You would do this prior to moving into a Program like Revit/AutoCAD to finish out the detailing correct?
Yes, that's the idea: to use it as a "concept design" tool with the fluidity of the pencil. Its a lot easier for an older generation of architects *LIKE ME!* who are used to designing with pencil to draw/design in the conventional way first, then move into CAD, but some of the younger generation seems to be re-discovering the fluidity and easy access to the imagination that the pencil interface provides as well. In any case, they key is to be a fluid and responsive as possible at this early stage of design, and if starting design in one of these 7 ways gets you going and creative, then that's great. Not the only way, but useful knowledge for some, and a revelation for some, too. Thanks for the comment, my friend. How are you using these apps in your daily practice?
Thanks for the response I am using combination of SketchUp and Paper for sketching … Morpholio is no different than using a manual ruler on a grid in Paper … its 3 years since I first downloaded Morpholio during that time numerical input has been one of the most common upgrades requested … Morpholio still say its in the pipeline … despair
@@michaelsnelling2918 yeh I’ve been in touch with them. I think there’s a fundamental conceptual distinction that kicks in the mediate the moment you adopt numerical input, though. My personal opinion is at that point, you go from a concept design tool to a design development tool, because, at least for me, numerical input makes my imagination kind of frees up, and I no longer feel as loose as if I’m sketching on paper. I know that’s just for me, but I think it makes sense because when I use sketchup, I also get very tight. and besides, what’s the difference between a Procreate or a Morpholio? Where are you can have numerical input, and a sketch up for iPad, or a Concepts app, or the Shapr3d app? By the way, excuse the extreme typos, as I am dictating these during a bike ride. Beautiful day here in New York State!
Adding a dimension is a matter of orientation it gives a relationship to other elements in a sketch … its a momentary addition that doesn’t interrupt flow … a ruler is fiddly and awkward … just my experience …
@@michaelsnelling2918 I totally get it, but I just want to be sure I know what you mean by "adding a dimension?" Do you mean simply writing one in or adding it as text so you can remember it later, or actually adding it to an exportable file so that when exported, the scale will translate when opened in Rhino, for example, or Autocad?
It looks like you're using an 11" iPad. That's what I was planning to purchase. Am I correct?
I’m using 12.9 but that’s because I wanted it to be as much like an old school drawing board as possible. The bigger the better back in the day right?
What is the point in design in perspective over a picture of something?
Like if the architectural work or render has already been done why do that?
Or if you are doing a project what is the point in doing that over a picture of somewhere else?
I understand for “aesthetics” I just done see how drawing over a image of some place else is going to help me and the portfolio. Maybe if you got a picture from inside a model you are doing then doing the design in perspective over it then that would be useful but why do it to a real image ?
As there are architectural changes in a project, there are interior, perhaps even in later stages when the architectural part of a project is finished. So, doing a perspective drawing can help quickly visualise how the interior fits in place to scale of a space and it's a lot easier to add atmosphere and emotion to a perspective drawing, so it can help assist a client in their final decision making more easily, quickly and efficiently... even if waiting for a software model rendering

As in the case of both examples of photos I use in the video, it can often be useful to sketch over a photo of a partially completed building or interior to figure out the next thing you want to do if you haven't designed it already, or to figure out what might look better than the idea that you are currently planniong but they haven't built yet. It can aslo be useful to sketch over Google Street view images as a ready-made background for a new building or storefront you want to put in the same place. That way you can refer to all the existing proportions of the building you will be preplacing as a guide for helping you design your new one. Lots of other uses, too. But most important is just the fact that you *CAN* do it as one of the 7 ways, so I felt obligated to mention it ). Thanks for your question. Keep them coming please!
