  • In this video, my dad helps me lay down the Pro 15 on his old 1951 chevy truck. We go through the proper preparation of the metal and end up with a cab with will be sealed from rust for many years to come!

    The slowest brain cells get killed first, collectively improving the herd of brain cells. You're doing the right thing! Thanks for showing the process; it's quite amazing to hear someone say, "I put that mud on this truck myself 45 years ago." Rock on!

    Maybe a dumb question (sorry), but why are there sections inside the cab that you didn’t cover with any POR15? Are you just focusing on areas that already had surface rust?

    Can you do a little bit of an overview on how you mounted the cab and core support onto the frame? Very interested in doing something similar!

      Sure, I'll show better detail on the cab mount and core support mount that I fabbed up on the next truck update. Thanks!

    How would you suggest using this on a car when it’s not able to be rinsed with water ? 1980 Trans am already redone (mostly), Trunk areas and below the door frame. I don’t want to get the car wet on the inside or have water leak into the frame .

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  Před 3 lety +2

      Good question. I'd recommend using a spray bottle and wiping down the surface with towels. It will be important to clean the solution off before applying the product, and it's certainly possible to clean it off without a full on rinse. I hope that helps!

    Hey so I’m sure I’m using it wrong somehow but I’ve applied it several times on the floor of my cab and it’s peeling when it’s dry and when I’m applying it it won’t apply evenly it’ll move away from some areas, bubble in others and overall just looks bad
    I went oven my floors with soapy water and 320 grit sandpaper as prep but that didn’t seem to do much, kinda beating my head against the wall right now so some advice would be appreciated

    • @BigJimBoylesLab
      @BigJimBoylesLab Před 3 lety

      I tried thin coats and it was just heading up and looking like shit so I put on thicker coats and I guess that’s why there’s bubbling but still, paint shouldn’t be that hard to work with that’s why I’m feeling kinda stupid because nobody else is seeming to have an issue

      With POR15 it is pertinent that you do exactly what the directions say…stick with the products that are recommended and use them as directed and I’m thoroughly convinced that POR15 is pretty much bombproof. I’ve never had it come off of anything I’ve applied it to. Good luck!

      @@matt.squarebody5427 yeah man make sure there’s absolutely no trace of any oily substance on your surface and make sure it’s 100% bone dry, wipe that shit down super good - I might’ve used the wrong stuff to wipe down my surfaces I think not sure

    I thought once this stuff dries it is glossy. The last picture shows it as flat.

    • @ClassicNation
      @ClassicNation  Před 4 lety

      Por 15 has versions with Gloss and Semi gloss finish. This was the semi gloss, so it does dry much more flat than then gloss version.

      You have to stop the chemical reaction. If you leave it on your causing problems

    • @mr.preston743
      @mr.preston743 Před rokem

      Not to mention, if the chemical did it’s job there isn’t any rust to worry from the water. Then the black Por15 layer transformed the rust permanently.
