@ptk 1113 Because people don't like hearing that a $500 pistol matches the performance of a 226/229. Don't tell them the Sig Pro 2022 had a better trigger either 😉
The Sig Pro makes a showing in Bourn Identity and Bourn Supremacy so it’s very popular in the European countries. Everyone that does a review seems to give advice as to what to change but the truth is that it comes out of the box just perfect for the majority of people and there is allot of people that just don’t want a Glock and I’m one of them. You will never go wrong with a Sig Sauer.
I’ve watched several videos of this handgun and after getting my hands on one I realized that the pinky extension on the magazines are a must for large hand people like myself. My pinky fits perfectly on this and I’m convinced to conceal carry this pistol. But great review sir and much appreciated. 👍🏿💯🇺🇸
To my eyes the SIGs are the best looking pistols ever made. That 229 is just awesome, as is the 226. Unfortunately, the all-metal versions are BRUTALLY expensive, esp in my neck of the woods. So I got a 2022. Same features as the 226, same capacity but around a THIRD of the price. Still dream about a 226 though. ;)
In my area love going to my Hunting/Gun Store. The have law away you can pay it off 30 to 90 day's. Bought my High Point C9, Mossberg 590 Shockwave and Sig Sauer SP2022. On a payment plan.
Metal sig nitron 226s and 229s were selling for 599 new 3 years ago. I even caught a used good condition German 226 for 600 flat. You can get them you just have to look around. Big box stores will always beat you over the wallet.
I like your reviews. Very detailed with a lot of good information. Your constructive criticism is a welcome change from many other gun channels that do not go into depth about some of the short comings of a firearm. Good job.
I actually like the base plate on the SP2022. I have one and I have really big hands. The base plate makes it really comfortable in my hand because my pinky actually does go down to it. If it was like the other one, it would be pretty uncomfortable for me. It’s a great design and a great gun in my opinion! Good review!
Great review, you covered everything on this gun, I have a P226 , a P320, XD mod 2 and Glock 30SF , this is the only gun that has performed excellent with 100% reliability and great accuracy, I have 2 friends that bought them after we went to the range... I think the low price was made to compete with Glock prices and since its not very well known in the US to give you a $100 saving over any glock .. Cheers
Did the same thing to mines. I picked one of these up for 400 LNIB. I'm very happy with my purchase. Only thing that's a turn off is it doesn't seem to have many upgrades that can be done to it
I got the traditional (black) because I like the da/sa over my strikers. Love the grip texture, loved the price point and it's more accurate than I am. Took a class at Sig in NH and they have you drill dry fire with an empty casing standing up by the front site to get used to the double action trigger. After some practice the casing will stay still and your DA trigger pull will be spot on.
One of the best reviews I’ve seen- thanks for the depth of details. I have a 226 extreme that I love but I added the sp2022 a month ago and love it too. Both are fun to shoot and very accurate. If someone wants sig quality and shooting impressions and can’t afford spending $1000 or more to buy new they will be happy with the sp2022.
The base plate on the mag helps me with quick draw and running while reloading mags. The glove comment makes sense but I never worked in a cold enough environment to try. Great review!
Liked your review. I am 6’7” and that base plat makes it so the gun fits my hand, just for the record. Which is why I usually use my old kimber warrior.
This is definitely a 'sleeper' pistol. I think because of the large price difference people assume that it is a 'base quality' Sig but from all that I can observe, the pistol is well made with a nice stock trigger with Beretta 92's can't even claim. I bought the .40 S&W version and even with that higher pressure round, the recoil isn't crazy more than my Glock 19. I'm honestly thinking of picking up one in 9mm. My fingers must be a bit fatter than yours because I definitely make use of that angled foot on the magazine base. Even though the price has gone up about $100 since I got mine years ago, you still get a lot for your money to include night sights. Good pistol.
Very good video with plenty of information. I have my SIG 2022 as my daily carry for the last 2 years. Damm good value for the money. Sure there's the P-226, P-229 all metal classics.. what ever you like to use.
Your a great reviewer but a tip for you. Don't say "cheap". Cheap implies poor inferior quality. Say "inexpensive" to describe lower cost. It's s shame this SP 2022 lacks the full length slide rails which adds to a rigid, no flex feeling pistol. Otherwise this might replace one of my collection. ✌️ Great review as usual 👍
Great gun that was designed for LE. Cost saving polymer lower means lower price. It’s 100% a Sig Sauer, it shoots like a Sig, and is built like a Sig. There are different aftermarket triggers as well as enhanced guide rods. Love mine.
Oh man when I saw sp2022 I thought about two things when i compared it to the 226 weight and decocker and honestly I don’t regret buying my sp2022 now I want the 357 and 40
When it first came out it was the Sig Pro, slot of armed security buys them do to the reasonable price. Also comes in a two tone stainless and black and available in 9mm and 40 S&W . Mec-gar makes mags for both and around $25 to $30 dollars.
Hey really love your videos. Thanks for your service in law enforcement. I am retired from Detroit PD. If u ever have a chance I would like to see u review the Steyr M9A1. I think u will love it.
Cliff Lee: thanks for the kind words and thanks for your service as well. I must admit that I have fondled a Steyr more than once and have been very tempted. A local pawn shop has one that they have sat on for probably a year... Might be time to check it out.
I realize this is a 2+yr old video, but wanted to echo some other comments that the base plate on the mag does provide more room for larger hands or gloved hands. I have an SP2022 and my pinky does cover most of the mag plate with each finger touching and my middle finger against the bottom of the trigger guard relief area. If the mag plate were smaller, then my hand likely would not fit comfortably as a smaller mag plate would be rubbing against my pinky. I also went and bought the large grip for it (9 yrs ago, marked Sig Pro and different shape/texture pattern) because of my large hands. It definitely feels more solid in my hands with the large grip on it, but the larger grip does add width and make it harder to conceal.
About the bottom of the magazine it looks like a pinky slide I think a lot depends on how big your hands are that little pinky grip helps me a lot with shooting the second thing is when I draw it out of the holster my hand slides and latches onto that pinky grip and makes drawing out of the holster a lot faster and quicker and then when bringing it up on Target I usually get my hand up close to the Beavertail and at the same time my pinky is resting on the pinky rest at the bottom of the magazine so I guess it does depend on how big your hands are but you gave a very good presentation only difference between my 2022 and yours is I have an internal extractor so I have one of the original one 2022s that are more than likely made with the French order my serial numbers very very low and I enjoy shooting it thanks for the great video😢
Liked everything you said in your review... but I love the mag. I have bigger hands and I like the lip this mag has. Works for me. I like it because shooting .40 S&W... it makes me feel the weapon is firmly in my hand and isn't going anywhere. One thing I changed... is the trigger. I traded it for a flat trigger from Armory Craft. Very Pleased.
I saw my local academy have one of these for like $489 if I remember, thinking about picking it up and trying it. I am a Glock guy but looking to get into the sig pistols.
You say it’s an inexpensive gun under 500, as well as others on YT, but I got mine during this pandemic so I experienced some price gauging. I bought mine for 825 with the fee and taxes. After watching all of these videos I realized I got fucking ripped off big time. This won’t ever happen again!!
The extension is for if your wearing gloves, that's what I have been told. It's was told to me from a salesman so take that with a grain of salt. But ehh food for thought.
The MecGar +2 baseplates fit on the SP2022 mags. Sig has that same sh!tyy concave base plate for the P225a1, but nobody makes a replacement baseplate to increase capacity or allow me to get my pinky on it.
With my huge hands, the magazine foot/heal is perfect. Without it, my pinky finger rides below the handle. So any complaining about it probably has small hands.
i have one and it is awesome.... dont know why ppl letting the cheaper price throw them off....i carry it for duty everyday and shoot it at the range often. no issues at all
Got a thousand rounds through it recently, still looks and shoots like new. There's a video on CZcams of one firing 5000 rounds, clip after clip pretty much non stop ('xept for water-dip in the middle) without issue. It even beats the expensive SIG Sauer's as well as Beretta's, FN Herstal's, Glock's, HK's, CZ's, etc. (in my opinion), in price as well as reliability in a crunch. It was the final firearm that SIG (Switzerland) developed and released as the sig pro series in '98 in .40 S&W (so the 9mm ones that came after are particularly durable) before selling all their arms production to investors from Germany and The United States in the year 2000. but anyway I could go on and on and on, Great Swiss-German design, and final model of the M75 (220-229) types created!
I want to like this gun, it's such a good looking gun comparing to my P226, but for a gun designed in the 1990 or 2000s, I find the antiquated 1911 Browning style take down lever / slide release inexcusable, even due to the polymer frame. And compared to the 4" barrel on my G19, P2022 has 0.1" missing from its tube, that just pisses me off. So I just went with the full sized P226 MK25. I just got spoiled by the take down lever on my Beretta 92FS, I measure everything by it. However, I do also own a CZ75B as well, but it's a 1970s design, so the 1911 take down lever is excused.
I waited years for sig to release a sp2022 in 45 acp so I could buy 2 of them. It never happen and never will so I will probably never own a sp2022. I definitely prefer the p320c over the sp2022
At the shooting range where I shoot more people used Glocks then Sig their reason Glock is cheaper. I have a Sig 2022 it's ok. I am approaching forty thousand rounds out of it and never had a hiccup however not too many people that shoot at the range have Sig some have Glocks but not many have Glocks either have Glocks either. I bought my Sig because there was a Homeland Security agent at the range who use the Sig and the Kimber the Sig was all headshots between the eyes and the Kimber was like a shotgun blast. He said he uses the Sig because he doesn't want to get shot he was shot 13 times when he used Glocks and kimber's. that was enough for me. I'm not sorry I bought one
J Helmsing I just bought two Sig factory 17 round mags for my 2022 way more comfortable no BS little kickout at the baseplate. I liked them enough to order two +2 baseplates from Mec-Gar who apparently makes the 2022 mags for Sig
Smart man's Sig, half the price same results.
Right.. poor man's sig my ass
I just got one of these been trying to understand why ppl call it a poor man's sig. It performs beautifully
poor man smart man....i dont care. if a gun can shoot like a regular sig for a HALF of price then darn it i will BUY it
@ptk 1113 Because people don't like hearing that a $500 pistol matches the performance of a 226/229. Don't tell them the Sig Pro 2022 had a better trigger either 😉
I purchased this pistol. I have about six days left until I pick mine up. I can’t wait!
It’s my battle gun. 4 years and never an issue. Great shooter

SP2022 was my first SIG, It's an awesome pistol.
I have 229 and 2022. I love my 2022. It has become my primary carry firearm.
Best $399 that I have ever spent. $50 off at Academy in Dec 2015. First 45rds blew out the X-Ring at 7yrds.

Another well informed and delivered review. I have the 229 Dark Elite and 229 Legion. Will add this to my Sig collection. For $400, a solid pistol.
The SP 2022 break down is the best , some hate it. It is way better than any Glock. Love it is hammer fired and has a de-cocker. Great gun.
GREAT pistol. 5 years and no issues. Not one.
Girlfriend just bought me one for Christmas. Can’t pick it up for another 9 days though, shoutout to California.
TheSkaterguy668 Do you know what she got yours for? I see them for $579 right now. Coronavirus markup?
Eric Carr she got it for around $450, so yeah definitely.
@Carlos Danger I challenge you to find a Sig 2022 in California (in stock) for less than $400. And mine was extra due to the upgraded sights.
@@ericcarr7557 ya they jacked up the price because of COVID-19 in Cali right now... FML.
Yeah they Jacked the price in California. $820 out the door.

That plate was a selling point for me. Super comfortable and priced well. 😍
I just bought a FDE one new for $430 and found another one used LNIB in black at Cabela’s for $329. I now have two. They are great little guns.

It's a great pistol, I've had one for close to ten years and also have a P226. My 2022 is .40 and my 226 is 9mm. Love them both, they just fit me.
I just got one of these chambered in 357 Sig.
They started to make them in 357 SIG? Back in the day it was 9 or 40.
I installed a metal recoil spring guide rod looks and works good.

Sigsauer released a gun in 2002 with an expected 20 year production , hence the name 2022
I thought it was released in 1997 with an expected 25 year service life? Maybe I heard/remember wrong though.

I call the SP2022 the Stealth Sig. In 2021 it will cost you about 650usd at least in PA if you can find them.
I have that exact SP2022- got it for $380 with night sights on Gunbroker- great pistol
picked mine up on GB also last week! came with 3 mags and a sig laser. 350 with shipping and FFL. very excited.

I have an SP2022 and my pinky does cover most of the mag plate with each finger touching and my middle finger against the bottom of the trigger guard relief area. If the mag plate were smaller, then my hand likely would not fit comfortably as a smaller mag plate would be rubbing against my pinky.

I'm not sorry I bought one
can you shoot it accurately
Yes, it's a very accurate gun.
@@jhelmsing shot 100 rds through mine today.im getting better
J Helmsing I just bought two Sig factory 17 round mags for my 2022 way more comfortable no BS little kickout at the baseplate. I liked them enough to order two +2 baseplates from Mec-Gar who apparently makes the 2022 mags for Sig
Might have been useful if you had shown the gun and gun parts instead of your mug during disassembly and assembly.
Awesome bro 👍🏼
it is NOT cheap sig.... local (Cal) gunshop selling this gun for $890.... and you're lucky if you can get one. 2021 + California
you got sissy hands, my pinky lands right on that extension, for that reason, i like it
Lol.. ok
Poor man's sig?? Feels like an insult.
Ron Munoz I also noticed that “ joke”
