    Great video Dan… I’m just starting out with a tethered photography setup. Waiting for my cable and some gear to arrive.
    Basically I like doing panoramic photo’s around the city, many of my pano’s are simple 3-4 photos with some being multi rows. Having a tether to my iPad will help with coordinating these pano setups….

      A couple of things to try are using a different computer or a different camera on the same computer. Also trying a different USB port on your computer. Also, remove the canon software so that you only have Lightroom. Hope that works.

    Thaks for the guide! Just one question...
    How's the configuration to get the images saved in the computer and in the SD card.
    When I shot at tether mode the images only get saved in the computer or external hard drive

    • @godschica14

      That's a good question!!! So when you take the photo via tether and not straight from the camera... Will it save both of the camera and Lightroom?

    Tx for the video. In Lightroom, will landscape and portrait shooting auto-rotate in the preview?

    • @DanCantero
      @DanCantero  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Good question! It depends on your camera. If your camera has the option to do this, it will write it in the metadata of the file. Lightroom will read this setting and auto rotate if it's switched on.

    What do I need to click to have files saved on the camera ? Nikon D810 . Also, if I abhor with 2 cards, one RAW and second JPEG, which file format goes in the computer?

    • @DanCantero
      @DanCantero  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi Sonia, only some cameras can do this. If your camera is one of them you can try it. Inside Capture one, go to Tether menu -> Camera settings -> Recording media. Then select Card and SDRAM. Hope it works for you! In regards to which card sends RAW and JPG, it also seems to depend on the camera. On my one it sends card 1 to computer so I have camera set to shoot RAW on my first card. You may have to experiment but I would recommend shooting RAW to both cards and that will send the RAW file only. Let me know how you go. Dan

    • @DanCantero
      @DanCantero  Před 10 dny +1

      Hello. Most of the time when it doesn’t work it means you have a cable that is not compatible. Try a different cable and then also try plugging it into a difference USB port on your computer. Good luck!

    Can you live tethered video as well? Simple question I know but I’m new to this and it doesn’t seem like there is any video explaining how to tethered video unless it’s with ninja V …

    • @DanCantero
      @DanCantero  Před rokem

      Hi Danny, it really depends on the camera you are using. I'm a canon shooter and the smart phone app they supply will let you do this. I run it on an iPad and seems to work well. You can monitor your video as well as control certain functions of the camera like start/stop recording. I'm not aware of anything that lets you do this on a PC or MAC though.

      This is something that I'm hearing more and more these days. It was stable for a while and now it seems to have issues again with the newer versions. Because of this, my first option these days is also C1

    thanks Dan.. one question..l have 5d 4 and Canon R6 . Both have different Tethertools cables. Wondering if I buy one cable lets say for 5D 4 , will it work on R6 or any other camera with an adapter cable ( to convert from 5d 4 Micro B cable to R6's USB C) or do i have to buy a seperate cable for R6 as well.

    • @DanCantero
      @DanCantero  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Sanjay, thanks for checking out the video. I've never tried it but I've heard people that have and they say it works fine. One thing is that the adapter does make the connection not very secure because it sticks out a bit. If you can find a dongle style adapter it might be more secure. I hope that helps. Dan

    I just followed all your directions on my Nikon D850, but when I shoot, the images don't pop up on my Lightroom Classic screen. Very frustrating!

    • @DanCantero
      @DanCantero  Před rokem +1

      Hey Leigh, sorry you're having some issues. One thing to check is that when you start off your tethered session, in the first window that pops up (tether capture settings) there is a check box at the bottom called Disable Auto Advance. You need to make sure that this is unticked. Then start the session, (in Library mode not develop) and when the first image comes through, double click on it to enlarge it. From then on, any other shots should automatically pop up on the screen. Hope that helps. Dan

    Which tether software do you recommend? Capture 1 or Lightroom?

    • @DanCantero
      @DanCantero  Před 2 lety

      Hi Gam, if you work on your own I would recommend Lightroom. It is easier to manage with just one person. If you are running a studio and have help I would go Capture one. Capture one can do a little more than Lightroom but it is a bit more complicated and you really need someone to be monitoring the computer to make sure the tether doesn't break.
