Whisky.com reviews the Monkey Shoulder. The Blend Monkey Shoulder comes from William Grant. It is created from three malt whiskys. Although not listed, the corporate structure suggests that the distilleries are Glenfiddich, Balvenie and Kininvie. Monkey Shoulder is particularly good for mixed drinks.

I like Monkey Shoulder, and I really recommend it to anyone starting to get into Scotch. Its main competitor on my shelf is another very interesting and well priced Blended Malt: JW Green Label.

It’s main competitor is Naked Malt
Green Label is around $75 and Monkey Shoulder cost about $35 in my area.

This is my favorite budget dram. Here in the US it (usually) has a wood cork top and it's 43% abv.
Finally picked this up, since it was only 19.99 in France. I've been a fan of Laphroaig for a few years and at first I was a bit underwhelmed by it (obviously due to being used to the strong smoke flavour) but now I'm starting to appreciate it. It's not a very complex whisky, but the flavors it does have, are very pronounced and balanced.

I was sitting outside yesterday and going through whiskies in my local bottle shop website and as I filter the result price low to high, this whisky came up first and I was thinking what kind of silly name is that. This morning I got notification from CZcams about your new review and when I saw you are reviewing this whisky I was so shocked. I have never had this but definitely will buy ot soon.
I'm delighted that, given your level of expertise, you really liked this whisky, as so many "purists" would look the other way. It was my go-to several years ago before I really started enjoying American bourbons. I just might have to revisit.
Perfect for the Rusty Nail, 2 parts of this and 1 part Drambuie over ice with a garnish of lemon zest, my favourite Cocktail.
Love this drop it just gets better the more you have it.Very tasty Whisky indeed I highly recommend it.

Monkey Shoulder is a very good Vatted Malt which is a traditional Speysider. Absolutely Delicious 😋

I never got into drinking whiskey or scotch other than jack Daniel’s when I was in high school. But I did get into vodka (mainly vodka tonic drink) and red wine at one point in my life. Russian river valley/ Sonoma county coastal red wines are my favorite. What do you recommend as the most collective bottles of whiskey and scotch to buy as investments?

My first blended Scotch and was immediately struck by the floral honey on the nose. If you're new to whiskey u can't go wrong with Monkey Shoulder 🥃

I asked at a liquor dept. about a beginner scotch for a bourbon lover. He suggested Monkey Sholder. I think it will be my introduction to scotch. He said try it streight, take a taste. Tjen add a single ice cube, swerl it for a bit, then compair the taste

Here in argentina costs 29 usd. And j.w. black label 19 usd (both 750ml) so i pay that extra 10 dolars without a doubt. Good blended malt price/quality relation.

One of the first good blended whiskies I had.
Dimple and Monkey Shoulder are the only blends I have developed a soft spot for.
Please find and taste Naked Grouse blended malt . In my opinion it is far superior to Monkey Shoulder.
I truly believe that Naked Grouse blended malt is far superior to Monkey Shoulder, which I find bland and should be used purely as a whisky for mixing with colas and similar drinks.
Sounds tasty, looks like I might give it a try after I’m done with a recent purchase of Jameson Black barrel.

I was surprised by how good this whisky tastes straight, or on the rocks. Especially considering it’s mainly marketed as a whisky to make mixers with.
I destroyed my last bottle, purists would go "meh", but it is really quite good for a blended!!
Actually I've seen quite a few purists give it the thumbs-up. Something to be said for a well done blend.

I just picked up a bottle of this one, so i wonder is this a bottle i should save up on when have a glass or should I drink it when ever i feel for a glass of whisky?
If you want to reward yourself, other whiskies are better suited. Monkey Shoulder is a whisky you can drink, whenever you feel like it.
@@Whiskycom tips on other whiskys that reward myself with? I am thinking Highland Park 12, 18 or 21 for example, especially since i really like the 12 YO

Which one is best monkey shoulder or Maker's Mark?.
Both are good in their own way. Monkey Shoulder has more floral, spicy notes and Maker's Mark has more of the typical bourbon character with lots of sweetness.
This might be the best budget scotch.

I’m glad you enjoyed it more than I did. Seemed a little flat to me.
I really don't like the MS. Some of the flavors are a bit too strong and offensive to me. The only other scotch I've had is Glenlivet 12, which I found much milder and easier to drink.
Without this overwhelmnig spiceness, Monkey Shoulder could be a perfect blended malt. IMO

Monkey Shoulder is my preferred moderately priced blended scotch, but it's nowhere near as complex as this review suggests. It's pretty simple, it's relatively smooth and most importantly it doesn't do anything wrong. That's it! Easily worth the $30 it costs here.
OK already. Perhaps my pallet isn't that sophisticated. I'm very happy with Monkey Shoulder, that should be OK with you. :)
Monkeys are and each other's shoulders, not on the shoulders of the bottle
Really not a fan of this one, Im getting taste of cheap Pinot Grigio white wine, reminds me of Tomatin Dualchas (which I did not like)

You're a weird guy bro
One of the few whiskeys I cannot touch. The malt is simply too strong, too overwhelming. Sorry for being extreme, but Monkey Shoulder smells and tastes like vomit to me.
Total rip-off. Tastes like cheap generic blended whisky available in the UK (Bell's, Grouse etc).
Overrated, bland and uninspiring, in my humble opinion.
