Perfume Pretty Barbie and Whitney are finally getting unboxed today! Although they weren't in the best shape once we got them out of their boxes (sticky and potted legs, bad smell, etc.) they still hold a very special place in the collection 🎀💙.
Barbie and Whitney are living their Perfume Pretty fantasy, but where's Ken?! Should we hunt him down and complete the collection?!

I had this Barbie when a was 6. She was my absolute favorite. My great grandmother bought her for me at Longs Drugs. I can still remember the smell of her perfume clear as day. The original Ed Hardy perfume smells pretty damn close to it but not quite the same. I bought the perfume when it first came out JUST to reminisce!
Aw such a cute story! I would've loved to smell the fragrance but ours was obviously super old and pretty much brown coloured 😖. Glad our review brought back some fun memories! - Mick

Hi, I also had that Barbie and I loved the aroma of her perfume, I would like to have one that smells similar, do you know what it could be?
It was very similar to Lady Dior or Lady Dior Bouquet. Loved it.
I´ll look for that scent! Lady Dior is the closest I could find.
We sure don't see anything like these dolls these days 😍
I remember this version, I think my cousin had it and I remember the perfume smells quite nice. I grew up in the 80-90s and the quality and fashion of those dolls in those eras were amazing

Great review guys! Both dolls are gorgeous, I love when Barbie fashions are "transformable", I wish more dolls today had fashion like that. When I heard Whitney's arm snap I feared for her life, so glad she didn't break! Now get rid of that perfume before you both get poisoned! lol

Omg I'm 35 and felt the same excitement as the 6yr old me when opening a Barbie out of the box!! My cousins had all barbies out there and seeing this vid it reminded me of how I loved going to their house so I could play with them!!

@@MickMikkeTV just 2days ago I told my girls I will be dressing as Barbie and The Rockers for Halloween this year, even found the vintage purple belt and glittery pink leggings for the outfit and one of my girls ran inside my closet and dragged my collector's edition barbie and begged me to let her open it, so that gave me the idea to get her one she can play with on x-mas. I only have 3 collector's edition barbies, the workout barbie from TS3 and one Bratz holiday collector's edition...all still in boxes and because my daughter asked me why did I love this B&TR's so much I went ahead to look up 80's Barbie's commercials and then your vids came out on my recommendation feed...well one night of insomnia well spent going through memorie lane, hope to see more videos soon 😃

Loved that Barbie. Got it for Christmas 1987 and till this day I regret not buying Whitney too (named Princess Laura in Europe). Prettiest doll I´ve ever seen along with Bridal Midge and the first Aurora Sleeping Beauty ever to come out in the early 90s (those I bought and still love them). My Barbie had lowlights in her hair though, it was beautiful. The perfume was lovely, I can still smell it. Lady Dior and Lady Dior bouquet are the closest I found so far. If Mattel makes it, I´ll be a buyer!

I had the Whitney doll when I was 5 and I still think about the perfume. I want to know what it was bc I have this nostalgic memory. She was my favorite. I am so loving this video. It takes me back. Did it say on the box what the scent was!?
Gosh, all the memories. I had all 3 (Barbie, Whitney, Ken) when I was a kid and I loved the perfume smell so much.
The Barbie was my first Barbie as a kid. My mom took away the perfume though. I played with her so much her hair stood up like a troll doll eventually.

MEMORIES... in 1988 my friend *Bobby kinda stole the perfume bottle from his sister to give to me in first grade. He got in trouble when his sister found out and I was forced to give it back. The problem was I had already used up the rest of the bottle. So I carefully squirted a bunch of my mom's Giorgio knock off "Primo" into the bottle. His sister must've liked it because she never complained and was my "older" (third grade) friend until I moved later that year.

The spotty legs is a manufacturing flaw in the vinyl used during that time. The Jewel Secrets, Sensations, California Dream, and Island Fun lines all suffer from this problem depending on where they were made. For example I have a Jewel Secrets Skipper that was NIB that got the spots pretty badly and her tights sort of helps hide the issue but my Jewel Secrets Barbie and Whitney don’t have this. Sometimes the spots are less noticeable. California Dream Midge has this problem quite a bit. The spots aren’t toxic but they are still not very nice to look at.

@@MickMikkeTV I learned about what those spots were from a Barbie collecting Facebook group. You can sort of tell where a doll was made by subtle differences in the face paint. Barbie was usually made in factories in either Taiwan or the Philippines. I can’t remember which one had the bad batch of plastic but it was resolved by 1988.
The plastic starts to break down over time that’s why the legs get sticky and patchy

At least you can cover the legs with the transforming dress on barbie, THROW THE PERFUME AWAY !!! eeeeewwwwwww lol I love the hair on both of the dolls, they are very pretty too - maybe you could re body them at some point - just a thought, can you superglue the necklace? great review as always, loved it 😘😘😘😘

I just got this doll still in the box today for 8 dollars the blonde one and her necklace broke too but i made her a pearl necklace to replace it
The necklace is so fragile it seems 😅. The pearls sound like a great option for a replacement!

My Perfume Pretty Whitney's head and dress was fine, her legs.... Not so good. I had a Magic Moves Barbie with a haircut who's body still magically moved so I head swapped! So now she's a Pretty Magic Whitney!

It's a beautiful doll, I recently bought the African American version of Barbie without the ruffled stole, the perfume, the gloves, shoes and earrings, even though she came in the box (which was opened a certain time ago) and also, like Whitney, it came with sticky legs, I don't know why!
Oh I want her so bad too! The AA is stunning. I don't get the sticky legs!! It's so strange and gives the dolls such a weird smell 😭 LOL. I used rubbing alcohol and baking soda and it removed most of the stickiness! - Mick

I recently got the African American version of Perfume Pretty Barbie. Her waist was cracked inside and in the process of unboxing her, her lower half just fell off. It's an easy fix if I can find her a donor body.
Also the perfume? After 30+ years is quite disgusting. This one looked better than mine did. Mine had some sort of gelatinous brown crap floating in it.
