ABOUT ME
As a licensed architect, professional renderer and design consultant for 25+ years, UCLA Professor of iPad Drawing James Akers watched as sketching and designing with pencil in hand was slowly replaced by design with a keyboard and mouse. As he made the change from paper to iPad, he discovered that the Apple Pencil makes designing by hand relevant again, and created online courses in Procreate, Sketchup for iPad and *Morpholio Trace that will get you back to the drawing you love, and restore the pencil to its rightful place in your design process.
Very good tutorial
So glad you like it. Are you using any of these apps in your work, and if so , how?
@@iPadForArchitecture greetings! Yep, I use morpholio for redlining but also quick design and layout sketches in my architecture office. I mostly render in Allplan and twinmotion but seeing the potential of the iPad with procreate in your channel I’m trying to widen my skillset. Great to have a high quality channel to come to and learn.
It just makes so much more fun when you can do what you love while also having an optimised workflow.
@@NerdishNature Well said! It never ceases to amaze me the hybrid workflows that come up, too. Just used Procreate to "take apart" a plan sketch that a client did on some homeowner's house design app, and spent the day rearranging the little rectangles I made of each room. Pushed them around to get a couple of schemes, then went to Morpholio to do area studies, and finally to Sketchup for iPad for quick massing model. Could have done it all from a beach somewhere, too, I guess. Oh well, didn' think of that lol. Thanks for your comments and interest!
Fabulous!! I must start using this program!! Jimmy 🇬🇧
Thank you Jimmy! I had a feeling that was you haha. Welcome back!
Good clear video, Thanks
Very valuable video
I was hoping someone would say so! The happiest of holidays to you and yours, btw--James
Thanks for you nice clear explanations. I am struggling with the limitation of layer extents where in some instances i need to have items outside the layer boundary on the one layer. For example, sometimes it cuts a line in half and it is not practical to create another layer and then attempt to 'connect' lines to those drawn on the first layer. Is there a solution i am missing? I hope that makes sense.
Uggh. I've had same issue. No easy fix other than continuous self-vigilance. The happiest of holidays to you and yours, btw--James
Hi, I have problem with exporting the project, there is no pixelated problem while working on a project but when I export my project, it is always pixelated even if I select high resolution. What I need to do to solve this problem? If you help me I ll be glad. Thank you
Let me ponder this one. In meantime, wishing the happiest of holidays to you and yours )
Interesting
Thank you! Useful to you in your professional work?
@@iPadForArchitecture yes in all honesty, I’ve bought the app with the subscription for the year and it has been sitting dormant since February however, assembling your channel a while back I had a few construction projects that required me to be out on the site but now I’m back inside my office ready to design so I’ll make use of all the tutorials that you shared with me and implement them in my workflow.
How to fix pixelated lines? Even when zooming out you can tell it’s pixelated!
Two possible solutions: 1) If you're starting a project by importing an image, the image may be small in terms of pixels, and therefore anything you draw over it may also be small and pixellated, and/or 2) try toggling off "Stay Layers" in settings so that when you zoom in with a new layer, that layer will always be at optimum resolution
