    Today I’m going to try Morpholio Trace for the very first time-live-right here in front of you, and I’m going to use it to design and render a plan for a contemporary 3000 sf house.
    I’m a little anxious as to whether or not I’ll be able to figure out the scales, or be able to use the brushes to get the same rendering effects I love to get in Procreate, but here goes...

    Thanks for your videos, very interesting and inspiring. 👏
    As for my landscape architecture projects, I'm switching back and forth between Morpholio Trace and Concepts app with anything need to be in certain scale and proportions (masterplans, sections, details), and only feel comfortable to do abstract POV 3d sketches and collages with Procreate.
    Somehow I got used to Morpholio Trace, and find it most intuitive and minimalistic, with it's limited brushes and line widths. Gives the best sence of scale. Plus smart fill, roller brush, and custom stencils, most convenient parallel line / offset curves drawing workflow.
    But at the end of the day, it's not as important which tools are "most advaneced", but tools you are good with. As I see, you found your way to produce amazing concepts in Procreate.
    Still, hope to see more videos about MT from you. 👍

Being a rookie, I am having trouble understanding layer hierarchy and visual controls such as paper blending. I am trying to figure out the tree/shadow technique, but I cannot follow your steps…even when viewed several times. Can you help me with that? I keep seeing the shadows under the trees. The shadows is what makes the site plans pop.

I'm a mostly retired architect now (still maintaining my license however) and do a little consulting work every now and then helping architect friends in small firms with their projects. I've been using Procreate for a while and recently discovered MT which was so intriguing so I bought a subscription. Your video was clear and helpful and I appreciate that very much.

    Ive been using procreate & photoshop mix and as i move into more rendering and plotting out designs (im building out the interior of a van by hand in my notebook) Im rediscovering ways to use procreate. Havent used this app before but it looks good. Not sure why I would move from procreate but i do like the rulers and how precise you can get. Which do you like more?

    • @iPadForArchitecture
      @iPadForArchitecture  Před 2 lety

      Until such time as you can export a CAD file from Morpholio I think you can do everything you need in procreate-with a few hacks eg the imported scale rulers, etc. For me, it’s more intuitive and that offsets the initial lack of these tools. But I’ll keep practicing Morpholio and let everyone know if there is a change

    Hi James, did you figure out how to add Text for various spaces in your plan? Like, bedrooms, living room, kitchen, pool, deck etc. MT creates a seperate layer for each text which is a bummer! Is there a workaround to overcome this limitation?

    • @iPadForArchitecture
      @iPadForArchitecture  Před 2 lety

      Darn good question, and to be honest, no, I never looked into it that deeply, but I hear you. I usually just stick with "architectural lettering" at this phase, as I find the text tools in both Procreate and Morpholio to be rather cryptic and non-intuitive. But you sure gave me a good idea for a next video lol!

      @iPadForArchitecture  Před 2 lety +3

      Hey Dawn! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, I'm going to start doing videos showing MT, too, but I am also a real rookie at this, and I will continue doing mostly Procreate videos because frankly, I still find MT to be somewhat awkward and harder to use that Pr. Seems far less intuitive, but I do want to build an audience for iPad drawing in general, and the more I can do to help people make drawing by hand relevant again in the digital era, the happier I will be. Re: the UCLAx class, you hav to be enrolled at UCLA to take it but I'll eventually release the classes online. Fair warning, they'll probably be boring as heck lol!

    You claim to be new to this and say we’ll be watching your very first experience with this software, then go on and start using it like an expert! You somehow magically know what all the functions are and where to find them, including the scale that’s not available in procreate. This is clearly a paid advert for Morpholio, which is fine, if you just say that up front. Nobody likes being lied to!

    • @iPadForArchitecture
      @iPadForArchitecture  Před rokem

      That’s an excellent point. It is not a paid advert-I really am trying it for the first time-but I did have to practice before making the video otherwise it would have been a painfully boring video. So perhaps I should have said “here’s a video I made after trying Morpholio for a day.” Thanks for pointing that out. I recently made a video called “Why procreate is actually the best app for designers but nobody knows it” so if you have a chance watch that and perhaps it will seem less like I lied to you
