    Nice video. You're the only one who puts things in their shoes. I always do that. I find it's not the clothes but all the other stuff that we take with us--chargers, medication, glasses, snacks, kindle, etc. I love my package cubes. Depends on the time of year you're traveling as to needing to take a bulkier item like a sweater/sweatshirt. I wear mine on the plane that's always cold anyway.

      Hahah it’s a great hack for maximizing space! So glad you do it too :) yes a warm outer layer is always a good idea - even for summer travel! I think people get caught off guard all the time with how chilly places can become at night.

    Great video and tips. Love packing cubes. But I usually have lotions and potions, along with makeup, being an older lady with dry skin 😊. I’ve gotten better and can manage in a carry on with tote/backpack. Shoes are my issue. I always bring flip flops for hotel rooms. Can double as pool or beach shoes. I use foldable bags for groceries or as beach/pool bag. I also use hair straightener but use travel size one. One last tip, pack extra pair of underwear socks in case you get stuck overnight.

      Yes!! Packing spare clothes is a huge one that people often forget. I usually travel with a full change of clothes in my personal item now (my so called “emergency outfit” haha) and I recommend everyone do the same, since airlines are increasingly forcing you to put carry ons in the hold these days.

    And, of course, you have your travel outfit that adds in another bottom, another shirt, maybe even another sweater and a jacket too! We’re going to be doing a European trip catty on only. My first carryon only trip!

      Ooh great question!! Not sure if I would make a full video on it because I assume most people are here for travel tips and not creation tips but I’m pretty minimalist with my set up, honestly! My camera is a Sony A7IV and most of the time I have a 16-35 GM lens on it because it’s ultra wide and can capture buildings etc really well! I also use my iPhone 13 Pro a lot. I don’t actually vlog/talk to the camera in public because I feel like it takes me out of the moment but when I’m filming videos like this one at home I’m using the TASCAM DR-10L microphone. It’s quite a few years old though and I think there’s better options now that are fully wireless. Hope that helps!!

      Yes!! I’ve heard that tip before but have only used it once (somewhat accidentally). One time, my winter boots split in half randomly while visiting the Christmas markets in Strasbourg so I ran into the nearest shoe shop which happened to be a very fancy French department store. Anyways I got some great new boots in the end but they were SO confused when I asked if I could wear them out 😂

    I’m hoping to spend a couple weeks in Italy soon and was planning on only taking my personal item only. 4 wool& dresses (one will be my nightgown that’ll double as an extra dress in an emergency, one will be for on the plane), 2 shirts to wear over the dresses so they then look like skirts. 2 pairs of wool socks, an appropriate amount of underwear, tennis shoes and black ballet flats. I packed everything in my bag and it fits fine even without compression. I’ll check out your packing list!

    Haha I love the little written comments! I have an osprey farpoint40 carry on. Lol it'll hold 3 pairs of pants, 11 long sleeve tees, 10 pairs of underwear and socks and pj's. LMAO I'm bringing old underwear so they get tossed as I go. I don't go on long trips often. 😅 No makeup but I do have meds and basic charging stuff.

      Mine is the slim version of the Delsey Chatelet Air so I believe it’s 55cm x 40cm x 21cm! (Not sure in inches) I’ve had zero issue with it on any airlines including budget ones like Ryanair and Porter but I believe it might be 1cm over the Ryanair stated limit for depth. From experience though it’s quite rare they make you use the sizers at the gate unless your bag is very visibly over the limit, so it hasn’t been an issue for me! Hope that helps.

  • @sunflowerfields4409
    @sunflowerfields4409 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Great video as always! I used to bring huge bags and then lug them around, wearing about 1/4 of what was in there. I learned the hard way that nobody's going to carry said bag for me so I'm bringing the lightest tiniest bag possible. I want one of those 16 inch bags and just bring that. My friends think I'm crazy. Yeah, but I won't have to lug a heavy bag around... just saying!

    • @HappytoWander
      @HappytoWander  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes!!! I get such smug satisfaction out of easily getting on/off trains, up/down stairs, etc. with all my bags hahah. With all my camera gear/tech I don’t think I can go any smaller than carry on + small backpack but I’m so happy I’ve gotten it down to so little. Maybe one day I’ll try doing personal item only haha

    • @sunflowerfields4409
      @sunflowerfields4409 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@HappytoWander YES!! I want to travel with a personal item and that's all. How freeing that would be! That's how much I can't stand lugging a bag. You do a fabulous job packing with all that camera gear and everything! I am impressed.

    • @thesugundiasmith
      @thesugundiasmith Před 2 měsíci +1

      same, currently I have the takeoff luggage, which is a 20-inch carry-on that becomes a personal item on most airlines when the wheels are removed.

      This video was one of the first I’ve shot with natural lighting in YEARS and I wouldn’t do it again because the light kept changing lol (I live in a cloudy place!) in my other videos I use a combination of ambient lighting like regular lamps in the background then big standing ones from NEEWER to make myself look bright enough. Editing is done on Premiere Pro.
      Hope that helps!!

    Hi, Christine! What advice do you have for gentlemen? I personally would likely take a week trip and only pack a few days of clothing. I don't mind doing laundry while traveling. I'm considering using a backpack as my personal item. And a duffel bag as my carryon. My Dad's a retired federal employee here in the United States. So, he taught me some stuff. Though I don't think he knows it. lol. I'm Andrew. Also what advice do you have for those of us traveling with prescription meds? I'm on the generics for zocor, geodon, and tegretol for high cholesterol and bipolar respectively. I'm aware that some of my meds are sadly illegal in some parts of the world.

    • @HappytoWander
      @HappytoWander  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Honestly my advice would be more or less the same for gentlemen! My packing list is purposefully generic so you can tailor it accordingly. Based on what you’ve said, I’d guess probably 3 tops would be enough, and 2 bottoms (shorts, jeans or pants, depending on the season and what you find comfortable). I’m sure you could fit that all easily in a backpack!! I can’t advise on medication because it varies so much but I’d just double check that you’re allowed to bring your medication into your destination. Apart from that you shouldn’t have too many issues :)

    • @abkeener81
      @abkeener81 Před 2 měsíci

      @@HappytoWander Thanks. As it relates to my meds … not every country is as responsive or forthright about whether or not my meds are permitted in their country. I’m looking at you Philippines and Israel.

    • @HappytoWander
      @HappytoWander  Před 2 měsíci

      The black bag shown in the video? That’s actually not a special camera bag! It’s just a regular purse that’s surprisingly spacious. It’s the Kate Spade Adelina Danbury but I don’t think they sell it anymore. If you’re looking for a specialty camera bag with a similar look, I used to have the Lo & Sons Claremont and it was great!
