      Not trying to be a prick, but you do realize the significance of a video to literally pictures and written instructions? You can’t even put together ikea furniture together with written instructions. They make apps that show a 3d and animations so people can figure it out how to put a dresser together. I guarantee this is a paid promo and this guy got $500 in parts for free for showing instructions on video.

    Thanks for the videos! Mine is a 2003, a little different but close enough to this to figure out. Just finished replacing the heater core, among other things, was a tough job by myself but I did it! Garages around me were charging $800-900, cost me about $120 including parts and some new tools.

    Thank you! Thank you! You're videos are awesome and I've been waiting on this megacab with dual zone and rear vents rebuild video! I recently bought an 06 megacab Laramie and the air flow to the front portion of the cab is horrible. Definitely going to be doing this rebuild and cutting out of the rear vent netting. Thanks again!

I just received the blend door replacements from Blend Door USA and will likely be tackling this project next weekend. This is the only video I have come across showing the differences in the dual zone system which is a huge help to me as I have the dual zone system. Shout out to Blend Door USA as their customer service and quality doors are unmatched. Can I ask, what size weather stripping did you use on the exterior of the HVAC box? I own a 2016 Ram 3500. The air stays relatively cold on drivers side, while hot on passengers side. The dealer checked the actuators and says they are ok, and the heater core is the problem, because it is probably clogged. He put some kind of liquid in the prestone, to unclog it… Personnaly, I thought that if the air was hot somewhere in the cabin, then the problem has to be with the actutors, because all the air has to go trough the heater core before the distribution of the air is done. What do you think?

    Unbelievably Great! When can I bring my truck by?? Ha! The quality of these doors can be readily seen. Good work, Blend Doors USA! Anyone have a labor estimate for 12/2020? I'm located in northern Colorado.
    My low-mileage, clean 2006 Ram 3500 is an extended cab with dual-zone controls and about 18 months ago I suspected a blend door failed such that no heat is getting to the driver side, while the passenger side gets heat. The fail may also be intermittent, but I'm not totally sure. (Does anyone have a comment about my theory so far?).

      The dash is a lot easier to pull than you think. If you just want a temporary quick fix, pull the blower motor and pull the recirculation door out through the bottom. You might have to break the door to get it through though.

    • @flopster843
      @flopster843  Před 4 lety

      I put rear vents into my quad cab just like you're wanting to. You have to buy the lower half of the hvac box from a mega cab. There are internal differences that allow airflow. The top half is the same though.

    • @DIYDynamix
      @DIYDynamix Před 4 lety

      @@flopster843 That's kind of what I thought. I've already invested in the dual zone hvac box, and I'm not even sure where I would find the bottom half of the shell. That would completely top off the conversion I'm doing.
      I'm swapping out my dash for one that has a Laramie wiring harness allowing me to have infinity sound, adjustable pedals, electronic 4x4(won't use that though) steering wheel controls, and one or two other things I'm forgetting I think. Sadly no bluetooth, but I can't seem to find that wiring harness anywhere, or more specifically any wreckers within Ontario, but I don't even know what to search for to find that at a wreckers.

    Lots of missed details in this video. There are 2 more bolts behind the radiator puke tank that hold the HVAC box to the firewall. You best remove those, or some shit is going to get broken as you yank on the box. All the obvious stuff is in the video, all the Gotcha stuff is not. The blend door USA kit i got required significant modification to get it to function properly. FYI

    • @flopster843
      @flopster843  Před 6 lety

      This video has nothing to do with removal from the truck, that's the other video. And most 3rd gen trucks do not have a coolant reservoir on the firewall, this one does not. What is this "significant modification" you speak of? If the doors didn't fit then you ordered the wrong kit or installed them backwards.

    • @DieselRamcharger
      @DieselRamcharger Před 6 lety

      Mine damn sure does. So i don't know where you get your information. I just did the job in its entirity, watching these videos as i went. There are several differences, in each video, to my truck. So we must assume many other trucks out there are not like this video. It would be good to notate that these videos are not all inclusive, instead of pretending to be mr know it all god of the 3rd gen. You've missed a lot of little details. You cover the big steps but lack in the details, and we all know thats where the devil lives. Fortunately i found other peoples videos specifically about pulling the HVAC box and they notated the hidden fasteners. Ive got a bone stock 2006 mega, unique in no way.

      Well there's your problem. This video is for a 2008 6.7L. The process is very similar, but not identical. All of my videos and the entire website are based off of this specific truck. Sorry if you were misled or misinformed about anything. However, those bolts were covered in the removal video. I just didn't have to remove the coolant overflow or the TCM to gain access because this truck does not require them. Either way, glad you got it all figured out.

    My 2006 mega cab has been to the shop three times for the same problem $$$$. I am about to take this on myself. This is not as difficult as I thought. The problem is that the air flow varies tremendously and I can not control the a/c or heat temperature very well. Air flow is minimal at the dash, floor, and defroster. I can hear the fan pushing air but the air is not going out the vents. So far they have replaced the circulation door and the actuator. They also put in a control module for the temperature control on the dash and replaced the a/c compressor. I asked for all doors to be replaced and that did not happen. What would be your best guess as to what needs to be done? Thank you in advance.

    • @flopster843
      @flopster843  Před 6 lety +1

      The first thing I would check is to see if the evaporator is clogged with dirt. Remove the blower motor from the bottom and reach in the hole with a cell phone to take a picture of the evaporator. If it's dirty, flush it with water.
      Second thing is to check to see if all the doors are moving properly. You can see all the actuators and drivers with the box in the truck. Watch them while you cycle the controls and make sure they all move and stop like they should. If one spins more than 90 degrees, you have a broken door.
      Last thing is to cut out the mesh screen on top of the box. This is here to create a restriction in order to force more air out of the rear vents. Removing it will significantly increase front flow, but will also decrease rear flow.

    • @flopster843

      @@brianjirish A single zone system has 4 actuators. Dual zone has 5. The two blend doors are in the center of the box tied together with a rod and driven by a single actuator. On a late third gen, they're accessible by pulling the glove box. Early third gen, you'll have to go up under the dash.

    On the blend door actuators which one is the driver (left) according to snap on computer . I'm getting full heat in driver vents and cold in passenger and it seems all my doors are fine but the actuator for the driver zone says its bad I'm trying to figure out which is which so I can replace thank you!

      I am not familiar with the snap-on system and how it reads actuators. You can look behind the dash and see the actuators, can you tell which one isn't moving?

      It's hard to tell but I can tell you it's similar to the box in the video except I don't have back seat vents

      All it said was driver blend door actuator which I'm thinking is the one that has the link to operate both blend doors in unison

      If it's the one that controls both sides in a single zone system, then it's the one in the center-top with the linkage rod connected to it.

      It's a dual zone system no rear vents

    Help! 04 Ram. Dual zone. I have repaired the ReCirc door. My problem is this--the defrost works and is hot...but when i switch to floor or middle vents = No heat !! just cool air ..also the air still "leaks out" the defrost vents. If i can get heat out of ALL vents im good---SO which door would cause no heat except defrost vents ??
