I've not seen them wearing badges in asda. although most people working in security have done the sia course. when i done the cctv there were people there who worked in the nhs but because part of the job involved used cctv their bosses put them on a course to cover them in case anything went wrong.

The oil refinery estate is public access near me . both refinery workers and police confirmed this .Never questioned the photography gear. just warned me to watch out for fuel shipments and clear the road when you see the safety vehicle with the amberlamps .
Blue lights are not permitted to be fitted to vehicles which will be driven on public roads. That’s the law end of they’re total muppets and the ex-copper is a complete prick.

Not true. It's illegal to SHOW a light other than white to the front or red to the rear. It's not illegal to have them fitted, just to use them on the road.
They can be fitted and pass an MOT but must not be used on a public road (and probably not a public carpark either?).. Ideally a switch that is not within easy reach of the drivers seat but that's not a law just something I would do.
Don't hold back give us your full thoughts on the ex-copper. :) We can only imagine what he was like when he was a cop but what an attitude to have and say something is illegal when it clearly is not. Just WOW.

1) How do you know what colour those roof lights are.
2) It's only an offence to show a blue light to the rear, not to the front. Those look directional.

I can understand the natural concern about the (very unlikely) event of a rogue spark in the wrong place, but the issue of the weight of the drone knocking or affecting an instrument seems far-fetched: a raven or similar bird can be around 6 times the weight of a drone! And far more likely to occur.
