  • How to clean the Delonghi Dedica Espresso Maker with cheap white vinegar. This is an update to my previous video with several new ways to safely clean your espresso maker. There are several tips I have learned to help you quickly clean and get back to making great espresso every time.
    Delonghi Dedica on Amazon: amzn.to/3lL9X5X
    White Vinegar: amzn.to/3s7bB38
The official cleaning solution that I used in my previous video works great, but when I ran out it is much cheaper to just use a solution of vinegar to water. White Vinegar won't leave any flavors beyond sour, so I wouldn't recommend using any other vinegars. The best ratio to use is 1:1 with vinegar and water.
It is important to keep your machine clean to prolong the life of the machine and keep the espresso flowing for years to come. I have had this machine for over 2 years, and it still works as well as it did when I opened the box.

I will try to use white vinegar when my stock of Delonghi descaler run out. White vinegar is way cheaper option than the official descaler and is readily available or can be bought easily. Great vid! Keep it coming for all coffee lovers.

Thank you for this tutorial. I hate that the Delonghi solution has so many "toxic" warnings on it. Why are they selling me something I shouldn't even touch with my hands yet is running through my machine I'm going to drink out of? Let alone the price! This is a much better solution. Thanks for sharing!

From what I've seen on their site and MSDS it's only lactic acid. It is however at a concentration of 30-50% which is quite high, and that's likely the cause of all the warnings.

For those with machines that ask for frequent descaling... The machine keeps track of the amount of water that goes through the heater. So, the frequency of descaling is based on usage. The allowable usage between descaling is programable. If you have VERY soft water, you can program the machine to go longer between descaling. Read the manual where they explain how to change the interval.

Maybe my delonghi espresso machine is shot? I descaled it with a 50/50 water and distilled white vinegar. 2 cycle or rinse, and unscrewed the filter and clean that. Still get the flashing orange light. So I repeated the steps again. Still flashing ! Thought maybe the light was malfunctioning, so I put the portafilter with no coffee to see if it seeped water. No water trickled out.. any thoughts on what’s going on?
