    I use packing cubes with compression and that are double sided, with a dry and wet side. So, I can keep the things that belong together, but separate them if they are wet or dirty. They even have a middle section that you can either open to have one big cube and is also a zipper compartment for your shoes, belts or what not. They are also practical if you go to the beach for example.

    This how I pack and it really works well. Emergency clothing is really important too. I had done this and was so glad when arriving in Korea after a 10 hour flight and my bag went missing for over a week. Layering highly recommended too - it gives you good insulation in the cold and when you go into an overheated restaurant you can nip into the ladies and remove under shirts and out them back on before you leave. Shoes - you generally only need 2 pairs including the ones you are wearing. Make sure you have comfortable ones especially if you are going to be walking on cobblestones. Waterproof them and your coats - its easy to spray it on. A pair of flip flops are handy tho if you are using shared showers or go to the beach.

    Definitely going to use the packing bottom to top in terms of what you need at the airport suggestion next time I fly. I tend to pack like I'm still in school and trying to fit all my textbooks.

  • @mysimpleintentionallife9899

    Love that you mix and match packing cubes for different size clothing. I have so many packing cubes but never think to mix the sizes up because I thought it would take up more room. Time to play with the assortment of sizes!

    just came across your channels when checking out Christmas Markets and love your videos! They are well detailed and very nicely narrated! Keep it up! :) I like to pack my medium suitcase in the large when I start out my trips and generally start of with sight-seeing cities then end with the city where I want to shop. That's when the medium one comes up to store my shopping ^.^ packing cubes and vacuum bags are a must for me as well. i also have my little life saver bag with medical supplies; bandaid, antibiotic cream, pills for tummy ache/diarrhoea, Panadol, essential oil rollers for indigestion and headache.

    Very practical tips. It’s also great to see you not being so exorbitant with your makeup. All holidayers have their own circumstances so it’s up to us how and what we pack. 9 times out of 10 I will take carry-on only. This time to the UK from Australia, due to Covid-19 changes we will have 2 stopovers each way. Do not feel like lugging both bags so one will be checked (still carry-on size) and my personal item stays with me. Just enough for the trip. Will be subscribing. You are on my wavelength. Happy travels.

  • @Magic_beans_
    @Magic_beans_ Před 9 měsíci

    Related to 4:50 (checking bags)
    1. If you think you’ll buy clothes while you’re there, you can adjust for that in your packing. I don’t really buy coffee mugs and other souvenirs anymore, instead I’ll buy one or two nice things like an outfit or local artwork. It’s something I’ll use and it comes with a story.
    2. Checking a bag on the return trip usually isn’t as big a deal as checking a bag outbound. I’ll often pack another bag (like a soft duffel, something that folds down) inside my carry-on. Then for the return leg I can check one and carry the other.

    I loved this video - it reconfirmed that I actually am packing properly. The only thing I haven't done is take an emergency outfit in my carry-on. I should be doing that, because my luggage gets lost fairly regularly when I go to Europe. I consider it my chance to shop for some new clothes lol. I really enjoy your tips.

    Thanks for the video, some great tips! I'll share this video on Twitter. :) I'm going on a cruise next week. :) Do you leave other items (pajamas or nightgown, hat, swimsuit, small towel) loose or put them into a different packing cube for miscellaneous?

    • @HappytoWander
      @HappytoWander  Před 4 lety

      Thanks so much for the share!! So when I pack swimsuits etc I usually pack them in the same packing cube as my underwear and socks (I would probably use a slightly larger one in this case) but I would definitely bring an additional bag to store it in in case you ever have to pack it when wet.
      Re: towels, I have a very light travel towel that comes with its own pouch so when I need a towel I will slip that into the zippered pouch that’s built into the divider in my suitcase!
      Lastly, I’m not much of a hat person but I’ve seen people use their hats for packing (eg putting items inside the hat to help keep its shape) which is quite clever!! Pajamas for me go where there’s space haha. :) in this video I crammed them in the same cube as my bottoms.

    Not going anywhere just yet wish I could travel the world but Your so organized then me lol love the video.Sorry that one of your comment is a such long comment, every summer I get chance to go back my home state and we go down Jersey shore from Arizona for a month but we took a break last summer so I'm hoping to go this Summer and we go for a month and this year I'm bringing the stuff to leave at shore house this trip to leave for summer of 2021 anyways I get chance to go with my grandpa and we take 2 check in bags and 2 carry on usually my backpack and my camera. So what your thought for pack a month? We lounge the house and walk up the beach for the day and weekend i go shopping with my aunt and do laundry. Should I pack for 2 weeks? I can always run into stores last trip i had chance to go laundromat with my dad hoping he come this summer too

    I haven’t figured out how you can keep a bottle of water frozen if you have to be at the airport a couple hours early? Also I take a picture of the inside of my suitcase after its packed in case it gets lost so, I have proof of some of the contents. Also take a picture of my passport, license and even credit card just in case any of it gets lost. Great ideas though!

  • @rebeccagutierrez1960
    @rebeccagutierrez1960 Před 2 lety

    This is great but I'm going to sort of disagree with packing one category of item in each little bag. Why? If somebody steals one of your packing bags at the airport you'll be stuck with out pants or you'll be stuck without shirts or you'll be stuck without underwear. I would vary it up and then organize it once you're at your location.
