On the app I just customize my drink to "light ice" that way I don't get a cup of ice in my venti
Okay but the “small drink no ice” and “large ice cup” isn’t a hack. Here’s why: when u ask for no ice in ur small drink, they just fill the rest up with more base. Base = water/milk. If you want it to taste the same as a large drink you’re going to have to pay to add the flavors, which cost u the same as a large drink

What people fail to realize is the venti still has more expresso and caffeine in it. The tall (small) only has one shot of expresso whereas the tall has 3. By adding more ice you’re really just getting less milk to dilute the expresso down.
barista here.. there's a lot different about the sizes, not just how many ounces go in each.
if you get a tall iced latte, there is 1 shot of espresso in it, VS if you get a venti iced latte, there are 3 shots of espresso

@@alejandrobravo8260 It was obvious since day 1 of Starbucks opening lmao. All these places scam people..the masses are addicted to these chains so they will never die out.
If you order no ice, you're still getting fucked over - the cup will never be full, and if you ask for light ice, it's "LiGhT iCe" and they hardly lessen the amount of ice. All in all, that's why we should be making coffee at home!
To preface.. I’m not hating, arguing or trying to prove a point - I totally agree that it is overpriced! I just thought it would be helpful to share some insider knowledge lol.
I was a barista trainer at a Starbucks in Canada. The venti cup you’re holding has a lot more ice than what is supposed to go in a venti iced coffee. I don’t know if it’s the same in the US, but according to our manual, 1 scoop of ice is the very last thing added to the cup. Of course you get more liquid when you ask for no ice haha - but if it helps, the venti cold cup are actually 24oz (compared to the venti hot cups 20oz) to make room for the ice without compromising the amount of liquid. Also, side note.. when making an iced espresso beverage (latte, caramel macchiato, etc..) a venti gets a 3rd espresso shot but if you order a tall with no ice, it’s just extra milk being added to fill the cup which obviously makes the coffee taste weaker (a great option for those who find the beverages too strong though!!).
I agree thought, the way you ordered this is a cool sneaky way to get more for your money (especially when it’s huge corporations)! There are so many other cool hacks like this too - people can get get real creative! 😂
I never got more by asking for no ice, we get short changed either way. Starbucks as a whole is a scam..
@@FactStorm I think it just depends on the store/barista. As a starbucks worker when someone ask for no ice I usually do fill it to the top but it is literally just milk. And if you want more when you ask for no ice just ask to fill it to the top please. They shouldn’t say no and if the barista does they’re probably having a bad day.
@@mielivre9427 Which proves it's not uniform in practice. They may have a manual and receive certain training on how to craft drinks, but each person/store is different like you said lol. It renders the whole thing redundant..
Filling a cup with ice and then putting the liquid only fits the surface area not the amount of drink, it’ll probably be worse with more ice then the drink requires, basically by doing this hack it goes from 0% ice to 75% ice
When you order light or less ice here the cup ends up 1/4-1/3 empty. They refuse to even add extra water or milk. Also a cup of ice here cost 1/3 of the price of the coffee and only comes about half full.
I only buy Starbucks when it’s buy1 free 1 promotions … other day I visit local cafes or I make my own at home w nespresso capsules

@Chris Rangel it is like pouring milk after cereal vs pouring cereal after milk. Obviously, Starbucks use this method to fill the ice first, then pour the drink that way the customer leaves with less to drink in hopes you buy more. Then again, you can get free refills/seconds if you stay drinking at their place for as long as you intend to. I don't know if they still have that out in 2020 but I did remember that rule back in 2016.

I am totally for this video and I want to explain to you more in depth that why this works because the Venti is advertised as 24 ounces and the tall is advertised as 12 ounces which is the amount of drink that you are getting up to the third line and the cup is about 4 oz bigger than what if advertiserd. So a tall with no ice would actually be 16 ounces of liquid not 12 because 12 ounces of liquid is is your drink to the third line plus ice. and a Venti cup full of ice is about 8 ounces of ice give or take and a Venti cup is in total 24 ounces +4 which is about 28 ounces. So if you put 16 ounces of liquid +8 you get 24 so that is why this method works. so yes you are getting more liquid if you ask for no ice but you are not being cheated any liquid based off of what is advertised if you don’t because the amount of liquid that they advertise 12, 16, 24 and 32 is correct however they add a few ounces in the cup to include for ice which doesn’t take away at all from the ounces of the drink I hope this helps

Ever notice they use different size scoops for the ice? Yea. A venti doesn’t actually have a venti cup’s worth of ice in it.
Frappuccinos, refreshers, and iced teas have different scoops. All other iced drinks use the same scoop
The lines in the cup literally show you where the liquid fill up to in the cup

$40 dollars a gallon? There are 128 oz in a gallon. so a 16 oz drink goes into a gallon 8 times. I you pay $5 dollars for a 16 oz drink, 8 time 5 = 40, you are paying $40 per gallon.
Some people do this 3 times a day. Then you get in their car and drive around like an idiot, looking for the cheapest gas.
12 oz goes into a gallon 10.66 times. So if you pay $1 dollar for a can of soda, you are paying $10.66 a gallon.
I always order no ice and a cup of ice because of this very reason.
I’m actually a new Starbucks Barista, when you order no ice they just fill all the way up with milk. I would suggest telling them to add more expresso shot and syrup.

@@FactStorm at the end of the day we just got to decide if we want same flavors or more volume. You can actually order refresher, ice coffee, and cold brew with light ice or no ice and it should taste the same because it is already prep.

Alot of places due this. A sports stadium, I believe in Texas, was sued because their medium and large beers were actually the same size but $3 difference. Also, I have some McDonald's Super Size cups that are supposed to be 32 oz. when I fill them with ice, I can barely fit a 12 oz can of Diet Coke in them.

But they dont put that much ice in your venti drink its all measured its like ice to the first line but when you get a venti cup of ice they fill it to the top with ice because theres no drink in it. But i mean if u feel ur getting scammed order light ice

When you order a tall iced latte no ice you arent getting the same amount of espresso as a venti drink. Venti iced gets 3 shots while a tall gets only 1 shot

Better believe its a scam. I ordered a small scone, it was the size of a quarter. The entire store is way overpriced. It is absurdly ostentatious. I just simply refuse to go there.

Heyyyy!! I work at Starbucks lol and I guess u could say that’s a hack but the standard amount of ice is to the first line ( unless they ask for different) but that’s at my location can’t say the same for all!!

I used to work at Starbucks, most of the time the drive thru has a camera so she probably saw the camera in the passenger side and decided to ask incase she was being set up for a prank or something.

So this video doesn't make sense cuz there's literally a line on the venti cup that shows u how much ice goes in it? And that cup is filled past the normal ice line that being said i have ordered my grande double shot w light ice and u won't believe the amount of times ill actually get a cup thats not completely filled. Can you tell me what is the strongest coffee in Starbucks because I was there recently and my cup it was mote milk than coffee 😡😡 can you imagine how much coffee do they save.doing that !
if you're wanting flavor wise strong its probably a shaken espresso or cold brew drink. if you're wanting strongest caffeine wise its a blonde espresso. Most people don't know that lighter roasts actually have more caffeine, darker roasts have more flavor.

@@fatassasianman6511 ok yeah that's pretty fair, making an iced coffee and then straining out the ice and pouring it straight into a small would mean they're skipping shaking the drink, and it would take a much longer time. To me its just way more convenient to pay the extra few bucks.

You’re paying more for the expresso. The large still has 3 shots of expresso whereas the small has 1 shot. By getting no ice, like he did in the video, you’re just getting more milk, which dilutes the expresso. The large(venti) is still going to be a stronger drink with more caffeine. The video is misleading.

So by getting no ice all they’re doing is adding more milk to fill the space of the ice. You’re playing yourself because it still has one shot of caffeine in it but they’re adding more milk to fill it to the top.
