Fun Fact: After the credits, Neal's boss is still at his desk analyzing the ads, his Thanksgiving dinner sitting on his desk.
New House Fact: Neal's (Steve Martin) house was also a set built from scratch, consisting of seven rooms, and taking five months to complete. It ended up costing $100,000, which angered Paramount executives, and caused turmoil on the set.
Crazy Rant Fact: The Marathon Car Rental scene is exactly one minute long from the time Steve Martin starts his tirade to the time the attendant ends the scene. In that sixty seconds, the "F" word is used nineteen times. The film would've easily been rated PG or PG-13 by the MPAA, if it weren't for this one scene.
Obviously, the sentimentality of the ending did not affect you. If all it did was make you laugh occasionally then you did not feel what most reactors felt.

There's a story line in the movie that didn't get a whole lot of play up, and i think the movie needed it, just for character development. But Steve Martin's character, and his wife are experiencing problems, some distrust likely due to the fact that he works in a whole other city and they haven't experienced being a part before. So she thought he was cheating on her.. and he was making up stories about his whereabouts, during his ordeal getting home for Thanksgiving. the ending ties it all together. but if you don't like the character's you're not going to enjoy the movie that much, and I can't blame you for that. It's good for honesty also. Be true to you and we will appreciate that. Anyways, good react! Looking forward to more! xo
Well, that certainly makes the weird tension between Neal and his wife make more sense! Thanks for the insight! I didn't like the characters but I didn't hate them, I did enjoy watching the movie and it did make me laugh a lot. Candy and Martin are great actors so that helps lol
i dont think she thought he was messing around...just working so much and being away lots...characters are great

I think Dell just lives the life of a traveling salesman, staying in cheap hotels and selling out of his trunk (full of shower curtain rings). He probably has a sales territory and maybe gets a little per diem with his company.
There’s extra footage on CZcams. The thief was the pizza guy who didn’t get a tip (that scene was cut).
