  • Today we are looking at another Aston Martin Vantage. I only looked at one a couple of months ago, but now I've got one back on the channel. Why? Well, my friend bought this at a bargain price and I wanted to show everyone that the idea of a super cool dream car can be yours at a realistic price!

    A couple of months I traded in my very loved Honda S2000 to a 2007 V8 Vantage manual with less than 40k. Its Ghillies green exterior on Bitter Chocolate interior was what finally made me byte the bullet. It never fails to make me feel like a child, everytime I enter it and turn it on. Damn, just looking at it!
    Thanks James for your input when I was still considering other options! No regrets :)

    I got a 2008 a couple of months ago and couldn’t be happier. Love the fact that I can rev high to enjoy that amazing sound without having to break the speed limits. The only thing I wish this came with and I agree is a nonessential gimmick is to have a ECU crystal key. Anyone has done a conversion from the early Volvo Fobs?

    I bought one second hand - best car I've ever owned. It's handbuilt so little stuff sometimes needs a word with itself (various monitors go mad, then it's fine 20 mins later); but nothing big ever went wrong. You never get a bad reaction on the road. Every time you look at it you smile, and the noise... cannot recommend highly enough.

    I was the second owner of a 2007 V8 Vantage that I bought in 2014, black/black with anthracite wheels & grille. Sadly I had to sell it after 2 years but it was a great car. I didn't lose much money on it, though servicing and consumables are obviously pretty pricey! The general public seem to love Astons and I never had anything but positive remarks. I'd have another but would have to be able to keep my current 996 too - the Vantage feels like a much bigger/chunkier car.

Not that the 4.7 interior switchgear is brilliant (unless you get the 2nd facelift with the Vanquish control stack) but it's way better than the fiddly plastic buttons of the early 4.3s, plus you get the added theatre of inserting the crystal key to fire it up

    The best proportioned, best looking Aston of all in recent years for my money. The DB9 is rather corpulent and bulky compared to the V8 Vantage. Having thrashed a Vantage around Elvington race track a few years ago, it remains my ultimate dream drive. It's not the fastest car, but as James says, "How fast do you really need to go?!" I have two classic cars, which if I sold would easily put me in the driving seat of a Vantage. The one factor I am wary of is the potential cost of maintenance........ • @peoplehavetherights
    @peoplehavetherights Před 4 lety +1

    JM, it's interesting that the 997 was the car I cross-shopped before buying the 4.3 V8 Vantage! Yes, the Porsche is immediately easier to drive, lighter steering, braking, and clutching, easier to shift as well. It's also a lot harsher over broken pavement and due to stern damping, quite a bit louder. It was also roughly ten grand less expensive in US dollars. I bought the Aston for emotional reasons - the comparative rarity, the sound, the looks, the GT demeanor it has, the much larger boot/trunk so one can actually go travel with her. Yes, she does drink the fuel, and yes, the maintenance costs can run even more than a Porsche, but I had already had two older air cooled 911s and decided that the Aston had to join my Jaguar XJ8 for I had wanted to buy British for a very long time. Both cars appear to be reliable so I can forgive them if they require maintenance and repair. The thing that loom over the 997.1 is of course the infamous IMS bearing, which is about a $3500 repair requiring dropping the engine. I do love Porsche "911s," don't get me wrong, but I've always had a hankering for an Aston-Martin and I"m not sorry for the purchase at all.

    Brilliant Review! I bought my 2006 4.3 V 8 Vantage with just 19k miles on the clock for £29k in 2019.It now has had just 22k miles on the clock and I could sell it tomorrow for £36k.Since this review and the shortage of new cars, quality used cars such as Aston Martins have gone through the roof! Having said that who would want to sell an Aston V8 Vantage that is such a pleasure to own and drive!

    Looks great jey I found my dream car 8 years ago it’s a Porsche Boxster 986 2.7 with 37 on the clock mint condition I paid 10 thousand for it , the best deal ever, drove it down to southern Spain on a road trip never missed a beat great fun for not much money and I still have it on my drive great car 💰 😎👍

    Another great V8V review James
    Great cars, I love mine. Not that expensive to run - little more than my 996 4 S was.
    Tell your friend to get a Bamford Rose clutch and flywheel - better than the AMR one I have and transforms the car
    Can’t beat the drama - and other road users let you out at junctions - never found that in the Porsche!

    It’s a gorgeous car and they sound so amazing out of the box. I considered one before buying my Lexus ISF (I value reliability) I was quite happy a few years later when one tried to show me its heels, it sounded phenomenal on full chat as I passed it in my ISF.

      Was in the same position lately, looking for ISF or V8. Unfortunately both are so rare down here, a 4.7 manual V8 vantage came around and it was too good to turn down.

    Like all these Sports cars that were once close or more than 6 figure amounts the parts still cost that much which people who buy them cheap don’t understand and sadly struggle to maintain them correctly. Beautiful Aston and what a sound. With my vacuum cleaner sounded like that 🤣

      @@nevill1947 not much really. Less than £1k a year. One year I had new brake pads. Otherwise just a service at specialist's. It needed new tyres when I sold it.
