      Spacebourne 2 is a good game, but it still needs some work around the edges. It can be incredibly ugly around those rough corners and some of the assets/textures could use some work or a facelift. The AI definitely needs some overhauling as well because it can be a bit weird at times. It doesn't help the game is incredibly janky and glitchy. However, with time, a lot of things could be addressed if they continue to support the game unlike their first game which they up and abandoned.

      I'd agree with that, but for myself, Spacebourne 2 is the better game. Not by much, and it's still got more than a few rough edges, but Everspace 2 had an entire studio behind it and has hit 1.0 and then some, while Spacebourne 2 effectively was a one-man-show* until the second half of this year. It's such an impressive achievement and with the exception of multiplayer (which I don't care about at all, but I know many do), is or soonish will be, everything I was hoping for from Star Citizen so many years ago when I backed it via Kickstarter.

    surprisingly X4 is missing even when it did release a big DLC with Kingdom End this year. So in that regard it even added more content then ED this year.
    And Everspace 2 is indeed a great game in the genre of space looter shooter. To bad those games mostly don't go bigger then fighter ships.
    Also another game I think is missing is Space Reign, though haven't played it a lot due to it being Early Access, just like KSP2. But it does look promising and decent for a new spacegame. Though in that category I think Spacebourne 2 is indeed the better option so far.

      @@efxnews4776I've got a grudge against X4 also so I understand. I've put in many hours but then I get hit with immersion breaking things like clipping into an asteroid or space station mid fight or something. This is something they could fix but don't it I'd rather crash and burn than get stuck. Maybe the new fixes fixed that but hard to get back into it and have to relearn everything. I literally was spending hours in one spot managing my empire which is pretty awesome. I know they have made many improvements but the clipping issue throws me off also having to re-learn how to do all the micro managing and other things makes it hard to get back into and buying dlc's when they have not fixed something as basic as clipping is a no go I've given them enough money thinking they would get it done my mistake. 😊

Every game has it's problems and a game with the scope of X4 wouldn't be different.

    • @torrb420
      @torrb420 Před 6 měsíci +4

      @@efxnews4776a lot of it comes down to the fact that X4 is incredibly niche, even in context of space sims. It's not a very user friendly game, you end up spending a lot of time in me us which are not exactly easy to navigate and they are rather ugly to boot. And unless you are a die-hard stickler for economy sims and less everything else, X4 had a lot to be desired for when it comes to it's content outside of econ tycoon/empire building. Without a lot of mods and sheer luck, if you want to play the game as some solo Freelancer bounty hunter, you are going to be left wanting and light on actual content.
      It's a great space sim, but it's not for everyone. I gave a more than enough time and there is a lot that I like about the game, but it wasn't for me at the end of the day. Too much focus on the macro level of things that makes the micro seem like a after thought. If your really big into 4x grand strategy or sandbox strategy sims like Mount and Blade, X4 will be right up there for you. If you are not a fan of those, X4 can be a hard sell.

    I said it before and I will say it again. If Frontier do not want to develop ED anymore, hand the reigns over to the players. Just let it go, modders would love to get their hands on it. Look at the ship related builds and mods in Starfield PRE developer kit.
    I know for a fact if I could tweak some settings I would come back to the game. Increase super cruise acceleration and deceleration by 5x or more would be enough to have my time feel a little more valued. Most friends I had liked private or solo more than open anyways so just let us run a modded server.
    If people saw that there were fantasy ships from all kinds of sci-fi in a more realistic space sim world like ED it would be game changing, at least in my opinion.

    So far I played the demo of Everspace 2 and I wasn't disappointed. It reminded me some classic titles from the mid 90s- early 00's, it plays very similar. I was really holding out for Starfield, even spent the $100 to get it early, but after about 40 hrs, I just couldn't find more content after finishing the main quest and most side quests. It was rather tiring by level 25, so I had to push through and start ignoring the copy-paste bases on the planets.

    You should have mentioned X4...while it is not the best space game there is, it certainly is top 5
    Anyway, I think the problem of spacegames is "ambition"...what I mean is, space is the most vast thing there is...we simply lack the tecnology to reproduce every aspect of what life in space would be, just with the work of a single development team...
    I think the secret to make a good space game would be to focus on a FEW aspects of life in space, and work to deliver those aspects in detail and close to perfection...
    Wasting time and resources to try and reproduce everything that could be done by a civilization that lives in space and every aspect of that everyday life, is what ruins potentially good games, delivering half baked products.

    My biggest problem with space games at the moment is lack of VR.
    Elite Dangerous abandoned VR after the Odyssey update.
    Everspace 2 didn't include VR whereas the original Everspace did.
    No Mans Sky admittedly has VR, but I can't control the ships - whenever I want to roll the ship does a weird yaw at the same time. I cannot get that.
    EVE Valkyrie had the servers pulled meaning the game cannot even be played in single player mode.
    Currently the best space game for VR is House of the Dying Sun which is now 7 years old.
    What the hell happened to VR?

    • @_Jay_Maker_
      @_Jay_Maker_ Před 6 měsíci +3

    • @compmanio36
      @compmanio36 Před 6 měsíci

      The same thing that's always happened to VR. It's a buzzword for a few years, the hardware is way too expensive and cumbersome, adoption is way too low because of that so devs don't generally want to put a lot of effort into it when the market share is so small, so it eventually dies off.
      What killer title do I have to get VR for? HL: Alyx. That's the only AAA game I can think of, and since I can go watch a decent playthrough online, do I need to spend upwards of $1000 to play it myself? The bar to entry is too high, for too little reward.

    • @AtrusDesign
