr...
    Audi R8 V8: • Audi R8 V8 Depreciatio...
The video is structured in a top-down way. That means that we first have a look at the market as a whole and some general price levels for theV8 Vantage. After this, we will dive into the details.
Specifically, this means that the video for the V8 Vantage is split a few parts. In the first part, we will explore the market and have a look at the average price points. In the second part, we will figure out the depreciation per year and compare these depreciation curve to some other cars in the same price segment. In the third part, we will have a look at the depreciation per 1000 miles driven. In the fourth part, we will combine the information on the depreciation per year and per 1000 miles to make a more accurate forecast. Finally, at the end of the video, I will show you what a fair purchasing price is for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage,

Thank you for the review and for the mention :) just a small observation, you could have split the standard vantage into 4.3L (2006-2008) and 4.7L (2009 onwards) as the 4.7 is more in demand due to higher Horsepower and torque and a better (less volvowy) interior... but thanks again for the great video!

Hi, I like your videos, however, I believe there is a more accurate way to measure depreciation. You are looking at the value of all model years in a single year (2019 in this case) as a means to predict depreciation. However, this doesn't account for year to year economic conditions. For instance, this year, 2020, I would expect an especially large drop as compared to 2019 due to the virus' effect on economic conditions.
A more accurate method would be to track the average and standard deviation of sales price for a given model year of vehicle through time. Take a 2007 Vantage, for instance. If you looked at the market price for this car in 2007, 2008, 2009 and so on, you would have a more accurate view of the depreciation of that model year vehicle and it's likely trajectory because it is a more direct measurement of the data that you wish to analyze. I realize this requires more rigor because it requires you to look back through time, but it will be more accurate.
However, when doing this, it will likely also be necessary to take the time value of money into account as $1 in 2007 is $1.24 today. So it is necessary to remove inflation from the curves. It can then be added back in to predict a return in the future if desired. Again, it adds more complication, but is a more accurate means of predicting the depreciation of a vehicle.

Thanks for the suggestions. Looking at the values through time is indeed a better way to measure the depreciation. Unfortunately, however, I'm not aware of any data source which would provide this. Especially for the newer cars, the method with model year vs price works fine and serves as a good proxy. The older the car, the less good this method works.

Nice videos, but it doesn’t take any form of rocket scientist to say “buy the lowest priced car with the lowest miles and you’ll avoid the most depreciation”...why not add some exact cars into this and say why it’s the Best Buy.

With these types of cars that are out of warranty there just are so many variables that can effect the price it’s almost on a car by car basis. A £35k car might actually be a better buy than a £27k car...

Ultimately, very few cars don't have steep depreciation curves. It is best as usual to find the nicest example with the features you want and the lower mileages, with a service history, and just enjoy it. The devaluation of currency has as much to do with car values as anything else. Annually our GDP is not even enough to pay for the interest on our national deficit.

unbelievable how the facelift in 2009 doesn't really have any effect on the price even though the 4.7L ones are so much better... like waaaaaay better, I have a 2010.5 and wouldn't even consider anything 2008 or earlier, and nothing with an automatic crapbox transmission
also if you wanna see a crazy depreciation curve you need to do an analysis on the BMW i3
