    We have the frame stripped and were going to powder coat. That ended up not working out so we went with painting our rusty frame with POR 15 instead. POR-15 is a non-porous coating that protects against rust, corrosion, chemicals and salt. The POR-15 should keep this frame protected for life.
    ** Part 2 - How did it hold up so far? See here - • POR15 Revisited - Did ...
    We were able to get POR 15 straight from Amazon.

      @@Truck180 the only OBS is an OBS Ford. The nickname OBS came from when Ford did a complete redesign of the superduty trucks in 1998 but still had the same powerstroke. The name OBS was to prevent confusion between the 9th generation F Series Super Duty from the 10th generation F Series Super Duty. So in other words there’s no OBS Chevy. The proper nickname would be squarebody Chevy.

      @@obsnation8453 Well I'll have to disagree. The term OBS and NBS was used on the Chevy truck way before 1998 and the Square body was produced from 1973 to 1987. The term OBS only means old body style like NBS is new body style so really it can pertain to any manufacturer.

    How come you guys didn't use the POR degreaser and metal prep? They are required for a solid bond when you actual go paint it. It's a 3 step process. Hmmm......I don't think the paint is going to hold.

    I did my entire 69 mustang frame with it after all the correct prep. Had to make a repair to weld spot and that’s when I found that is started pealing off. Hit it with air gun and it pealed off. Spent the next 3 weeks sanding and wire wheeling the entire underside and front frame! Will never tell anyone to use it! Same thing happened to my lawn tractor mower deck that is did while drinking the juice!!
    Never again!

    Gray is a good color. That way you can see whatever color top coat that needs to be spayed over it to protect it from the ultraviolet rays. But sense it under the carriage it’ll probably get none if any . But por15 will not stand up to the suns ultraviolet rays and has to be top coated with a premium paint that will.

    • @Truck180
      @Truck180  Před 3 lety

      That was the original plan but the places we were going to use we just couldn't get our schedules lined up. And we don't have the setup just yet to do it ourselves. The POR15 is designed to paint over the rust so we figured this was a good example because not many people have a sand blast setup in their garage either.
