Awesome review of the Girobank building history DJ. Bye bye Girobank building, time to Check out and account balance is £0. Awesome drone views and chats on a delightful day. 👍⭐⭐⭐
In addition bank offices on the campus closed in 2021. March 2023 the property was sold to developers responsible for the demolition. Girobank building has a wiki page for more history. Prior to Girobank, the site part of Orrell Park Pleasure Grounds (recreational grounds) with allotment gardens to the north and south (Dominion).
On DJs 360 photos, to the east is the HSBC Bank processing centre, to southeast the long warehouse was Internal Harvester constructed early '50s (Hy Ten Steel). Along Bridle Way was post war prefab housing constructed for workers at the new English Electric Company, the large disused warehouse to the northeast. Other notable industry in the Netherton - Aintree area include the historic Aintree Race Course and steeple chase competitions further east. The retail park on the race course north side near Aintree Station was Skag Farm, site of the Royal Aircraft Manufacturing No 2 during the Great War. It was redeveloped as an artificial silk (rayon) factory. On the Netherton side of Aintree Station was the Royal Ordnance Factory for manufacturing rifles and the factory building still in use by multiple tenants. Behind G4S cash depot where DJ began his virtual tour, was the large Aintree Sorting Siding that stored and sorted rail wagons servicing the dock in Bootle and Liverpool.
Across from the Santander Bank Campus and Dominion Printing was the HSBC processing centre which has been vacant since at least 2010. Currently two data centres operate on the property and L51 Liverpool has planning approved to replace the office block with a modern data centre.
Thanks DJ, this has been quite a delightful virtual tour of Bootle-Liverpool area. 😃
Awesome Information. Thanks once again! 💚
@@DJAUDITS Thanks and an -oops- just noticed on the Dominion 360 in the distance the old English Electric factory also recently demolished, massive pile of gravel staged.
It's not just me that remembers the old Citibank then! 😂😂
What a nice bloke , the diggers fascinate me , I was enjoying watching that . Thanks for the vid DJ
Always nice to see a fellow Scouser without a chip on his shoulder.
Stay cool dude😎💪.
a scouser would say lad, not dude, nice try
scousers are top lads! friendly as , just don't get fresh and you're good 😂
Lovely lady in the car, salt of the earth. Great to see so many folk just having a sensible chat and _not_ going mental on each other. Treasure these moments, they're going to get rarer as we become more _global._
Car lady just out and about gathering intel😂
She could have been " Casing the Joint " 🤣
I still have my original Giro Bank account, now with Santander. Good to have historical footage for the future. I have to say the lad in the 360 is a quality operator, most will not notice the finner points unless they have years of civil engineering experience. That young man is as good as all the old lads I worked with.
What a sound guy the bearded fellow was, I'm sure I seen a small bird fly out that beard tho😂😂😂
It wasnt a bird it was the last remaining man with testicles escaping the UK
Nice JCB operator, good video, even without any drama.
The lady in the car at the start with the liverpool accent just luv that accent n im from Yorkshire
I need subtitles
I know what you mean lol. @rsb8653
As a Yank, I watch this channel, partly, because of all the interesting accents.
@@Nikonik66 As a Limey, I watch USofA videos for the scenery & the accents. T.V. is terminal. In palliative care. Defunct.
before Alliance and Leicester, and Santander it was called Giro bank hence the Giro building.
National Girobank was a British public sector financial institution run by the General Post Office that opened for business in October 1968. It was initially called National Giro then National Girobank and finally Girobank plc, before being absorbed into Alliance & Leicester in 2003, which was later acquired by Santander in 2008.
I opened a Girobank account when I was 15 tears old and felt very grown-up that I could write cheques to buy tat which was advertised in the back of kids' magazines.
What a lovely chap to talk to. He must get so bored waiting for the lorry. Yes, very interesting to watch the video. Well done DJ. Take care Sara x
And one eyesore will come down only to be replaced with another eyesore. 17.5 acres of land would do nicely for a new housing development but we all know that’s not going to happen, not when there’s prime green belt to build housing on.
hotels housing and infrastructure for the racecourse
Hotel for Migrants 😮

When they started coming from countries that wasn’t at war.
Would be good to go back in a year or so see what they rebuild on site
Shes already cased the joint 😂😂
You can take the girl out of Liverpool but.
Imagine if everyone in the world was like that excavator driver!! We'd all get on like a house on fire. Great bloke. 🤩
Just a typical scouser, most of us are like that
This guy should be in the movies or TV with that look and great accent.
Gotta love the Liverpool accent
Nice lad..seemed interesting bloke. Enjoyed his chat with dj.
I worked there for 37 years. Started with Giro bank, Alliance & Leicester and finally Santander. Great place to work, amazing colleagues.
My wife worked for Santander. During Covid. They all had to work from home and never went back.
Now a six storey building stands empty. WFH is not a good thing.
Sadly, it gets bean counter thinking "If they can work from home in Bootle, they can work from home in Bangalore."
Phi it is actually a nine storey block - worked there for many years.
@@mjb1957uk not the one at Cobalt. My wife and I both worked there and she just told me its actually five storey: ground floor to fourth.
@@mjb1957uk i forgot to mention the office was at North Tyneside.
Whats WFH ?? I'm prob being dumb but I can't work it out ?! 😂
A sound, friendly scouser that I could just about understand, well that's a first for me, fair play to him.
Lady in the car was very pleasant AND good looking.
It must have been a lovely building, when it was open , it's certainly an unusual shape .
Love this drone shot!
Ok DJ your next drone needs to be an Avata 2 FPV “Let’s see what this place looks like…. From Inside!!!”
Used to work on that road, "Forticrete" (bridal road) and I knew some people from Santander. Shame its closed.
Great drone flying….😎
DJ getting everywhere 👏👏👏
That was me getting loaded in the D Morgan truck, where’s my key ring 😂
That security wagon is impersonating a Police vehicle 🚓🚓 . Must be Illegal surely ? Great video this one 👌👍🛸🛸
I've seen a lot of cellular phone transmitters left on buildings when they get demolished, I can only assume it's not cost effective to remove them than replace them at other locations.
The steelwork & rigging would only have scrap value, the antennas depend on the spec. Feeder cable potentially reusable, but costly to recover. Losing this site would have left a nasty coverage hole.
The girooooo likeeee
Excellent content as always DJ
~ Yer man is good with his digger.
Get some MUC-OFF Dry Lube for your bike mate, It’s not sounding too healthy. Could also need a new chain by now too.
Love your channel
Always had that creak I think 🤔
@@Richtea557 are we sure that's not DJ? 😉
Thanks for having me on @djaudits
Still after a keyring I’m on me way 🤣
Alliance and Leicester yep remember them dj
Love audits
Back in the day when you was on DOLE lol, all your Giro's that you cashed at the Post Office came from Bootle.
never has so much styley been put into the words "From AboooOOOoooOOOoooove!"
Yes
The lady at the start being your hype woman 👏🙌🙌
Go on Dj
The actual post code for the building as google maps will not accept The Gir 0AA postcode is L30 4GB
Still waiting for someone to say to you "Do One" like the last of Brookside used to say in every episode.
I love your Videos DJ
Class
Good afternoon Dj
Great weather u have
I used to work in that building as a contractor
Loving your Merseyside coverage DJ .... any chance you can do Southport or Crosby 🙌🏻
I WFH and there's never been any talk of compensation for power usage or anything like that. With that said, laptops don't use much power
I must be getting old, I remember that being built
I used to work here. I took redundancy when the news broke they were closing the site. To be honest, It was long overdue to be pulled down. It wasn't very well maintained. I do miss the social club on site just beyond those gates. Good cheap pints 😂😂
What lovely down to earth people who know how to communicate with fellow human-beings, nice one all round guys, Respect ;-)
I work for Capita, in the newer building the other side of that building (the Giro), a few hundred yards away from where you were.
Rubble is classed as waste so they have to do a waste transfer/carrier note every load.
DJ, that high rise platform you were referring to that you thought was something to do with aintree. Years a go that was a container base and that platform was used for floodlights that lit up the whole area.
I wonder if all these people now working from home and have a room used for the work, realise they should be notifying their local council to tell them, as they could be liable for business rates. Also their building insurance could be invalidated if they have not informed of the change of use. BT phone lines for buiseness are also different costs.
What Radio scanner and where did you buy from? Please
Love the videos fella, this one looks like one of my old school buildings hehe!
Abbey National became Santander. I know this because my Abbey National account was to change and I closed it.
Peace.
What a nice fella...honest.👍
Santander do not contribute to your electric bills when you work from home, trust me!
😮😮😮
One of the best social clubs in the world that Giro mate.
I worked there about 30 years ago.
I knew you'd be going there next!
Really nice bloke!
I loved it going to Santander Lincoln back in 2015 to pay my house off with my savings. Great feeling walking out the bank knowing the house is paid off. No more stress.
I was in the kitchen and heard a Liverpool accent. I knew it must be DJ on UTube. :)
I think you should have a look around Cherry Knowls in sunderland.
Friday is here
Bless that lady in the black car looking for a labouring job for her brother.
I see more comments about the creaky bike. Is it plastic? Dose it fold down? Thought of doing a review on it? You must know it inside out by now. It is becoming the iconic "orange bike". Folks may be interested.
we call that a Bando in FPV hobby world.
Another fascinating upload DJ! How come you're not putting the names up those you interact with up on screen no more? Looking forward to the next one mate, cheers.
I must have forgot mate. I always aim to put all name up in yellow. 👍
@@DJAUDITSOK, you forgot yesterday as well, the chap you were chatting with at the printer place, Domino's. Love ya work DJ ❤.

I live on Dodge at the back of that building. That's originally the Giro Bank.
How come you don't do live videos so that we can chat. Your the best.

O Jesus I did laugh (good chuncks them am)😂
The general counter argument to the electricity bill increase is that your travel costs/etc are reduced. So no pay increase.
Good day sirrr
he was a sound lad
they get paid nicely for leasing space on the top of these buildings for antennas, old building is still earning $$
Hey DJ ...Give'm HELL ! lol
Me in 1985 as a toddler: Why doesn't everyone just not come in to school sick and stay home so we can get rid of colds and flus?
Everyone: You're an idiot.
Me in 1999: Why doesn't everyone just work from home over the internet?
Everyone: You're an idiot.
Me in 2019: This feels different to a regular flu, I think there's something bad spreading.
Everyone: You're a conspiracy theorist.
Me in 2020: You know, there WAS a coronavirus laboratory just down the street from ground zero, seems suss.
Everyone: You're a conspiracy theorist.
Me in 2021: It wasn't bad enough to destroy all civilisation over guys, settle down.
Everyone: You're a conspiracy theorist.
Times change. Words change. But the message is the same. I'm an idiot / conspiracy theorist. [shrug]
Also, keeping indigenous workers at home, slowly locking them out of public access by "Oh this building is appointment only." allows them to bring in the endless scab labour that drives down the living wage and drives up the cost of living causing everyone to be poorer but the filthy rich to be richer. But I'm just an idiot / conspiracy theorist.
Me too!
Fabulous 👌 👏
Any chance of some audits in the southwest DJ?
